Do you have a favorite back to school memory or tradition?
I read a lot of YA, so I get to go to many fictional schools. I seem to really like the ones in fantasy and paranormal books. Probably because they are so different from my school experience. I taught for 12 years, and don't miss "back to school" at all. I feel like I only enjoyed the shopping part. =)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I imagine after 12 years you don't miss the back to school part so much. And I always preferred the shopping part myself. LOL
DeleteGAH the only one of these I have read is Slammed (which I really enjoyed!) but I like the back to school idea! I must read the rest of these soon- I have most of them, so no excuses! The main thing I remember about going back to school and such is the weird feeling- you're half excited, half terrified, and it all just feels so... unknown and eerie. Great list!
ReplyDeleteYes! You nailed that feeling - half excited/half terrified. Although I think I leaned a little more toward the terrified side. LOL
DeleteThe only one I can recognize here is Eleanor and Park. But I am sure to check this list out!

So much love for Eleanor & Park! Now if only there was a sequel... *sigh*
DeleteYou have so many books I love here!!! I still need to read A List of Cages, Letters to the Lost and Sloppy Firsts. Great list!
ReplyDeleteA List of Cages ripped my heart to shreds. Letters to the Lost was emotional but so good. And Sloppy Firsts... oh my gosh, the entire Jessica Darling series is *so* good. It's one of the first YA (which turned into NA) series I read that felt 100% realistic. It wasn't cutesy, it wasn't idealized - it was completely authentic.
DeleteI love books set in schools - especially boarding schools (Harry Potter, Looking for Alaska). From your list, I love Simon Vs., Sloppy Firsts (I need to re-read it and continue with the series though) and I OWN Sea of Tranquility and Eleanor & Park that I need to read.

Boarding school books are always so much fun. The whole Jessica Darling series (including Sloppy Firsts) is so good. And Eleanor & Park remains one of my favorite YA novels.
DeleteOh my goodness, I read "Sloppy Firsts" so long ago and absolutely loved it. I haven't thought about it in a long time. That's definitely a reread I need to do!
ReplyDeleteSame here, Rachel! I totally want to do a reread of Sloppy Firsts and the whole Jessica Darling series.
DeleteGreat List Tanya! I NEED to finish Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and Eleanor & Park !! and NEED to get to Letters t the Lost and List of Cages! My favorite has to be Wonder, which is middle grade. OMG that book stole my heart and broke it in million pieces! I also just finished "One of us is Lying" set up in HS and loved it!
ReplyDeleteWoman! The fact that you haven't read/finished Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda has me rethinking everything I know about you. LOL Move that to the top of your list. I'll consider it a personal favor. ;-) And Eleanor & Park... gah! Read the books. Or listen to the audio. Both are perfection. Okay, go read now... I'll be waiting.
DeleteI loved Eleanor & Park. I haven't read any of the others but some have caught my interest. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteI have so much love for Eleanor & Park. Even the audio version was perfection.
DeleteOhhhh! Fun list! How bad is it that I haven't read any of these?? Simon & Eleanor are on my TBR though. 🙈 Maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteHope you are well! I'm busy catching up on the blogging world slowly!
Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and Eleanor & Park are two of my all-time favorites. So much love for those characters!
