The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
My week was filled with work, physical therapy appointments, and packing. And I managed to squeeze some reading in there, too. :)
Speaking of reading, I finished Someone I Used to Know last night. Just... wow. Such an amazing and relevant story. It's going to be tough to review because I feel like I'm going to struggle to communicate how truly powerful its message is.
Closing on the new house is just days away now (Friday). Ack! That means packing goes into high gear this week.
Friday, August 31
WHAT I FINISHED IN THE LAST WEEK:
More Than We Can Tell was devastatingly good. Even better than its predecessor, Letters to the Lost. I was gutted by Rev's story. Fact: He is one of my favorite fictional characters ever.
On a Tuesday was a super short and entertaining read listen. A college sports romance turned second chance romance. Good times.
Amazing. Heart breaking. Real. Powerful.
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
I actually don't have a current read. I finished Someone I Used to Know last night and now it's only 6:00 Sunday morning so I haven't even chosen my next book yet. Gotta decide what I'm in the mood for...
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:
For about the 20th time. :)
I adore Simon. And this is audio book perfection.
NEW KINDLE BOOKS:
I own the paperback (and haven't read it yet) but I couldn't pass up the $1.49 sale.
I've had this on my TBR for a while and it went on sale this week so...
The one series by JLA I've yet to start. It's probably time.
FOR REVIEW:
People, you have no idea of the squealing, giggling and near-meltdown that happened when I got the approval email for this one.
1. It's JLA.
2. It's a return to the Lux world.
3. It's Luc.
4. There will be Daemon Black.
5. This is all I need in life.
I read the first two books in this companion series this year and really fell for the characters and for Loren's emotional story telling. I'm excited to continue on with Taryn's story.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!
Good luck with the closing (and packing)! Rev really is a special character. He definitely has a place on my short list of favorite fictional people.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Rev just owned me throughout More Than We Can Tell. Love him!
DeleteWishing you luck on the closing and the big move! Enjoy all your new books too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenea! It’ll be so good to have the move behind us and start get settled in the new house.
DeleteGood luck packing! Its my least favorite thing ever but I do love that it forces you to really evaluate all your stuff!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, Samantha! I’ll be so glad to be done with the whole packing and unpacking business!
DeleteGood luck with the move! I know packing sucks but I kinda love moving. It's a nice chance to purge and start fresh in a new space.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thanks Berls! We’ve done so much weeding out and purging while packing that it definitely feels like a fresh start!
DeleteGood luck with the closing and packing! Love Simon as well. I need to relisten soon. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. I’m excited about getting the move behind us so we can start settling in to the new place. I never tire of Simon. :)
DeleteGood luck with all of the packing, but yay for closing on the new house. I really want to read Punk 57 and Crossroads. :)

Thanks Lauren. Packing is such a pain, but necessary. I have high hopes for both Crossroads and Punk 57!
DeleteGlad you were able to squeeze some reading in! That GIF cracked me up. I HATE moving, although the part where it's all done is pretty nice!
ReplyDeleteHope The Darkest Star is really good!
Oh my gosh, moving is the worst. Packing has become my life. But I’m hiring my nephews to do all the heavy lifting and moving so that’s a plus. :)
DeleteI added Someone I used to Know on my TBR!!! Now enjoy Jennifer L Armentrout I've been denied! I get more and more refusals from Netgalley and it's really disheartening. Enjoy your long weekend!
ReplyDeleteSomeone I Used to Know was *so* good, Sophie. Upsetting and emotional at times, but so well done. Denied for The Darkest Star?! Oh no! I actually was shocked when I was approved. I have no idea what their criteria must be. Sometimes I swear it’s totally random.
DeleteI hope the move goes smoothly for you!! Just your little description of Someone I Used to Know is enough to convince me I need to read it. I added it to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Thanks Nicole. I’ll be so happy to have the move behind us.
DeleteI think you will really like Someone I Used to Know. It’s just that good.
I finished The Wicked King last week and have pretty much been a slug since then. It's too hot and I don't feel like doing anything lol
ReplyDeleteI need to kick it into gear this week though. I have quite a few Sept. ARC's.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
You have me so excited for The Wicked King, Karen! January cannot come soon enough.
DeleteI feel you on the heat. We couldn’t have picked a worse time to move. September in FL? What was I thinking?! LOL
Good luck with all of your packing this week! And yay for getting approved for The Darkest Star. I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne! We’re down to the wire now and at the point of just throwing every random item into a box and hoping for the best. LOL
DeleteI need to just dive in and try Whitney G. I have several of her books on my tbr. Good luck with packing and moving. You got this!!!
ReplyDeleteOn a Tuesday was my first by Whitney G. so I’m not sure how representative it is of her usual work. I’d definitely read something else by her, though. Next time I’m in the mood for lighter fare.
DeleteGood luck with the move! Everything crossed that it goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for The Darkest Star! However, I've given up hope of there ever being a book 2 in the Nephilim Rising series. :(
Thanks Nic! It’s down to the wire now and I’m so over packing. I want to just thrown everything in one big box and be done. LOL Oh wow, there are no other books in that Nephilim Rising series?? I had no idea. That kind of cools my interest a bit.
DeleteI just started Someone I Used to Know...good to know I'm going to be gutted. Perhaps I shouldn't read while on the treadmill. ;) I'm happy to see you got Crossroads - I look forward to seeing your thoughts. I'm a fan of Riley Hart. I also picked up Unchained in my quest to, you know, own a big ol' pile of JLA's books that love to just stare at me. O_O LOL Good luck with the move, my dear. It's gonna be great! :D
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Someone I Used to Know was just amazing. I loved the way Blount handled the topic and how she also put a focus on how it impacted the brother and other family members, not just Ashley.
DeleteI’ve never read Riley Hart so I’m excited to try Crossroads!
