The Sunday Post #09

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

It's been a good week - particularly since I took a little time off Thursday and Friday and made a long weekend of it. It's amazing what just two extra days can do for you. I tend to be pretty bad about taking time off so this was a good reminder that I need it. I totally hoard my vacation time. Does anyone else do that? What am I hoarding all this time for - the zombie apocalypse? I have no idea what I'm saving all this vacation time for.

New commenting system
After weeks of issues with missing/disappearing Google+ comments, I finally ditched them and went with blogger default comments. I did some research and learned it's a fairly common problem with Google comments with no known fix. Nice, Google. I hated the thought of losing every single comment I've received in the switch-over (*sob!*), but now it's done and no more missing comments. #winning

Monday, March 14: Review of Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry (4.5/5 stars)

Tuesday, March 15: Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

Saturday, March 19: Hamilton Book Tag

Finished: Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry
Current: Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry

Once I finished Nowhere But Here a week or so ago I jumped right into the ARC of the second book in the Thunder Road series, Walk the Edge. That just had me craving more Katie McGarry so I immediately picked up Breaking the Rules. Revisiting Echo and Noah (from Pushing the Limits) is wonderful but their struggles are breaking my heart and I'm shedding some serious tears with this one.

PHYSICAL COPIES:

My Bookworm Box arrived this past week and I'm super excited over both books! Eighteen by J.A. Huss and Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan. They both sound *so good*!

  1. I took Friday off and spent my weekend spring cleaning my apartment. I ended up donating two garbage bags of clothes to charity. That felt great. I've been meaning to choose a book subscription box. Would you recommend the Bookworm Box? Have a great week, Tanya!

    1. Oh man, you're making me feel guilty for how little I did with my time off. LOL But go you! What a feeling of accomplishment. I did an impromptu closet purge yesterday and bagged up almost 40 items to donate. Although, I have to admit it wasn't entirely altruistic. My husband gave me an incentive: for every over over the first 10, he would give me $2 Amazon credit. That's all I had to hear! I ended up with over $50 in Amazon credit yesterday. Color me happy. LOL Oh, and I love the Bookworm Box! I've never once been disappointed in the books I receive, they're always signed bu the authors, the swag is fun, and all proceeds after operating costs goes to charity. Total win-win. Hope you have a great week, too!

  2. Sounds like a pretty great week, Tanya! I'm kind of jealous that you could take two days off- I'm absolutely jam-packed with uni stuff- but I daresay you needed it! What WERE you really hoarding all that vacation time for? :D It must have sucked so bad, having to make that decision about the commenting system, but hey, at least now you can be sure you won't lose you comments again! An absolute win, if you ask me :)

The Bookworm Box looks awesome! Hope you enjoy these latest additions to your TBR!

    1. I know, I know, it's ridiculous and I've been that way for years. My husband has to practically force me to take time off now and then. There must be something wrong with me. LOL I love getting my Bookworm Box - it's the best mail day of the whole month. :) Hope you have a great week, Ruzaika!

  3. This is such a fun post Tanya! I might have to jump on board with this weekly post! A while back I asked about "Life of A Blogger" because it was kind of just a check in for bloggers to update on their lives, etc, but apparently the host isn't doing it anymore. This sounds like a great alternative!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your time off! we all just need a little down time to re-energize ourselves! i personally am looking forward to having some time off this week as well! i'm on springbreak so i don't have class this week (although I do have gobs of homework and work this week still) but so far it's given me some extra time to catch up on things (especially blogging!)

I love that Nina Dobrev meme you used LOL. I'm still trying to wake up (with the help of my coffee) but that made me laugh! I am a big vampire Diaries fan

Last but not least I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO READ WALK THE EDGE! mostly for selfish reasons because I want to hear your thoughts so I can decide whether to read it or not;) i've heard a lot of great things about it and there's been a lot of hype on social media for it, so I want to find out whether it's worth it or not. can't wait to see your review!

