The Sunday Post #81

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Friday was the Marine Corps birthday and yesterday was Veterans Day. As a Navy Corpsman my husband served over 12 years of his career with the Marines and gave almost 21 years of service to this great country. If you are a veteran or have a family member who is - THANK YOU for your service.

  • I took Friday off and it's amazing what one extra day can do for your mental health! I spent most of the day with The Husband before he headed out of town for a car show and then I became a little hermit. It was fabulous. :)

  • Finally enjoying some fall weather! Well, fall-ish. For Florida. I'll take what I can get.

  1. Thank you to your husband for his service and to you for supporting him. I know the life of a military wife is not easy. Hermit mode is my mode of choice. I think because my commute is so time consuming, I revel in NOT leaving this house. It's so cold here too. We kind of missed out on fall weather and skipped straight to winter. Not happy!

Yep, hermit mode is my default. I get enough peopling all day at the office. On my own time tend to hibernate to recover. LOL

The Immortal Guardians book was a rec from Kim at Caffeinated Reader and I'm totally enjoying it!

  4. We have Remembrance Day on the 11th, which I guess is very similar to Veterans Day. 1 minute of silence to mark the end of WWI, a time of reflection (I've always found it quite sombre).

Sometimes it's just great to not leave the house isn't it? Have a good week ahead :)

    1. Sounds similar, Bre. Here, Veterans Day is devoted to honoring those who have served is the U.S. armed forces - at any time, not just a particular war or time period. Government buildings/agencies are closed, there are parades, etc. It's a pretty big deal (in my mind).

Yes, sometimes I just love to hibernate at home. :) Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

  6. Thank you to your husband for his service!

Fallish temps is Florida. lol... I grew up near Cocoa Beach, Florida. Our fall temps were in the 80's. ;) But at least we weren't snowed in during the winter like where I live now. My husband would go back in a heart beat.

Enjoy your Sunday and your week ahead.

Ah, so you know Florida weather. And when I saw we're having fall weather I just mean it's dropped below 80. LOL Today was actually something like 72. Heavenly!

  10. Your "Random Post" feels like my life! Just bought a few more books yesterday that I know I shouldn't.... but they were just so tempting! Who needs self control when it comes to a TBR?

    1. I so agree, Mallory! I mean, it's not like I think I'm ever going to tame the TBR... so why not keep buying all the books? :)

  14. I'm grateful to your husband for his service as well, Tanya. :) I'm happy you got to spend the day with him. I'm sure that was a treat!
I'm happy you're happy getting some fall-like weather in Florida. My son just lamented last night that it's not going to be warm here again for months. I don't mind though. :) I love that random quote...I tell myself that sometimes but I always know I'm lying to myself. LOL I can't wait to see what you think of Darkness Dawns. It's been in my queue forever...maybe you'll inspire me to finally pick it up!
    Have a great week, my friend!! {{{hugs}}}

    1. Thanks so much, Brandee. And yes, spending an unexpected day together was totally a treat. :)

Yeah, you would laugh at my idea of fall weather... it was 72 here today. I made sure I wore long sleeves. LOL

I was really enjoying Darkness Dawns... and then my Overdrive loan ended. Gah! I immediately tried to check it out again but I guess someone else had it on hold because now I'm #1 on the hold list. I don't want to want (potentially) another 3 weeks for it so I think I'm going to go to the closest library branch that has a physical copy. I was enjoying it too much to stop now! :)

  15. Let your husband know that we're all so thankful for his service. This country wouldn't be what it is today without those who serve and protect us!
