The Sunday Post #161

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • We're officially halfway through 2019... how did that happen??
  • While doing some shopping yesterday my car decided to not make the return trip home. Looks like it needs a new alternator. #AdultingIsFun (not really)
  • We've found a painter and he's going to be here Tuesday. Which means I have to settle on a color for the master bedroom now. Ack! This is a big decision! Someone come help me decide! #MoreAdultingFun
  • I'm looking forward to a short work week! Thursday is the 4th of July and I'm taking Friday off... so, hello four day weekend! I have no plans for the 4th (I can't handle the crowds and the noise) so staying in and reading sounds like a much better plan. For my friends in the U.S., what are your plans? A barbeque? The beach? Fireworks?
  • So, I never listen to country music but my 11 year old niece made me listen to this song and watch the video. And I really like it! So Brooke, if you're seeing this, thanks for sharing the song with me... and I know Thomas Rhett is your husband but I still say Jason Momoa is cuter!

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

I'm glad I read it but this was such a tough read. Truly heartbreaking and, to be honest, it made me sad. Morgan's pain was overwhelming at times and more than my fragile heart could take.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I'm about 175 pages into this one (roughly 50%) and totally loving it! Poppy is such a strong character - an awesome mom willing to work hard to support her son. I'm loving watching she and T.K. come back together after learning that neither of them had all the facts about what happened in the past.

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

I had pre-ordered this one since there was an offer for bonus content from Letters to the Lost and More Than We Can Tell. I was all for that!

eARC FOR REVIEW:

I've scaled way back on arcs but I couldn't pass this one up. Greenwood wrote one of my favorite books (All the Ugly and Wonderful Things) and I'm super excited for this one. I was shocked that I got approved for the arc but I downloaded it fast and ran before they realized they made a mistake. :)

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. Happy 4th of July, Tanya! I think your plan of reading sounds wonderful!

Car breakdowns are one of the worst parts of adulting... Choosing your bedroom colour is fun though!
I'm with you that Jason Momoa is prettier... 1000x prettier. But at least the song is catchy. :)

    1. Yeah, getting stranded by the car was no fun. Especially since it was about 95 degrees outside. Gah! I ran back into the store and called my sister to come rescue me. :) Jason Momoa is so hot! Too bad the 11 year old niece is too young to appreciate that. She thinks he's scary. LOL

  2. Adulting can be tough for sure!
I'm bad at choosing colors. For the bedroom, I always like white because it makes the room brighter and feel much bigger than it is. Jason Momoa is 😍 😍

    1. I've been in total redecoration mode and wanted to start adding some color. I'm doing the master bedroom in gray, pink and white so I settled on a soft gray for the walls. My fingers are crossed that it doesn't end up dark and gloomy! LOL

  3. I'm not the one to help with colors. We talked and talked about colors of our house for over a month. When we finally decided and went to Sherwin-Williams to get our paint, the clerk told us that color didn't come in an exterior paint! There were, she went on to tell us, no yellows in exterior paint. Good grief. Ridiculous.

I love the look of those books! Enjoy!

    1. No yellows in exterior paint? Um, I know I've seen yellow houses. LOL What a thing to hear after finally deciding on a color! Back to square one, right? :)

  4. I'm sorry to hear about your car! I don't know anything about cars, but I'm hope it's not too much of an expense for you. House painting sounds like fun, but I can imagine choosing colors is tough. I mean, there are like 50 different types of white you can choose from! So many choices.
I'm really glad you're enjoying Fumbled. It was really good for me as well. I just finished reading Call It What You Want and it was so good! I love Brigid's books!
I hope you have a good weekend, Tanya!

    1. Car wasn't too terribly expensive so that's was a plus. And I *finally* settled on a color for the bedroom and it's being painted today. Fingers crossed I don't hate it! LOL I can't wait to read Call It What You Want!

  5. Good luck with the car and paint - decisions, decisions. I am eager to hear about this bonus content, since I loved Letters to the Lost so much. Yeah for Poppy. She really was fantastic. I loved the kid too.