Happy Monday Tanya! Sending positive vibes and good thoughts your way!

    1. I hope you will join in for the Sunday Posts, Emily! I'm sometimes hit or miss with them but I always have fun doing them when I have the time.

Hooray for spring break! Wish I got one of those. lol Although schools are out here this week and that makes my morning commute must easier without all the school buses so I guess that's my spring break benefit. :) Hope all the homework isn't too time consuming.

I've never even seen Vampire Diaries (or read the books) but the gif summed up how I felt while reading Breaking the Rules. Oh my poor heart!

Walk the Edge was wonderful!!! I might not have worded it right in my post but I've already finished both Nowhere But Here AND Walk the Edge. I think I loved Nowhere But Here more - but Walk the Edge is still so, so good. Breanna is dealing with stuff that just made me hurt for her and her family is just... ugh. And I loved getting to know Razor after the bits I learned in NBH. His story is heartbreaking and I was pulling for him so hard. It'll be several more days until my review goes up. I'm part of the blog tour and I'm scheduled to post my review and an excerpt on the 26th.

Happy Monday to you, too, my friend! :)

  5. I neeeeeed to do a binge of Katie's series. I got an eARC of Walk the Edge forever ago, but a print copy just came in the mail today so I'm even more intrigued. Of course, I fail at life and haven't read Nowhere But Here Yet. I sense a binge coming on! I really enjoy Jesse's Girl, so I hope you will as well. And that comic? Hilarious. And so true.

    Have a fantastic week!

    1. Oh you do, you do! A Katie McGarry binge is an excellent idea. :) I had pre-ordered Nowhere But Here last year and was so excited for it and then... the usual. Had to have it, dying to read it... let it sit on bookshelf. As you do. But then I got the arc of Walk the Edge and that was the push I needed. Both were sooo good but I loved NBH a little bit more. I love hearing how much you enjoyed Jesse's Girl Thanks for letting me know. I'm even more interested now after hearing that.

  8. OMG. I didn't know that Google+ comments were that bad. I never liked the look of them, so when I went looking for a new system, it was between Disqus and CommentLuv. I'm glad that things will be back to normal for you on the commenting front, though. It's so frustrating when you end up losing comments.

Reading wise, things look good. I haven't read any of Katie's books, but I'm always hearing wonderful things about them. I'll have to get around to her one of these days.

I hope you have a great week, Tanya! :)

    1. Yeah, it killed me to click that button that meant I'd lose every comment. But over the last several weeks it had gotten even worse with missing/deleted comments so I decided it was time. I hope you do eventually pick up something by McGarry. She's just so good and I've enjoyed everything I've read by her.

  9. Well, hopefully your comment woes will be all sorted, Tanya. It is a win that you won't have missing ones. :) Nice haul of books, too! I'm envious of your Bookworm Box. ;) And I giggled over the fact that we both now have Loving Mr. Daniels. YES for Katie McGarry! I need to put her in my queue. Good for you taking some time off! It is amazing what 2 extra days can do for you! :D

    1. I hope so, too, Brandee! I'm definitely not missing Google comments. Good riddance! So now we both have Loving Mr. Daniels... now if we'll just READ it. lol I'm dying for you to read Katie McGarry. I will be doing the happy dance when you do. :) And yes, even two extra days can make all the difference.

  11. I've never really had any problems with the regular comments on my Blogger, so I've just stuck with them. But I'd be so sad to lose the other ones! :-( Hope you have a good week!

    1. Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not sticking with the regular blogger comments when I first set up my blog but at the time I guess Google sounded good and I went with it. Live and learn!

  12. The comments look good! I'm glad you are able actually see them now. I just have to remember to click "notify me". Haha! But that's my problem.

    1. LOL Same here, Brittany! I'm, also finding myself just adding a comment instead of hitting "reply" to individual comments. Then I have to go back, reply to the comment, and delete my other one. Some habits are hard to break. :) But it's so much better than Google!
