Top Ten Tuesday: Book Titles as Band Names

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Book Titles as Band Names

When I saw this week's prompt I just had to laugh because it seemed like all kinds of fun. When I was browsing my Goodreads shelves for possibilities, I actually came up with way more than ten. But here are my top picks. (And you have no idea how hard it was not to use Daisy Jones & The Six. LOL)

I'm thinking they're a middle of the road adult contemporary band. Think: Train or Jason Mraz.
A break-out indie band. Think: Foster the People.
A death metal band, definitely.
An early 2000's emo band. Think: My Chemical Romance.
Probably a boy band. Think: Five Seconds of Summer.
A hard rock band. Think: Metallica.
They're all over the Top 40 stations. Think: Maroon 5.
They're the latest and greatest in new age music. Think: Enya.
The country music darlings. Obviously.
Do I even have to name the genre? Think: Green Day.

Have you read any of these books?
Which title works best as a band name?

  1. Love that you've tried to figure out what kind of band your book bands are. I've totally listen to The Simple Wild with it's indie tunes. And Punk 57 would be a staple in my collection.

    1. LOL It was fun imagining what kind of music each would be. When I asked my husband what kind of band The Simple Wild sounds like, he said, "I don't know but I'll Google them for you." LOL

  7. Wintersong would suit an Enya-esqe number... I could picture The Simple Wild as a folky band like The Lumineers. :)

  8. Heartland for country - yes! Hope and Other Punchlines would definitely be emo, but I was thinking more heart on their sleeve, like The Starting Line or Something Corporate. Love all of these.

  18. I have only read one of these but I know many of these authors and sounds like these would make the best band names. Such a fun and unique topic this week!

  19. Fantastic opening gif! I can't believe I've never seen that one before. I love your comparisons, but I seem to have gotten distracted by looking at all the REAL band names going, "Gosh, wonder what kind of story one might write with that book title..." (Five Seconds of Summer, in particular)

I do quite like your take on 99 Days, though. (Apparently I'm just drawn to amounts of time??)

    1. That's an interesting twist... turning a band name into a book title. And then deciding what kind of story/genre it would be. Excellent! :)
