Top Ten Tuesday: Short & Sweet? Not So Much | Super Long Book Titles

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time few minutes trying to quantify exactly how long is a "super long" book title before finally deciding that I would go with anything over five words. How's that for scientific? I also find it interesting that three of the titles have "guide" in them. Was that a trend I wasn't aware of? :)

HAVE YOU READ ANY OF THESE BOOKS?

  3. Haha! Yes, I spent too much time trying to figure out what a long title is, so I skipped the TTT. But you did great! I like the title for the Kylie Scott book especially!

  4. Josh & Hazel is worth writing every letter in that title. It's a favorite of mine even if the title is way long

    1. That one wasn't my favorite by Kylie Scott but it was a fun age gap romance.

  7. The seven Husbands not only has me curious, but I've heard so many good things about her books and I liked Maybe In Another Life by her- I need to try more of her stuff.

  8. When I saw that we were looking for "super long" titles, I was thinking like ten words, but you know what, five is long - at least considering the books I've read this year. I've read two this year that are eight words long, but most were only three. Interesting.

    Happy TTT!

    1. When browsing Goodreads I noticed that so many of the books I read are 2-3 word titles. So anything over 5 sounded long. :)

  11. Loved Evelyn Hugo! I can see how adding the word "guide" to a title could definitely make it more descriptive!

  12. Hmm, the whole guide trend is interesting! That would make a neat post in itself.

  13. Hey, one of the titles on my list has "guide" in it too! Maybe you're on to something. I haven't read any of these but "It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time" is a fun title. I like when authors use memorable phrases like that. Plus in combination with the cover, the implication just cracks me up.

[edit: I just had a peek at the summary to see how far off I was, assuming this was not my kind of book, but OH SNAP that's actually pretty similar to a plot I've been looking for in a book! One of the closest matches I've found, in fact. Might have to go for it.]

  17. I haven't read any of these books yet, but so many of them are on my tbr. The longest title I can think of is...

  18. It seemed like a good idea at the time is certainly a mouthful for a book title!! There are so many wordy titles nowadays... It's a pain in the ass when talking about them. I blame long titles for the spawning of the acronyms like ACOFAS and it hurts my brain trying to keep up with those! Sigh.

    1. I hate when acronyms are used for titles! Sure, it's a bother to type out super-long book titles, but I can't always decipher the acronym.

    2. Acronyms abound these days! And when it's a book I'm not familiar with I'm completely lost as to what people are talking about! LOL
