Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Book Titles as Band Names
When I saw this week's prompt I just had to laugh because it seemed like all kinds of fun. When I was browsing my Goodreads shelves for possibilities, I actually came up with way more than ten. But here are my top picks. (And you have no idea how hard it was not to use Daisy Jones & The Six. LOL)
I'm thinking they're a middle of the road adult contemporary band. Think: Train or Jason Mraz.
A break-out indie band. Think: Foster the People.
A death metal band, definitely.
An early 2000's emo band. Think: My Chemical Romance.
Probably a boy band. Think: Five Seconds of Summer.
A hard rock band. Think: Metallica.
They're all over the Top 40 stations. Think: Maroon 5.
They're the latest and greatest in new age music. Think: Enya.
The country music darlings. Obviously.
Do I even have to name the genre? Think: Green Day.
Have you read any of these books?
Which title works best as a band name?
Love that you've tried to figure out what kind of band your book bands are. I've totally listen to The Simple Wild with it's indie tunes. And Punk 57 would be a staple in my collection.
ReplyDeleteLOL It was fun imagining what kind of music each would be. When I asked my husband what kind of band The Simple Wild sounds like, he said, "I don't know but I'll Google them for you." LOL
DeletePunk 57 is a great answer!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT .
Thanks Lydia :)
DeleteHaha, Daisy Jones & The Six was the first one that came to mind for me! Hope and Other Punch Lines would totally be an emo band.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike! As much as I wanted to, I just couldn't bring myself to use it. :)
DeleteSome great band ideas here!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2020/04/21/top-ten-tuesday-260/
Love the way you matched them with the kind of band they are. I think my favorite is The Simple Wild.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun imagining what kind of music they would play. :)
DeleteOof! I wish I hadn't messed up the topics for this week's TTT because this is so much fun! I think everyone is being so clever with their titles. I love all of yours! Punk 57 is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI've done that before, too, Nick. Isn't that annoying? Especially when it's a good topic! :)
DeleteNICK! You can do it next week. That's what I have done, when I messed up the dates.
DeleteWhat Sam said, Nick! :) I'd love to see what you come up with.
DeleteThis is such a fun topic, and you picked some great possible band names. I love that you shared the type of music they'd play too.

Thanks Lauren! This was a fun prompt.
DeleteWintersong would suit an Enya-esqe number... I could picture The Simple Wild as a folky band like The Lumineers. :)
ReplyDeleteGood call on The Lumineers, Nicci!
DeleteHeartland for country - yes! Hope and Other Punchlines would definitely be emo, but I was thinking more heart on their sleeve, like The Starting Line or Something Corporate. Love all of these.
ReplyDeleteYou lost me with The Starting Line and Something Corporate, Sam. LOL Never even heard of those. And now I have to Google them... :)
DeleteTHERE'S AN EGG BITE MAKER? I have you check that out for my husband.
ReplyDeleteI love all these band names, but Punk 57 is my favorite on your list.
You (or your husband) totally need the egg bit maker, Deanna. LOL
DeleteI'd listen to Punk 57 for sure!
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Perfect band name. :)
DeleteHope and Other Punchlines would definitely be a band I would have listened to. This is such a fun list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ethan - this was such a fun one to put together! :)
DeleteStorm and Fury is really good band name!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenea! It seem totally plausible to me. :)
DeleteI can totally see Wintersong as a New Age/Celtic band! And several of the other names really appeal to me as well. Heartland in particular...
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT.
Heartland was an easy pick... it just screamed country music. :)
DeleteThey're all great but I think The Simple Wild is an AWESOME band name!
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I would totally listen to The Simple Wild. :)
DeleteI love the Parks and Rec gif :D and Fuel the Fire would be an awesome name! Great list
ReplyDeleteI've actually never seen that show (I don't watch TV) so I just came upon the gif by chance. LOL
DeleteSuch a fun topic! I love how you even imagined what kind of music these bands would play.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole! :)
DeleteThe Simple Wild is great. So is 99 Days. Katie Cotugno would seem to be a good source of band names lol.
ReplyDeleteI think so, too, Greg! :)
DeleteI have only read one of these but I know many of these authors and sounds like these would make the best band names. Such a fun and unique topic this week!
ReplyDeleteIt really was a fun topic. Thanks Renee!
DeleteFantastic opening gif! I can't believe I've never seen that one before. I love your comparisons, but I seem to have gotten distracted by looking at all the REAL band names going, "Gosh, wonder what kind of story one might write with that book title..." (Five Seconds of Summer, in particular)
ReplyDeleteI do quite like your take on 99 Days, though. (Apparently I'm just drawn to amounts of time??)
That's an interesting twist... turning a band name into a book title. And then deciding what kind of story/genre it would be. Excellent! :)
DeleteI like Hope and Other Punchlines and The Simple Wild. This is a fun TTT. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel - it was a fun prompt. :)
DeleteOmg yes! I love that you've also included examples from the genres 😍 This is such a great list, Tanya! I'd definitely listen to Wintersong, The Fragile Ordinary, and Hope and Other Punchlines (definitely getting those emo punk vibes from that title)! This was such a fun post to do lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Dini! It was such a fun topic so I just ran with it. :)
DeleteGreat list. I like that you included the genre type and what real life bands you would compare them too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa! This was a fun one. :)
DeleteExcellent!! You even added real band names Tanya!!! I love the sound of The Fragile Ordinary or Punk 57!
ReplyDeleteI just had to make it tougher on myself by adding real-life comparisons. LOL
DeleteI agree about Daisy Jones & the Six. It took everything in me not to put it on my list, lol.
ReplyDeleteIt was too easy so I avoided it... but I was so tempted! LOL
DeleteGreat picks! This was a fun topic! I can't decide which I like best, but when I was considering whether or not to do a post, too, I had thought of The Simple Wild.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike, Alison! :)
DeleteI love this topic! So many book titles work perfectly as band names!!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
It was actually really easy to come up with titles as band names. :)
DeleteGreat list! One Day in December would be such a good boy band name.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised at how many book titles made great band names! :)
