The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
- I'm slooowly coming out of my reading slump. I think it's helping that I'm reading something completely different for me. I started a YA fantasy, Shadow and Bone, that has been sitting on my shelf for ages (uh, a couple years). Shaking up genres seems to be doing the trick because I'm really enjoying it.
- I attended a food tasting this week at the Renaissance Resort at the World Golf Village. Our company Christmas party is held there and since my boss was going he invited me to go along. Oh my gosh, the food! Butternut squash soup, roasted baby vegetables, rice pilaf with nuts and caramelized onions, maple-glazed chicken, red snapper with lobster sauce, butter rum cheesecake, key lime tarts... it was all so good! It felt like we all waddled out of the resort when it was over - and I definitely skipped dinner that night. Ha!

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
You know I want to hear about it! :)
I would love to go to a food tasting. I hope that next year, when my daughter is fully employed and we are no longer held hostage by the school calendar, we can attend the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. I have a sorority sister who goes every year, and raves about it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard ah-mazing things about the Epcot Food Festival. That'd be awesome to experience!
DeleteAh I really want to read Leigh Bardugo at some point but so far I haven't read any of her books, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI think the Grisha trilogy has been sitting on my shelf for at least 3 years. Now I'm loving it and wondering what took me so long. :)
DeleteBook slumps are the worst! I've been in one myself. I really enjoyed the first two books in The Grisha series, but I haven't read the finale yet. I find that switching up genres does tend to help me when I'm having trouble also. Hope you have a great week!

I rarely ever experience slumps but this one has really lingered. Shadow and Bone is definitely helping, though! I'm so hooked on the story!
DeleteI hate reading slumps. No matter how many books I pick up, I just can read a single page before putting it down. I'm happy to hear a different genre is doing the trick for you (I hope you love Shadow and Bone). Maybe I'll try it too next time I go through a reading slump.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings!

I had a bunch of ARCs over the past month or two and every single one of them was contemporary. I think that contributed to my reading slump. And it's probably why reading a fantasy right now is helping pull me out of it. :)
DeleteThe Renaissance resort sounds amazing :0 my mouth is watering already. Life is sometimes all about the food :D
ReplyDeleteLOL So true, Evelina! At least, it certainly helps! :) After tasting the food last week I'm definitely looking forward to our holiday party in December!
DeleteOMG, OMG, OMG you are reading Krista and Becca Ritchie!!!! I love those guys and adore every of their books but most of all Rose and Conner. I really hope you'll love them. ♡♡♡ Look I'm even throwing hearts around:D
ReplyDeleteThe food tasting sounded phenomenal !!! I would have rolled out of the venue after eating all these dishes.
I had a really long book slump in September and experienced some minor ones in October. That usually means all the books I read are rather meh. Last time I picked up an old favorite of mine. I hope the one I'm in right now is not as profound.
I have Six of Crows as audiobook and still haven't picked it up. It's sitting there and waiting for me to finally acknowledge it. But I'm growing in audiobooks at the moment, and it just has to wait until the right time.
Have a great day, and happy reading!!
No way! Another Addicted fan??? That's awesome! The audiobook I wanted from my library wasn't available yet so I figured why not reread (well, listen) to an Addicted book? Fuel the Fire in one of my favorites, even those Rose and Connor aren't necessarily my favorite couple. There's just so much that happens and a particular scene that makes me cry every single time.
DeleteI'm glad you are slowly getting out of your reading slump! Always good to hear. Ooh that food tasting sounds awesome.

Thanks Lauren! Yep, I'm flying through Shadow and Bone so I can safely say the slump is officially over. :)
DeleteGlad you are getting out of your reading slump! I would love to go to a food tasting festival someday!

DeleteGlad the reading slump is on its way out. I hate those!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thanks Samantha! Shadow and Bone has saved me from the wretched reading slump!
DeleteI just read the Grisha Trilogy not that long ago, and it was so good. You are in for a treat! :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you say that, Angie! I'm really loving it so far!
DeleteUgh, reading slumps are just the worst, here's hoping you're on your way out of yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane... this latest read seems to have ended my reading slump. Yay!
DeleteGlad to hear that you had a great week. The food testing sounds great. I hope you have great books this week and have a wonderful week. Happy reading. 😁❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks Geybie! :) Oh, the food tasting was heavenly. Wonder if I could find someone to pay me for tasting food and reading books? LOL
DeleteThis post made me hungry--but then again I am really hungry! LOL. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteLOL Go eat something, woman! :)
DeleteThat food at the Renaissance Resort oh my god..it sounds like heaven! Reading slumps are the worst. It's like a flu for book lovers. Hope this week is amazing for you.
ReplyDeleteFlu for readers... perfect analogy, Kimberly! :)
DeleteGlad the slump is slowly going away. I hate those and I'm in a sort of slump at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Ugh, sorry to hear it, Melissa. Hope your passes quickly!
DeleteGlad your slump is going away! That's great :)
ReplyDeleteAnd oh my word that food!!!! You're making my mouth water with those descriptions - that spread sounds DELISH <3 Yay for that experience!
So excited you're reading Shadow and Bone. I can't wait to see your review. Hope you love it!
Thanks Amy - me too!
DeleteOh, the food was delicious! Makes me excited to taste it all again at the holiday party.
I'm loving Shadow and Bone! I loved the Darkling, now I hate the Darkling... and I'm worried about what's going to happen next! LOL
Glad the reading slump is over. I made the mistake of burying myself in 2 epic fantasy books that are quite dense to read and need a lot of time and now I'm struggling. But otherwise the year is going well. And that food!!! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteAre reading both books at once? I've never been able to do that. Hope you're at least enjoying them both!
DeleteI'm beyond excited to see what you think of Shadow and Bone! I loved that series even though it started a little slowly for me.
ReplyDeleteThe food tasting sounds AMAZING. I may be drooling a little....
And I love your random pic! It's SO TRUE!
I finished Shadow and Bone today, Di! Sooo good! I'm dying to dive into the next book but I have two books for review that I need to get to first. I was actually buddy reading with my husband and he's almost finished, too. :)
