The Sunday Post #95

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • I had a great time at the Amelia Island Book Festival yesterday. Actually, despite there being almost 100 authors there, I only went to see Jennifer Armentrout. There were some pretty big names in attendance - Lee Child, Karin Slaughter, Steve Berry - but I just showed up for Jennifer's talk, then went straight to her signing and I was done. It was a much smaller event than I'm used to attending which made for smaller no crowds and plenty of one on one time. To give you an idea, at ApollyCon I waited in Jennifer's line for almost 3 hours. Yesterday I was second in line and there was no one behind me. LOL It made for some fun interaction. She even remembered that The Husband has always been with me when I've met her in the past and she asked about him. :)

  • The Plague cold has mostly passed. I'm left with some sinus issues but it doesn't seem to be anything that some OTC meds can't handle. And goodness knows I feel better!

  • Since my excitement for Love, Simon (the adaptation of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda - coming March 16!) is reaching epic levels, I thought I'd share a little Simon fun, courtesy of Epic Reads. So which Simon character are you? I got... Simon! LOL

What a sad week.

  1. Wow, you are a devoted fan! I'm sad to say I don't know anything about Ms. Armentrout's work but I'm glad that you love it! It makes reading so much more fulfilling when we have some go-to authors to "stalk"-- I mean "follow" :)

If I were you I would've been all over that festival trying to see everyone and then probably would've not enjoyed myself (crowds, lines, waiting impatiently....)

Have a good week, Tanya! Nice pic of you btw.

    1. Thanks Kari - I appreciate that. :)
I think had I been at 100% I would have stayed longer at the festival, sat in on more authors talks, and visited all the author booths. But since I'm still feeling a little puny, I made it a quick trip, just for JLA.

  3. Yay for meeting JLA!!! Glad to hear your feeling better. It has went around our house and is making the rounds again. Ugh! Fingers crossed I don't end up sick again. Have a great upcoming week.

    1. Oh no! Sorry to hear everyone is getting sick again, Jenea. That just sucks. :( I sure hope you manage to avoid it this time!

  4. Looks like a great book event, and yay for meeting a favorite author again! And ooh I love all those Epic Reads quizzes lol. I haven't even read that book but off I go ha ha! Hope you have an awesome week. :)

  5. I love that it was a low key event that wasn't packed with people! That is seriously awesome. And those were some big name authors so I am surprised it wasn't packed. JLA is an awesome author. Have a great week!

    1. I know! I've never been to such a small, relaxed book event. I'm used to the insane crowds at YallFest or ApollyCon so it was crazy to just walk right up and be first in line. AT Jennifer's talk I easily snagged a first row seat. In the signing area, Steve Berry stood right next to me having a conversation with a couple other authors. It was just so low-key. If only they were all like that. LOL

  6. LOVE that cake! It's so awesome!

I'm so glad you got to go to that event, although YIKES for 3 hours ;) You're patient! I love that pic of both of you, as well. And it's so cool she remembered you and asked about the hubby!

Have a wonderful week :) And enjoy not being sick anymore! Haha

    1. Well, the 3 hour wait was a couple years ago at ApollyCon... a *much* bigger event than the one yesterday. I wish all book events were as relaxed as the one yesterday! LOL

  7. Omg, I want that cake. Yum!!

That event sounds like a lot of fun. How cool there were some big names there, but I'm glad you were able to meet with the author you really wanted. :)

    1. Isn't that cake awesome? Love it.

Yeah, if I was a fan of Karin Slaughter or the others it would have been just as easy to see them and interact with them. Such a low-key, relaxed event. Wish they were all like that!

  8. I'm so happy you're feeling better AND you got to see JLA! Woot! That makes for a good weekend. :) I took the Simon quiz...I'm Leah. Now I'm really going to have to read the book. LOL I can't wait to see what you think of Stay and Moonlight Sins. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Tanya!

    1. Yes! Made for a totally great weekend! :) Leah, huh? Not a bad thing because Leah is totally cool. And I think she's getting her own book this year! Really enjoyed Stay... just not quite as much as Good Boy. And I'm excited to really get into Moonlight Sins... I'm only 30 or pages in right now. Have you already read it?

  11. I love Amelia Island. That's like such a twofer --- a book festival in an awesome place. Glad you had some QT with JLA. I am overjoyed to hear you are feeling better. Nobody deserves the plague. I have been trying to sleep a little more, because everyone has been getting sick at work. So far, so good. Though I most likely will not see it in the theaters, I am excited about Simon. I just gave my old Kindle to my sister, so she could read the book.

    1. So cool that you know Amelia Island. :) Such a quaint little area. Seeing JLA (without the masses) was a lot of fun. I'm used to attending events with hordes of people and you get 60 seconds with an author so that was a treat. Glad you are managing to stay healthy!!

  12. Those types of events are the best. I love that you got to hang out with JLA and chat with her instead of just getting your one minute signing time. And that cake picture is AMAZING!!

    1. Yes! I'm so used to huge events with long lines and long wait and, like you said, one minute signing time. This event was so much more low-key and it was a real treat.

  13. Neat that you got to go see Jennifer Armentrout at a local book festival. Ah, bummer about the cold.
I actually need a few weeks where I picked nothing up in my haul to get the TBR pile and review books better under control. LOL

    Have a good week, Tanya!

    1. And to think I almost missed the festival completely. Thankfully I saw Jennifer tweet about it a few days in advance.

Good luck getting that TBR pile under control. LOL :)

  14. I'm so jealous you got to go to the Amelia Island Book Festival, or really, a book festival in general. I live in an oddball part of MA where it's a couple hours in either direction to get to any type of book fest.

    1. Ugh, that sucks that you'd have to travel so far for a book event. I feel lucky that there are some close-by... but I've also been known to travel out of state for certain bigger events (ApollyCon, YallFest). LOL

  15. Yay! I'm glad you braved the weather to see JLA! It's a bonus that it wasn't crowded and you were able to chat for a bit. I get to see JLA in November, AND I'M CRAZY EXCITED.

Whoop, no more Plague! I'm glad you're feeling better!

  17. Karin Slaughter has been on my list for a while, but that's great you had time to chat with JLA (I should probably read her books too).

And crossing my fingers that the plague is done with you!

I love that you are this excited about Love, Simon! I can't wait for the movie either. So you got Simon huh! Lucky! I'll see what I get!

  19. Ah, I do like Jennifer Armentrout books! In fact, I'm kinda shocked that it's been so long since I last read one! I've been waiting on the final Titan novel to release so I can binge read the series (I stopped after book 1) and I'm so looking forward to Luc's book and a return to the world of the Luxen! She is definitely an author I'd love to meet. :)

Glad you're getting over your cold! I'm currently coming down with something and howling at the moon about it! lol
