The Sunday Post #139

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

We are finally getting a little dose of winter so I'm rejoicing while everyone else is complaining. *laughs then looks around guiltily*

Last night I went to my first hockey game. Verdict? Loved it! Confession time: my interest in going to a game only came about after reading Sarina Bowen's Him/Us duet and WAGs series. I adore those books (and those hockey playing guys) and it kind of sparked my interest. My city actually has a minor league hockey team so it was easy to indulge my curiosity. The Husband and I attended a game last night (it was Military Appreciation night, which was even better) and had a fantastic time. Color me excited when I saw a player (on the opposing team, unfortunately) with Wesley on his jersey. Those of you who have read the Him/Us duet will know exactly who Ryan Wesley is. :) And there was a Blake on our team! I was so over the moon I had to share with Sarina... and even she was pretty excited. LOL

Today is cold and rainy - perfect indoor weather. I've got chili in the slow cooker, cozy blankets, and a good book. What more could I need? :)

What's your weekend been like? Have you done anything fun?

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Another winner from Katie McGarry. Totally enjoyed this one.

I cry at the same scene every single time

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I haven't done much reading the last several days so I'm only 30 or so pages in... but so far, so good.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:

My re-listen of the series continues. Nash is probably my favorite of the series. I love his good heart.

PHYSICAL ARC FOR REVIEW:

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I received a physical copy of Tracey Garvis Graves upcoming release, The Girl He Used to Know. Macmillan/St. Martin's Press was giving away 1,000 ARCs (so my odds weren't exactly bad LOL) and I was so excited to get home and see that package!

eARC FOR REVIEW:

I was actually surprised (and thrilled) I was approved for this one! :)

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. The weather has been great. I love FL during the winter. Although it's been pouring all day and that's not fun.

    1. Oh yeah, Sunday was nonstop rain here, too. I loved it, though. My perfect day is cold and rainy. :)

  2. Chilli!! I LOVE chilli! Everytime someone mentions chilli I just want to eat it. *sighs*

I haven't read any Sarina Bowen but she's on my TBR this year. Plus, I love hockey romances so this series seems like a good place to start!
Ice-Hockey isn't something we have a lot of over here but we get some NHL games on TV (at stupidly late times) which I watch when I can't sleep. Same with American Football, including the superbowl. :)

    1. Mmmm, chili is so yummy! And there was plenty for leftovers the next day. Yum! :)

I hope you get to some Sarina Bowen goodness this year, Nicci! She’s one of my very favorites. The Him/Us duet are my favorites from her, and then the WAGs books, which are kind of companions to Him and Us. Love her! :)

  3. I enjoy watching hockey. It's a fast moving sport. Baseball is boring. That's all about the food and keeping stats for me. Glad your first game was such a success, and how funny you got to see a Wesley. Fantastic! Rome is my favorite Marked book. I shed many tears reading that book. And yes! McGarry's book was great.

    1. I actually found an NHL game on TV last night (first time the TV has been on in a week, I think Ha!) and watched a bit before I went to bed. Talk about nonstop action!

Rome was so good. I can see why it’s your fave. I just finished Nas (which is *my* fave) and now I’m listening to Rowdy. I typically skip Rowdy on my re-listens because I *cannot stand* Salem (grrr) but I decided to give it a go because there are some secondary plot lines I wanted to experience again.

  4. I love it when books inspire us to go out and do something (like watch a hockey game) or interconnect with parts of our lives that are already there. It makes me love the books even more.

    1. Exactly! It's so much more than "just a book." I learn things, I feel things, I get inspired to try new things... how could someone not love books? :)

  5. I have to confess that I'd never been interested in hockey either before reading a few hockey themed romances. Not the same series, but it is a Sarina Bowen: Brooklyn Bruisers. Love that series! So cool she responded! I need to go to a hockey game!

I just got a copy this last week of Wild Country, too! I'm super excited as well. :)

    1. When I mentioned going to a hockey game to my husband he just laughed and said, “You do realize Wes and Jamie won’t be there, right?” LOL He knows me too well. :) I can’t wait to dive into the Brooklyn Brusiers! Trying to get caught up with True North first.

  6. I love ice hockey. It's one sport that I will actually go and watch, so I'm glad that you went to your first game and loved it. Cincinnati has a minor league team too - they are really good. How fun you saw a Wesley, and that Sarina tweeted you back! Love those two books, and I've read some other m/m hockey themed romances as well that are great.

    1. As soon as I saw there was a Wesley on the other team I was about to jump out of my seat. LOL I was so tickled when Sarina responded. Can you share some other m/m hockey romances with me, Lauren?

  8. Ahhh, I would like to go to a hockey game - so far I have been to a professional football and baseball game. I still need hockey and basketball. =)
Glad you had a great time!

    1. I’ve been to some pro football games (my city has an NFL team so that makes it easy) but I’ve only gone to minor league baseball games. I tell my husband that baseball is boring and he looks like I’ve lost my mind. LOL

  9. I’ve been a hockey fan since I was a little kid. I had to give most of it up because THERE ARE SO MANY GAMES, and it was cutting into my reading time. I did watch the NHL All-Star Game yesterday. That was fun. Have a good week!

  14. I'm glad you had fun with the hockey game! Tomorrow will be our coldest day this week, around 39, then it warms up again to be in the 70s next Tuesday. Not too bad. We still have some chili in the fridge along with some clam chowder. I'm just happy we don't have to go anywhere tomorrow and we can catch up on things. I hope to cook something and finish up some more sewing. But I also have a bunch of blog stuff I want to do and I'm behind on commenting this week. Sigh. Anne - Books of My Heart
