The Sunday Post #148

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • The weather here continues to warm up and it's supposed to be over 80 degrees today. *sigh* Also the pollen counts are off the charts and even effecting me, someone who takes daily allergy medication. Everyone seems to be walking around sneezing, coughing and with watery eyes. Ah, springtime in Florida!
  • I was excited to help promote the release of Vanishing Summer by Lora Richardson last week with several special posts. The cover reveal on Monday, an author interview on Thursday, and my review on Friday. (P.S. Vanishing Summer is still just 99¢ on Amazon so you can grab it for less than a dollar!)
  • Congrats to Aj for winning my blogoversary giveaway! And big thanks to all who entered. :)
  • I'll leave you with a throwback to one of my favorites, circa 1986.

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Hardcore loved this one. A new favorite. I think my review will go up tomorrow.
Finally... Church's story. Loved Dixie, loved Church. I can't get enough of this series.
Solid second-chance romance. Totally enjoyed it and my review will post later in the week.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

Getting Schooled - Emma Chase
Emma Chase is a master at combining swoony + sexy + funny. I'm loving Garrett and Callie. (Side note: I hate this cheesy cover so much. LOL I have a physical copy from the library and every time I finish reading I set it face down just so I don't have to see it. Ha!)

I kind of love that it's ending with Poppy's story. It's been a long time coming. I adore Wheeler - he is the sweetest! Only downside, the male narrator is just okay.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. Oh no... As much as I love the Spring and the warmer weather, the allergies that come along with it are certainly a bummer! It hasn't begun yet in New Hampshire, but it's definitely well on it's way! The trees have started to bud.

    1. Sounds like it's just around the corner for you, too, Erica. Everyone always raves about springtime but all I ever think is - ugh, allergies! LOL

  2. It's always exciting when the weather starts warming up, but it's so annoying that right along with warmer comes the pollen that aggravates so many allergies. Looking at your reading is making me want to pick up some Jay Crownover, I know I have a couple of these on my shelf.

    1. Allergies are so miserable. They're even effecting my husband this year and he's never had issues before. I picked up Jay Crownover's books on a whim a couple years ago and was immediately hooked! I hope you'll like them, too!

  3. It's allergy season here too Tanya! So sneezing for many people too. I wonder what you'll think of Getting Schooled! It's a favorite of my buddy Angelica ;-) Happy Sunday!

  4. Bummer about allergies! It was in the 80's here yesterday and will be again today. I swear it goes from winter to summer here in Southern California. We're cooling down by the end of the week, though.

I'm reading I Want You Back and loving it. Getting Schooled sounds fun even if that cover is cringeworthy, lol. Glad to have those covers on my kindle! :)

    1. Same here, Sam. I know it doesn't always happen and sometimes a total stranger who only used the "free entry" option (and nothing else) wins a giveaway, but it's always fun when sometime I know wins. :)

  8. Haha, I love that random. Thanks for hosting the giveaway! We still have snow here, so I don’t think there’s much pollen yet. It’ll get here eventually. Have a great week!

  10. I like JT Geissinger. Also I want to listen to Dirty, saw it in the Audible sale but they have it on audio at my library so.. The weather here has been just right for me 65-70. So far I'm not having pollen issues but it's coming. I always feel it in my eyes here, even though I take daily allergy meds too. Happy reading!

    1. I've yet to read anything by Geissinger so I'm excited for my new addition from her. :) Yeah, I think I'm going to have to up my daily dose of allergy meds. I typically take only half a pill but I'll have to go back to a full one until this pollen goes away. Gah!

  13. My allergies have been driving me crazy lately too (I literally started sneezing right as I started this comment), but I don't even have the warm temps to go along with it. I'd be happy to have 80s today (it was in the 20s this morning. Ugh!).

  14. And springtime last FOREVER in FL! It hought I saw you were getting a cold snap this week. Hope so.

I keep an eye on the weather because my house is in the process of selling and those spring storms scare me lol Stay away from my house!

  15. Spring is the absolute worst for me health wise. enjoy that 80 degree weather though!

I know what you mean about the Emma Chase cover. I don't generally like abs on my books which is why I usually get romance as audio or ebook.

    1. It is for me, too, since it kicks out major allergy issues (even with the daily allergy meds.) Ugh!

Yeah, I wish the Emma Chase book had been available as an ebook download (library). As it is I've been carrying it around in a book sleeve. LOL

  16. Ah yes the pollen..I hates it! LOL Getting Schooled looks good. I love Chase but haven't been able to read her since I was reading her when my Dad died. Isn't that awful, but true.

    1. I know just what you mean, Kim. I know exactly what book I was reading when my dad passed away last year. I haven't been able to review it and doubt I ever will. It's too tied into how I was feeling at the time.

  19. I'm desperate for the warmer temperatures to hit us! (I'll hate them when they arrive but that's not the point!) We had a lovely warm spring time tease last week only for this week to turn icy and cold again. :(

Hope you've had a good week!

    1. LOL Don't we always want what we don't have? When it's cold we want to be warm. When it's hot we want to be cooler. Can't we just have a happy medium? :)
