Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Vampires, Shifters, and Witches... Oh My!
Books I've read with Paranormal/Fantasy Creatures
You all know that contemporary romance is my thing. And 99% of the time that's what I want to read. But once in a blue moon (or should that be once in a full moon?), I decide to leave my comfort zone and dip my toes into something different. And sometimes that includes a taste of paranormal/fantasy where some decidedly non-human characters are featured.
Here are some of the books I've enjoyed that include vampires, demons, dragons, witches,
shifters, and more.
A Wicked and Beautiful Garden - Katie McGarry
City of Heavenly Fire - Cassandra Clare
The Cruel Prince - Holly Black
Grace and Glory - Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Awakening - Nora Roberts
Wicked - Jennifer L. Armentrout
Haven - Mary Lindsey
A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maas
Wild Country - Anne Bishop
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown - Holly Black
Have you read any of these books?
I haven't read any of these, actually, and it's been a while since I read a paranormal romance, but I really should incorporate more!
ReplyDeleteI should probably try to incorporate more PN romance into my reading because I almost always enjoy it.
DeleteI love paranormal around this time of year. I've been wanting to rad Holly Black for forever seems like. Cassandra Clare and Anne Bishop's stuff looks fun too. I should get back into urban fantasy. I was reading some for a while...
ReplyDeleteUF can be hit or miss for me but I've found a couple authors who write the kind I seem to enjoy. Anne Bishop is at the top of that list for me. :)
DeleteI enjoyed The Cruel Prince and ACOTAR as well! The Awakening is on my TBR though and I'm looking forward to reading a "romantasy" by Roberts! A Wicked and Beautiful Garden looks good too though!
ReplyDeleteIt had been so long since I'd read anything by Nora Roberts but The Awakening really intrigued. I'm excited for the second book to release next month!
DeleteI'll have to check out that Katie McGarry title!
ReplyDeleteMcGarry's book was what I call fantasy lite... which is just my style. :)
DeleteI've only read McGarry's and Clare's books. I'll have to check out the others you have here.
ReplyDeleteIt's been sooo many years since I read any of the Shadowhunter books but I really enjoyed them at the time.
DeleteI do love me some good paranormal fantasy on occasion :) I loved the ACOTAR and Cruel Prince series and of course the Shadowhunter series. I love the cover for that Katie McGarry book, will need to check it out!
ReplyDeleteThe Katie McGarry book was a lot of fun and I'm excited to dive into the second book.
DeleteI've only heard good things about The Coldest Girl in Cold Town.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/top-ten-halloween-recommendations/
It's been years since I read that one and it's still a favorite!
DeleteI’m a huge fan of UF/PR, but I haven’t read any of these. I’m a Chloe Neill, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Darynda Jones, Kalayna Price kind of girl.

Happy TTT!
Lori
Sounds like you're a big UF fan! I've heard of all of those authors except one.
DeleteFun take on this week's TTT. I love the cover of A Wicked and Beautiful Garden. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, it has a gorgeous cover!
DeleteI just love the Fantasy/PNR genres, but I have only read one and didn't care for the ACOTAR series. haha (I know I am in the minority in that) I have been wanting to read Wicked though. I love Jennifer Armentrout.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have enjoyed these one though.
The Wicked series is a lot of fun! Typical JLA paranormal. :) I still need to read that final book, though.
DeleteGreat list! I enjoyed The Cruel Prince far more than I expected to.
ReplyDeleteThat one was such a surprise hit for me!
DeleteGreat list! I've read half and the other half are on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteMy paranormal/fantasy books are few and far between, but I've enjoyed most of these.
DeleteI have only read the Clare and SJM books. I don't really read a ton of paranormals though.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Sam. They paranormal reads are pretty infrequent.
DeleteFun! Supernatural creatures really aren't my thing, so I haven't read any of these. I do like a fun witch story, though.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I've seen several witch rom-com's pop up lately!
DeleteGreat list. I've read and loved several of these...the ACOTAR series, the Holly Black, and the Shadowhunters series. I haven't read the Katie McGarry yet, but that cover is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe McGarry book was kind of 'fantasy lite', which is my preference when it comes to any fantasy. I really enjoyed it.
DeleteI've heard of some of these, but I haven't read any of them.

DeleteLoved The Coldest Girl in Cold Town and Wild Country. I want to check out the Nora Roberts book. Great list here, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteThe Nora Roberts book was really entertaining. I'm excited for the second book to release next month.
DeleteLove this! This post definitely makes me want to read more fantasy again! I've read a few of these.. but there a lot more on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI very rarely reach for fantasy but sometimes it's a great change of pace. :)
DeleteI love seeing ACOTAR on this list. Did you know they're developing it in a TV Show?! I do hope they cast it right, because I can't have anyone messing up Rhysand, LOL.
ReplyDeleteNo, I hadn't heard that! They will have some seriously upset fans if they mess up the casting of Rhysand! LOL
DeleteI still want to read The Cruel Prince. I remember when it first came out and was EVERYWHERE. I'm just rarely motivated to read fantasy.
ReplyDeleteYes! It was so hyped at the time. I'm not at all a fantasy reader but I was so glad I took a chance on that one.
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but vampires are one of my favorite subjects. :)
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I love a good vampire character/story. :)
DeleteThe only book from your list that I have read is Wild Country. I do have the Holly Black and Nora Roberts books on my tbr though.
ReplyDeleteI love Bishops's Others series and am so excited for the next installment next year!
DeleteLove me some Shadowhunters! Several others on your list are on my tbr. I've enjoyed other Holly Black books but not either one of those yet. Great list this week!
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since I read another by Cassandra Clare but I really did enjoy the original TMI series.
DeleteI've only read the Cruel Prince from your list.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read anything paranormal in years! I used to be obsessed and then I just stopped for some reason lol
Karen @For What It's Worth
I rarely reach for paranormal but sometimes it's a fun change.
DeleteLove this post and I've read A Wicked and Beautiful Garden, The Cruel Prince, Grace and Glory, Wicked & Haven! BTW I still need to watch the Wicked movie, I've heard it's a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Same here, Jen! I'm tempted to get Passionflix for the sole purpose of watching Wicked. LOL
DeleteI have skipped this week as work was insane and I had no idea but you nailed it! I love that you chose the Coldest Girl!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so many years since I read that one but it's stayed with me.
DeleteI've read a lot of these. My favorite has to be A Court of Thorns and Roses.
ReplyDeleteLoved A Court of Thorns and Roses! I need to get caught up and read the most recent book.
