Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

Yesterday our mayor announced that as of next Monday the work from home order will expire. The CEO of my company is extending that by another two weeks as a safety buffer, so the plan right now is that I'll return to the office on June 1. I have to say, it feels really strange to contemplate going back in to the office and resuming "business as usual." Although, it won't really be business as usual at all. We'll all still be keeping our distance. No in-person meetings, no lunch gatherings in break rooms, all the doors are propped open so no one has to touch door handles... plenty of changes. It will be interesting to see what this new normal is like. If you've been WFH, do you have plans to return to the office yet?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Currently reading: I'm barely into Rage and Ruin but even so, it's starting with a bang. Trinity, like every other JLA heroine, is impulsive and her spontaneity always gets her in tricky situations, but I still like her total badassery. (That's a word, right? It is now.) And even though I was 100% Team Roth all through the original trilogy, there's no denying that Zayne is pretty swoony. :)
Current progress: 8%

Currently listening: The narration by Andi Arndt + Shane East in Royally Yours makes the listening experience positively delicious. I love getting Queen Lenora and Edward's story.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
Big Summer took a turn that I wasn't expecting and became a different kind of story. (Sorry to sound so vague but I refuse to give anything away.) But once I adjusted my expectations, it was easy to get pulled right in to what was happening. Main character Daphne was someone that I felt such kinship with and I loved her journey. Weiner had a lot to say and, despite this novel being labeled as a beach read, it also provided plenty of food for thought.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

I only have one outstanding ARC and it doesn't release until August so my options are wide open. I might continue on with Devney Perry's Jamison Valley series and read The Clover Chapel. K.A. Tucker's follow-up to The Simple Wild, Wild at Heart, is another possibility. Or maybe I'll finally pick up Kate Stewart's The Guy and the Right and find out what everyone has been raving about.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  1. That's really good of your CEO to take a few extra weeks to prep. I'm so nervous for everyone who has to go back to work, but hopefully it will go smoothly.
Badassery is totally a word! ;)
I hope you enjoy your books!

    1. I'm lucky to work for some really great guys that truly put people first.
Thank you for the baddassery validation. :)

  2. I have no idea what's going on with my WFH status. There are only about 15 people working on site right now, my team. They do wellness checks in the morning, wear masks all day, the doors are propped open, and they are sitting 8 feet apart. You have some great picks on deck. The Guy on the Right was fun. So, if you need fun, read that.

    1. At least they're doing the right thing. And hopefully they won't push anyone to come back too soon.

I feel pretty confident about The Guy on the Right. :)

  3. My husband had to return to work, (he is an essential worker,) and it makes me so nervous. I'm glad your boss is extending the order, and making the changes necessary to ensure everyone's safety. I'm glad to hear Rage and Ruin started off with a bang, and you're loving the main characters. I have it for review, and can't wait to get to it! I can't wait to see what you think of The Guy on the Right! It looks like a fun read.

    1. It would make me nervous, too, Lindy. I've been so thankful that both my husband and I could transition to WFH.

Hopefully we'll both love Rage and Ruin!

  4. I'm happy your CEO is extending your ability to WFH. I can't imagine what changes they'll need to do to make the workplace safe. Our peak is supposed to be mid June so I expect we won't go back to work until late June.

    1. Wow, late June. That's a long time for you and Matt to be playing Pass the Baby at home. Hopefully school will be done soon so he'll have more time?

  5. It has to feel good to have a return date. We are still working from home "until further notice" so it is anyone's guess as to when we get to go back.

    1. Nice that you aren't being rushed back to work, Ethan. Staying home definitely seems best for now.

  6. I am really curious about Big Summer!
I don't have a set time for going back into work. I think even if they do open things up, I won't be going back for awhile as I'm perfectly capable of doing my work from home and I imagine they only want people on campus if they NEED to be. That's good your CEO is letting you all WFH the rest of May!

    1. That's great that you have the option/capability to continue with WFH, Lauren. Seems to be the best course of action now.

      I definitely recommend Big Summer!

  7. I'm soooo jealous! I can't wait for Rage & Ruin!! Glad you're enjoying it right from the start! Hope you love whatever you decide on next, and good luck getting back into the grove of things after you transition back to your office.

    1. I hope so, too, Alison. I'm excited to return to the office but still a bit nervous, too.

  8. My company is planning to start a "phase one" reopening in one of our 10 offices next week, but it's not mine. From what I'm hearing, actually going in to the office will be strictly on a volunteer basis so those who aren't comfortable going in will continue to work from home.

I agree about Weiner's book providing lots of food for thought.

    1. Starting next week there will be a two week voluntary return at my office. But we should all be back by the June 15. I'm excited but nervous.

  9. We're not going back until at least June 1, as well. It's good that your company is taking extra precautions!

    1. I could actually WFH forever and be perfectly happy but that's not really an option. LOL

  10. You are really lucky that you are able to work from home even after the stay at home orders are lifted. I had to go back into the office a couple of weeks ago and our orders don't end until Monday. It isn't business as usual since it is extremely slow so we are filling our time with other things.

I love that you only have one ARC so you can choose whatever you feel like reading. I am working hard to get to the point where I can do the same. Happy reading!

    1. I finally quit requesting arcs almost completely a year or two ago. I was tired of ignoring my own books. I still request one here and there by a favorite author but for the most part I'm excited to read the books on my shelves. :)

  12. Wow, it's weird that the WFH order is coming to an end. It's a little weird to think of going back into the office now, we're still firmly in the WFH phase, those who couldn't work from home have been told to try and return to work but I'm hoping that doesn't include me. I've still not read Wild At Heart, I was so excited for it's release but I worry, what if I don't like it when I loved the first book so much?

    1. Same here, Becky! I think I even pre-ordered Wild at Heart, And now I still haven't read it. Typical. LOL
