Review / Release Blitz: Stay For Me by Corinne Michaels

She's the girl who might be worth staying for.

Stay For Me by Corinne Michaels is now live!

From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes the final poignant love story in the Arrowood Brothers Series.

Hollywood taught me everything I know about relationships--except how to be in one. As an actor, I became an expert at faking it. Faking that I wasn't affected by my childhood. Faking that I was okay. Faking that I knew how to save the day, the girl, the whole damn world.

But I've always known the truth--I'm no one's hero.

Until I'm forced to move back to Sugarloaf for six months, and Brenna Allen offers me a chance to prove otherwise. She's everything I never knew I wanted, but can't have. Her broken heart, perfect face, and adorable children turn my world upside down. Instead of preparing for my next leading role, I'm directing a middle school play.

All to make her smile.

The more time I spend here, the more I want to stay. Build a life in this town that I swore I'd leave--for her.

But when the world comes crashing down around us, I'm forced to decide if staying for her is the right choice or if leaving is better for the woman I love.

I’ve enjoyed each book in the Arrowood Brothers series and I’ve been eagerly awaiting Jacob’s story, but at the same time I didn’t want the series to end. But if it had to end, Corinne Michaels delivered the story of two characters that I could not have loved more

Jacob was the Hollywood heart throb, the Arrowwood brother that lived in Hollywood, about as far from Sugarloaf as he could get. While home to fulfill the conditions of his father’s will, his only thought was returning to his regular life as soon as possible. But meeting Brenna changed all that. Brenna had been widowed almost a year after her Navy pilot husband died in an accident. Her young son idolized Jacob and the superhero he played onscreen which led to Jacob agreeing to direct the local school play. The attraction between Jacob and Brenna was off the charts and it didn’t take long before they both knew there was something more there, even when they were hesitant to admit it.

Jacob was so certain that he was unworthy of love and had nothing to offer in return. He would do absolutely anything for those around him and was so protective of those he loved. Brenna was an incredible woman who had been strong for so long and had spent years feeling as if she was always playing second fiddle to her husband’s career. These were characters that both had baggage but they talked and they were open with each other and generally acted like mature adults (gotta love that!). My only quibble was Brenna’s best friend Cybil. She was a bit much to take and her constant “Daddy always said” isms were really annoying.

I had to laugh at myself because at about three-quarters through the book I was feeling a bit smug – and, honestly, pretty surprised – that Corinne had not dealt her typical emotional punch to the heart. And I thought, okay, she’s going to end things on a lighter note and Jacob and Brenna won’t suffer like the couples in the previous books. Wrong! Wrong to the tenth power. I sat on the sofa, turning the pages, sobbing quietly while my husband looked on with a puzzled look on his face. So yeah, get ready because if you’re anything like me (meaning if a character cries you are going to cry right along with them) you’ll be shedding some tears.

There was a lot to love in Stay For Me. Brenna’s kids were great and so supportive of their mom, I loved all the scenes with the couples from the previous books, and of course Jacob and Brenna stole my heart. Corinne Michaels delivered an emotional and heartfelt end to a series that I’ve loved.

  4. This book sounds amazing! I'm weird and don't like to read books that have one of my kids names, like Jacob. But I bought Beloved by her a few years back, it sounds like I need to pick that one up to discover her fabulous writing!

  5. Besides Cybil's character of course because she sounds completely annoying, this sounds like a fabulous read! I love second chance romances where characters are able to find happiness after tragic circumstances. So glad you enjoyed this one Tanya and absolutely lovely review!
