The Sunday Post #130

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

What a week! It was an insanely busy time at the office, trying to compress an inordinate amount of work into a shortened week. Our biggest trade show of the year always takes place the week after Thanksgiving so preparing for that is quite exhausting. Somehow it always get done, but a side effect was a severe lack of posts on the blog. Between work and Thanksgiving preparation, there just wasn't time for blogging. *sad face*

For those that celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hosted this year and it was exciting to have everyone over at the new house. A few family members hadn't been over since moving day so things certainly looked different to them! :) My step-daughter and her family came from out of state so it made it even more special to have them with us. There was plenty of food, the kids (and a few adults) played football outside, lots of talking and laughing and just generally enjoying everyone's company. All in all, a truly wonderful day.

I pretty much hibernated on Black Friday - 'tis my tradition. No crazy crowds (or crazy traffic) for me. It was more fun to cozy up at home and give away a book. :) In case you missed it, I'm taking part in the Black Friday Book Bonanza giveaway. You could win a book of your choice so be sure to enter... and hit up all the other participating blogs for a chance to win books and other bookish goodies!

Are you sick of pumpkin pie? Or *gasp!* don't like pumpkin pie? Bustle shared their picks of desserts for those who hate pumpkin. I actually never had any of the desserts on Thanksgiving (what can I say, no sweet tooth) but I have to admit some of these sound pretty amazing. Gingerbread House ice cream, anyone?

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

What He Always Knew (What He Doesn't Know #2) *audiobook* - Kandi Steiner
I finished listening to this duet and it was super angtsy, but not in a bad way. LOL Steiner had a way of actually making the characters both believable and (usually) likable so it was easy to feel connected to the story.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
Still reading Bountiful. I really am enjoying it... there was just so little reading time this past week.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:
The Truth About Us (The Truth Duet #2) - Aly Martinez
I'm listening to the second book in this duet because, as over the top and downright ridiculous as the first book could sometimes be, I still have to know what happens. LOL

Not a thing!

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. Those OTT books hook me every time. They are like soap operas. We know they are ridiculous, but the plots are still delicious, nonetheless. Your celebration looks and sounds like it was fun. Love the pictures! I love pumpkin stuff, but alas, we had no pumpkin pie. *sad face*

    1. Yes! Total soap operas! LOL Some are fun, some are just too, too much. :)
No pumpkin pie?! *gasp!* I’m not sure you can still call it Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie. LOL

  4. Our Black Friday, or White Friday as we call it around here, has been eventful. We had guests whom we took around to show off the crowd and just gape at their crazy shopping antics. We didnt buy anything though.

  5. Well Tanya I see you had a fantastic Thanksgiving! And a very busy week ahead! Now I think most US bloggers did not post much this week and even from my side of the ocean I could feel it LOL
I didn't dare trying this duet by Kandi Steiner because ...angsty!!! LOL
Thank you for the giveaway!!!! And have a fantastic week!

  6. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving but I can't believe you don't have a sweet tooth! That is the only kind of teeth I have!!

    1. LOL Nope, I can do without sweets completely. Once is a great while I have a taste for a little something but it’s rare. And when I do it’s rarely chocolate. Just not a fan.

  12. Your Thanksgiving looks fun. I love the photos. Mine was quiet, but I ate a lot, so that was fun. Good luck with the work stuff. Have a great week!

  14. I'm kind of obsessed with your headband Tanya! I'm happy you had a chill Black Friday too!

I think pumpkin pie is okay, but I would lay my life on the line for sweet potato pie!

    1. Well thank you! :) It’s just a scarf I came across on Amazon and decided I must have. It makes for a cute headband. :)

Mmmm... sweet potato pie. I wish we’d had one of those on Thanksgiving.

  15. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving! And I'm the same on Black Friday- no shopping for me! I didn't even shop online lol, just recovered from too much food. :)

That Random is spot on, I suspect, judging from the Hallmark movies playing over here haha!

  16. I'm happy you enjoyed your Thanksgiving, you have such a beautiful family! Black Friday didn't go exactly as I planned. I did most of my shopping online for Christmas, but majority of what I needed to get wasn't on sale so MEH lol. I just started getting into audiobooks, but I think I'll struggle with listening to romance. How are listening to steamy scenes? It's seems like it'd be weird, but I definitely want to give them a try lol. It's nice to see you again btw :)

    1. Aw, thanks Tika. It was bittersweet this year without my father there. Our first holiday without him. But we had a good day.

Boo on the no sales thing. You’d think everything would be on sale. Maybe they were saving it all for Cyber Monday?

Steamy scenes on audio aren’t as cringey as you might think. LOL But I guess it also depends a lot on the narrator. I’ve come across some good ones.

It’s good to see you, too! Are you still blogging? I feel like I haven’t seen anything from you in a really long time. :(

  17. We went to a few stores Thursday night but just walked around. Then I ordered what I wanted online for store pick-up lol SO much easier than waiting in line.

  18. I try to avoid Black Friday! We live in a big city, so traffic is pretty terrible throughout the weekend. I've also never understood the desire to shop on Black Friday, since most of those items are on sale at different times throughout the year. Stores are always having sales! Plus, people today are crazy. You can't trust them not to be reckless or dangerous.

I'm glad your Thanksgiving was an enjoyable one! It's always fun to spend time with family, especially when they don't live nearby. <3

    1. Same here. Traffic is bad enough as it is but add all the crazy shoppers and it’s ridiculous. The local stations were giving traffic reports around all the major malls as early as 6 am. Crazy people!

Thanks, Lindsi. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving, too. :)

  19. It sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving, Tanya. I'm so happy you enjoyed your time with family. That's something to be thankful for. :) I hope this week has gone well with the trade show. And maybe you'll have a little time to relax soon?!? I'm excited you enjoyed Steiner's series because I just got the first one and I'm eager to start it. I laughed over you listening to Martinez's. Sometimes we just have to know, right?!? And that random about Hallmark movies...I saw that while we were at my parents over the holiday and since my mom had been running the Hallmark channel non-stop, my son got a big kick out of it! And then he argued that we'd just seen one that was the opposite. LOL

  20. What a lovely Thanksgiving. I love your time with your family and your day of rest. Great choices. I did a bit of online shopping but didn't go out to shop. We stayed home. I don't like pumpkin pie *gasp* so I made apple crisp. Plus I haven't done any GF pie crust, that's on my to be learned / found list. I hope this week was great for you! Anne - Books of My Heart

I have to admit, I don't like pumpkin pie... But, being British, my opinion on pumpkin flavoured anything is irrelevant. 😉
I envy you the lack of sweet tooth!! I wish I could pull mine out, lol.
