The Sunday Post #137

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

This was the first full work week since before Christmas - and it seemed to last forever. Oh my gosh, by Tuesday I was already thinking "is it Friday yet?" Never a good sign.

Friday night we met up with family at a Japanese steakhouse/hibachi restaurant for my niece's 11th birthday. She had a blast it was great to see her have such a good time. Her gift request had me laughing, though. She wanted a body pillow. LOL Seriously? Not a toy, clothes, a game, electronics? Nope, a fuzzy/furry body pillow. So Aunt Tanya (and Uncle Robert) made it so. :)

Yesterday was filled with errands - car maintenance, hair appointment, etc - so hopefully today is less busy with more reading time. What's on your agenda today?

After watching this, I totally want to know the question that Chrissy answered with "Jimmy Fallon." :)

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

The plot twists in this one had had my head spinning. What an end to the trilogy. My review will go up in the next week or so, closer to publication date.

Super sweet romance. My first by Annabeth Albert but I'm sure I'll read more from her.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I've had this book on my shelf for at least four years. I've been dying to read it. It's a predicted 5-star read (do you ever predict your own 5-star reads?). But I kept putting it off because I enjoyed the anticipation too much (don't ask... I do this all the time). But I'm finally reading it and I'm in love. I don't ever want this book to end. (P.S. Another prediction: this book will most certainly crush my heart.)

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:

I just started the audio of this one so I'm only on chapter two or so, but that's all it took to remind me what a total badass Jude is.

Not a thing!

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

    1. Same here - Mia Sheridan's writing just does it for me. I always connect to the characters and the stories are always so emotional.

  2. A body pillow sounds good to me lol. At least you know she got what she wanted. I am waiting to see if my library gets in The Wicked King so I can start it. Love the random! Have a great week!

  3. I loved Archer's Voice! It was my first Mia Sheridan and I remember it so clearly. :)

This work week kicked my ass too. Not only was it the first full week back it was a monster... Funnily enough because of the US government shut down! lol. The joys of running a project in collaboration with a team in the US. Oh well. As justification to stakeholders for failing to meet a deadline goes, government shutdown is a pretty solid (and unpredictable!) one.

    1. Archer is positively breaking my heart. I'm hopeful for a happy ending but I have my doubts.

The shutdown definitely has far-reaching effects. That's what we get for electing a moron for president. LOL

  4. You sound like me, by Tuesday I was so ready for it to be Friday. It was the first full week in ages and it was the longest week! One of my co-workers said it would be, though. And your 11 year old niece wanted a body pillow? That is a girl after my own heart, they look so comfy I cannot lie. I saw Archer's Voice about a couple of years ago and never got to reading. Glad you're enjoying it. I can definitely relate with putting books off because you enjoy the anticipation for reading, I do it all the time. It's nice to feel rewarded when they totally meet all expectations.

    1. Oh my gosh, wasn't last week the longest ever? I thought the body pillow was a funny request from an 11 year old but she was thrilled. :) Holy cow, I don't think I've ever come across anyone else who puts off reading books like I do. And I tend to only do it with books I'm positive I will love. :)

  8. Oh, I love to see that you have given Annabeth Albert a go! She is one of my favorites. Yes, my first full work week, too, and boy did it feel it! I'm glad you enjoyed your nieces birthday. We had a birthday in my family this week, too. She turned ten, and I got her a children's cookbook to go with the mixing bowls she got for Christmas. LOL

    Thanks for sharing!

  10. I felt the same way about my work week. It seemed to be eternal. Hopefully the upcoming week will feel more normal.

That's so funny that your niece wanted a body pillow for her birthday. Just thinking about it makes me want one too actually, lol.

LOL at your random for this week!

  14. I have a fuzzy body pillow - it's wonderful. Your niece knows good things. That full week back was a beast, and we still weren't fully staffed and really, really busy. Can't wait until MLK Day! I have had Archer's Voice on my kindle for ages. I think it's an ugly cry book, so that's probably why I put it off for so long.

    1. Apparently Brooke has good taste. :) Yes on MLK Day! We've just gotta get through this week. Gah! I finally decided this was it... I WAS going to read Archer's Voice. He is so precious and this one better not end badly. My heart will not recover.

  15. Haha a fuzzy body pillow is such a cool choice! I totally need one of those too ;)

  16. I predict 5 star books all the time. Usually books by authors who have written other five star books. Usually I'm not disappointed.

I loved The Wicked King! I stayed up late on Tuesday night to finish it. I hope you like it as much as I did. That ending though! Now I want The Queen of Nothing ASAP!

The Wicked King arrived in my mailbox this week, and I ordered some books on writing: The Thesaurus of Rural Settings, The Emotional Wound Thesaurus, and The Emotion Thesaurus. Nothing else new, but I have plenty to read otherwise.

    1. I've been planning a post of five star predictions. I need to get on that and make it happen.

Oh gosh, you have me super excited to continue on with TWK! I'm only about 20% in and I am suspicious of everyone!

  19. I just finished The Cruel Prince so I am SOOOO excited to start The Wicked King. I agree, Jude is SUCH a badass. I love her so much. And this series has just completely blown me away???? I don't know why, but I had it in my mind that I probably wouldn't like it but it's so addicting! Also, ooh I am so intrigued by that Jennifer L. Armentrout book/series.

    1. I probably should have found a spoilery recap of The Cruel Prince before I started The Wicked King. It's been almost a full year since I read it and there have been a few mentions of characters that left me like, "who was that again?" I'm about 25% in and loving it so far. But I trust no one! LOL

  20. I used to watch the Tonight Show all the time. I don't anymore - I am usually just to tired to keep my eyes open. I just got The Wicked King too. I can't wait to read it. Now to just find the time. Have a wonderful week!

I’m about 30% into The Wicked King and loving it! Hope you get to it soon!

  21. Sorry it was a long first week back, Tanya. My hubs felt the same way and he didn't go back until Wednesday! LOL Hopefully this week has started off smoothly. I can't wait to see your reviews of JLA and Annabeth Albert...and Mia Sheridan too. I've had that book since I met her in 2015 and still haven't read it. Like you, I just know I'm going to love it so I have no idea why I keep putting it off. ;)

    1. Ha! That’s what I should have done... eased back into the work week. :)

Archer’s Voice is definitely on track to be a 5 star read - something that is very rare for me. But the ending better not break my heart! I’m so nervous.
