The Sunday Post #262 | September 26, 2021

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

My time off continued into this week as I was off Monday and Tuesday. It was the end of six glorious days off in a row and it felt like even longer. I really need to do that more often because midway into it I realized how very much I needed it. So that meant it was only a three-day work week which... yay! I could get used to that! :)

It seems like every blog I visited this week was filled with mentions of the first day of fall and the cooler weather everyone is loving. Um, can I have some of that, please? I guess I should just be happy that it hasn't hit 90 here in the last week (even though it was 88 a few days, but whatever). I want to do All The Fall Things! Better luck in October (or even November...).

Sarina Bowen wrapped up her Must Love Hockey serial with episode 13 this week. So much fun! I've loved James as he's appeared throughout the Brooklyn Bruisers series, so having him get his very own story (even in a short story format) was so great. Have you been reading the series? If not, I believe she's releasing the story on ebook and audio pretty soon.

This week's 80's music fix is You Take Me Up (1984) by Thompson Twins. Enjoy!

  2. The first day of fall was hot here. I was mad. It's been really nice in the mornings though - high 50s. Crisp and cool. It's still almost 80 in the afternoon. Work breaks are always great. I usually burn my days this time of year. One per week. Makes the week's feel a lot shorter.

    1. I imagine I'll be doing more of the same moving forward. My company used to have no cap on the amount of PTO we accrued. And I am notorious for hording it. But started this year you can carry over no more than 300 hours at the end of the year. I'm hovering right around that now so I'll have to take more time off before the end of the year. Not a bad problem to have. :)

    1. I'd love to have four seasons. Unfortunately we get two: really hot, and slightly less hot. LOL

  4. I worked so much overtime on Labor Day that work gave me an extra day off. It was glorious. I'm glad you enjoyed your time off. I hope the fall weather gets to you soon.

  6. Yay for time off! That is awesome! We had a taste of fall. This week, not so much as we are back into the 80's.

    1. Oh yeah, you can relate to the "technically it's fall but it's still freaking hot" thing. LOL I really need to get caught up with the Off Campus series!

  11. I love fall so much and I feel for you that you don't really get to feel the season. But then you don't get our winters either. We may get a month or two of fall weather but then its like cold till next april or may haha I had so much fun with "Four Letter Word" so I hope you really enjoy that one.

  12. So nice to have some time off! Yay for you! It's still hot here too, 90s last week but we're having 80s next, but it has been cooling off in the evenings so I'm seeing some color changes in the leaves. I'm so ready for Fall! My favorite season. My least favorite is Summer, and yes, like your random it's clingy! Lol.

Oh, I liked Down Too Deep by J. Daniels! I hope Four Letter Word is good too. I'll request it at my library if you like it.

    1. I don't know what it was about Down Too Deep, bot wow, I seriously fell for those characters. I'm hopeful that Four Letter Word and the others in the series will be just as good.

  13. I'm thrilled to hear you had such a nice relaxing vacation with a good week. I hope you get more of the cooler temps soon. It's perfect here. I don't have to plan my outdoor work to the exactly right hour to not burn or overheat - I can go out most any time.

  14. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation. We're just getting our fall weather today. Hopefully, you get some soon too.
I really wish Bowen was continuing Must Love Hockey and fleshing it out some more. I love it so much! I hope you love Quinn, Kennedy, and Daniel's books. They're all so fun!
I'm starting listening to Chloe Liese's book today and I'm so excited for it!

    1. Right? I would have kept reading a full novel's worth of James and Emily. It was so good.

I enjoyed Liese's latest. She has a certain style that doesn't always work for me, but I did really love Axel and Rooney.

  15. I hope you'll get some cooler temps soon. I'm so happy to finally have them here. The older I get, the more I dislike the extreme heat of summer. Your staycation sounds lovely. I hope that you're feeling well rested this week. :)

  17. lol Yeah, FL doesn't do fall. Winter is fall-ish.

We're having it all - upper 80's, 50's, rain, full sun. It can't make up it's mind.

  18. It's strange you should say everyone is talking about fall because it was only this week that the weather properly turned and it felt like a new season. I am already digging out my boots and I've got a thicker jacket out because it is getting chilly. I'm just not quite ready to have the heating on. I'm glad you've enjoyed your days off of work. I don't think anyone realises how much they need that break until they take it. I'm definitely realising I should have taken more time earlier in the year, but that's partially because I have so many days left to take.

    1. Boots and jackets... color me jealous, Becky! My fall/winter wardrobe (such as it is) gets so little use. Maybe 2 months of the year (3 if I'm lucky). *big sigh* It's a shame because I love all the fall/winter colors and sweaters and scarves and leggings!