    1. Well, car is back all fixed up. And painter is at the house this very minute. Decisions made but I am so nervous to go home and see the result. I went with a soft gray (master bedroom) but I'm terrified it's going to look like a prison cell. LOL

  6. Adulting is so hard!! If its not one thing, its another, for sure. I am staying home for the 4th as well-its too people-y out there!

    1. Isn't that the truth... it always seems to be something.
And I totally agree about the 4th! Way too people-y!

  7. I am sorry for your car Tanya! But you had a bit of luck and got This Reckless Oath (I want that one but I don't think the publisher will choose me ..). And that's fun that you posted music today as I also posted a song recommended by son today LOL Happy week and enjoy the days off

    1. Car is back and fixed up so that's good. And I was so surprised to get approved for Reckless Oath! They must think I'm someone else. LOL Fingers crossed you get it, too! I saw that you posted something by Linkin Park... not quite my usual kind of music. Haha!

  8. Altrnators *sigh*. Gotta love when cars decide to not work all of a sudden lol. And yay for a 4 day weekend! We have no plans other than grilling out, and it's kinda nice. We will do fireworks, although honestly... we could probably stay home and the neighbors would have us covered. They're already going off at night now...

The Reckless Oath definitely sounds interesting!

    1. Yep, total pain, but at least I got the car back yesterday so it was only a one day inconvenience. There's that, I guess. You too with the early celebrating neighbors?! What's with that? We were hearing them go off Saturday night and Sunday night. Ugh.

  9. Oh gosh, sorry about your car! Not fun. I hope you have a nice, relaxing Fourth of July though. I don't know what I'm doing. I really hope the patch on my pool holds so that we can FINALLY swim. It's getting so so hot.

    1. Yeah, lame about the car but it wasn't too crazy expensive and at least I got the car back yesterday. Silver linings and all that. :) Pool time on the 4th sounds ideal!!

  10. I see the adult world is infringing on your fun, Tanya, ;-) I hope the bill for the new alternator isn't too catastrophic.

Hope you have a great week and enjoy your reads during your FOUR DAY WEEKEND!! Woop!Woop!

  11. I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles to pick paint colors. I have 12 samples sitting on my desk right now to paint my office and can't seem to narrow it down any further, lol.

    1. It's so hard!! The color looks one way on the sample, another way in the store and even different on the wall. Gah! We finally settled on one last night and now I keep questioning if we made the right decision!

  12. Adulting is no fun, I’ve been doing it for a long time. Picking paint colours isn’t so bad, the actual painting part ..ugh.

Have a great reading week, and a fabulous long weekend.

    1. LOL You and me both. :) It took three trips to Home Depot and multiple swatches on the walls, but we finally settled on a paint color. And the actual painting will be a breeze... for the guy we've hired to paint. LOL

  13. Momoa and no country for me too! ;) Adulting sucks and we should avoid it if possible. Too bad it isn't possible most of the time. *sigh* Hope you have a bit of fun this month and I hope you enjoy the new additions.

    1. When I showed my niece a pic of Jason Momoa she told me looked like he was from nightmares. LOL

Yes, avoiding adulting is ideal... just not always possible. *sigh*

  14. That really stinks about your car. It's soo annoying when your car needs worked on and then you realize how much need it! What colors are you choosing between for your bedroom? I love Thomas Rhett, but I also enjoy country music! Country concerts are the best!! Birthday is definitely on my radar and I still need to read Interception. I did get it recently from book outlet and I honestly can't believe it was on there! I really like All the Ugly and Wonderful Things and I'm really interested in Greenwood's new book.

    1. I know, right? It's like, how dare the care not work perfectly and inconvenience me? LOL Thankfully I had it back within a day so not too bad. I'm going with pink, white and gray/silver for the master bedroom. Very soft colors. I'm loving the progress so far! I hope you'll love Intercepted! After that one and Fumbled, I'm definitely a fan of Alexa Martin!

  15. Erm, why are you reminding me how much of the year is over already? I can hardly believe it's July, I think I skipped a month or something. I compeltely forgot Call it What You Want was coming out so soon, I've got an ARC I really need to start now, I am always behind on these things.
