This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Books To Good To Review
Kudos to Dedra @ A Book Wanderer for recommending this topic because it I feel this one soul-deep.
There are times when I read a book, love it, and can't wait to gush about it. I have so much to say and can't wait to share all the reasons why I loved it and why you will, too.
But then there are those books that hit me on another level. Ones that made such a lasting impression, or that I feel emotional about, and I know there is no way to adequately express my thoughts and feelings and do the book justice. Like, I don't have the ability to put the feelings into words. So I just don't. Otherwise the review would be an incoherent mess of: Gaaaahhh! I just... ! And then he... ! So much love! Gaaahhh!!
So in order to save you all from that kind of word vomit, here are some of the books that I've never reviewed... because I can't even.
Have you read any of these books?
Now I'm even more excited to read Simon!
ReplyDeleteEven though I've reread Simon several times, I still can't manage to write a review! LOL
DeleteGreat looking books here, even if they are all new to me! These are the books I found almost too good to review properly!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we just don't have the words. :)
DeleteHuge yes to Simon, Lydia Bird and Boyfriend Material. I think Lydia Bird is the only one of those I tried to review and felt like I didn't even begin to convey what a special read it is.
ReplyDeleteI kept thinking about Lydia Bird long after I finished, and still never managed to put my thoughts into a review.
DeleteHa ha that is definitely a problem with certain books! I've been having it more lately too. The Two Lives of Lydia Bird look really fun.
ReplyDeleteThat one was such a great story of grief and moving on.
DeleteHa ha. I love your description of the reviews you would right! Those would actually be fun to read, I think, because I totally get what you're saying. Sometimes the right words just do not come.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Actually, I wouldn't mind reading someone's review like that... so maybe I should go for it. :)
DeleteI loved Lydia Bird! I totally agree that books you've absolutely loved can be so hard to review!
ReplyDeleteLydia Bird was one of those that I thought about long after I finished it.
DeleteI've read several of these and I feel like they were so emotional, and it was hard to get across how I felt about them. Like I couldn't say enough? You have me curious about When You Come Back to Me. I haven't read that one because the first book in the series was more angsty than I could handle.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, The Girl in the Love Song was sooo angsty. I almost always give Emma's books a 5 but that one got a 4. I will say that When You Come Back to Me was super angsty, too, but someone it totally worked for me. It made sense. When they were apart it wasn't just to keep them apart. They were both so broken in different ways but their journey to come together was *everything!*
DeleteBoyfriend Material, yes! How excited are you for Husband Material??
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Nick, I am crazy excited for Husband Material! :)
DeleteI totally agree with Heart Bones... It's so emotional. I have Boyfriend Material on my TBR, can't wait to get to that one. Nice list!
ReplyDeleteHeart Bones wasn't my favorite from CoHo but it was still such an emotional read.
DeleteYay!! I'm happy you were excited about this topic! I've read Simon and Queen Move, both very emotional books! Several others are on my tbr, including Lydia Bird and Heart Bones. I've heard great things about both, and since I loved One Night on the Island, I'm even more excited to pick up Lydia Bird now. Great choices!
ReplyDeleteThe Two Lives of Lydia Bird hit me hard. It was one of those that I kept thinking about a long time after I finished it.
DeleteI couldn't properly review Lydia Bird because I was sobbing too much. Seriously, it was hard to not reveal what I thought were important things
ReplyDeleteI know. There are books I just want to say "just read it!!" or "it was so f-ing good!!" and I have no idea what else to add, lol.
ReplyDeletei haven't read any of them and i get what you are saying. sometimes, what you just said, is enough. lol

I've read Boyfriend Material and I really liked it. Haven't read any of the others. It always amazes me just how many books there are out there.
ReplyDeleteSo much yes to Boyfriend Material, Simon and The Charm Offensive - I adored all of them so much!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it always so hard to write reviews for the books that you love so much!? Lol my brain turns into absolute gushing mush 😂 I haven't read any of these but half of them are on my TBR and I'm very keen to pick them up. Hoping to read Boyfriend Material this year (finally) 😃 Great list!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm a word vomiter when I LOVE a book lol I tend to scale back and write a lame review instead.
ReplyDeleteI've read Boyfriend Material, Archer's Voice and just finished When You Come Back to Me last week.

I have that same feeling with books I love too. I think when I love a book so much putting into words all the thoughts are difficult because for me it's not just the book itself and how it was written but what it made me feel when reading that make it a great read and that's not always easy to explain in a review. I really enjoyed Boyfriend Material and I've been meaning to read The Charm Offensive and Queen Move.
ReplyDeleteGood post ^^
ReplyDeleteSimon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a book I keep meaning to read. I've heard over and over how good it is.
ReplyDeleteI really need to read Boyfriend Material and The Charm Offensive. Such a great topic this week!
ReplyDeleteI need to read Boyfriend Material. Everyone loves it! I have a few books myself that are so good I just can't review because I'd be a gushing mess.
ReplyDeleteI read Queen Move and to be honest it didn't work for me but I think Kennedy Ryan and I just don't jive as much as I want to enjoy her writing I just don't click with it. But I happy that one worked out so well for you. I just read my first Carian Cole so I definitely understand why you love her so much. I do need to get my butt in gear and read that Mia Sheridan one though because its been on my TBR forever it seems like.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking list. I only read Tied recently.. But a lot of these are on my TBR.
