The Sunday Post #210

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • We had some serious thunderstorms this week and got a good drenching which was very much needed. I love thunderstorms so it was heavenly to be sitting in the home office working right beside the window and enjoying the sights and sounds of the rain.
  • We had a visitor a few days ago. The Husband and I were looking out into the back yard one afternoon and out of the woods (our house backs up to a preserve) walks this little guy. He stayed close to the tree line but lingered for several minutes. I'm not at all outdoorsy (bahahaha!), nor am I an "animal person", but even I had to admit it was quite a sight.
  • I attended another virtual book event this week. On Wednesday night the Cary Memorial Library (I believe they're in Massachusetts) hosted a live talk with Kennedy Ryan and Sonali Dav. They covered some really timely topics and it was so interesting to hear their thoughts. And Kennedy answered a question I posed so that was pretty fun! :) If you're interested, the library has posted the video on their YouTube channel.
  • This week's 80's music fix is Avalon by Roxy Music (1982). One of the most gorgeous songs ever. Everything about this one just transports me - the music, the melody, Bryan Ferry's voice. Simply beautiful.

  5. Kennedy Ryan and Sonali Dev are both such lovely people. I have met Sonali multiple times and Kennedy just once but they are awesome. It's exciting to have these events and you got a question answered! I'll have to go watch as I like these 2 authors.

It rained all week here but upcoming week will be dry so that means yard work!

    Stay safe and be well!

    1. Kennedy Ryan is one of those people that I would love to get to just sit down and have a conversation with. I love her outlook and find her so intelligent and interesting.

  7. We live close enough to a large park to see deer, coyotes, and turkeys every once in a while. Always impressive. I do enjoy the rain...as long as I don't have to be out in it. You found a song that I do not remember! I hope you have a great week!

  9. Fun that you had a visitor! I love animals and wildlife, but we only get coyotes, raccoons, and the random pissed off possum. My daughter gets deer all the time and wild turkeys and I love it. I hope to move up by her in the next five years. Lots of things have to happen to do so, though. Sigh...

Looks like you enjoyed the Megan Quinn if you snatched up the second book. I'll have to check her out sometime.

  10. I actually saw two deer in our yard yesterday! That was the first time I'd seen any in the almost three years we've been here.

    1. I'm really excited for Queen Move but I'm determined to read the All the King's Men duet first.

  12. I love watching and listening to the rain fall too, storms not so much though, mainly just because they stress my cat out so much that he howls nonstop and ruins the peaceful mood, lol.

    1. Yeah, a howling cat would kind of ruin the peaceful effect of the rain. LOL

  13. We had quite the rain storm in Texas too! I'm happy to report that my newly planted front flower bed survived, and the plants seem to be thriving so far.

I returned to work this week, and it was great to be able to see all of my co-workers in person again. We were shut down for the latter half of the week due to the protests, so I actually spent time working from home again. I settled into that routine again easily enough, but I'm happy to be going back in tomorrow morning!

  14. We also had crazy thunder and lightning storms here this weekend. Our weather has been so crazy. It's sunny and 80 one day and 60 and pouring the next. Guess that's almost summer in Seattle, though! ;)Your visitor is super cute!

It looks like you had a great reading week! I am so excited to eventually read Queen Move!

  15. I love the sound of rain, it's so soothing, and the perfect backdrop for reading! I love book events, and it's so neat that now they are more accessible, with so many of them being virtual! I envy your backyard. What a sweet surprise to have such an enchanting visitor! I hope you're having a great week Tanya :)

    1. I've been so happy to see the creative ways that book events have continued to take place over the last couple months. It's been great to still be able to enjoy them, even if it's not in person.

  16. Thank you for sharing the video, hadn't seen that one. As for the rain, it's been everywhere over my way as well. Thunderstorms often. I love them so it's actually been a calming during these days. And yes, deer have been starting to come out and I'm not sure how I feel about that just yet. They don't always turn out to be friends lol... roads and all. But, the quietness of the country life is pretty great right now. Hope you have a great weekend and stay safe! <3
