THE WEEK IN REVIEW
I managed only one post this past week but I had good intentions for more (yes, I know what they say about good intentions 😉). I kept thinking I would get a review or two posted, but it just didn't work out. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were a blur. Thursday I worked from home but it was an incredibly busy day. And by Friday... too late, the week had passed me by. Better luck next week.
I was browsing Amazon (as one does) and came across a stunning special edition of Archer's Voice. Hardcover, foiling, sprayed edges... it gave me heart eyes. It even has annotations from Mia Sheridan. Naturally, I pre-ordered it. Just as I was wondering why I'd heard nothing about it (I just stumbled upon it while browsing), a few days later I got emails from both Mia and Hachette about it. It doesn't come out until November, but I can be patient (kind of). Isn't she pretty? 😍
Speaking of Amazon, when The Husband returned from his trip last week he gifted me with not one, but two hefty Amazon gift cards. *swoon* When he was leaving I had jokingly said "bring me back a present." And that he did. A man who gives the gift of books... positively dreamy. Thank you, Bebé! 😘
Last week it was Tony Bennett. This week it was Sinead O'Connor. 😔 Here's Mandinka from 1987.

ReplyDeleteI am very sad about Sinead O'Connor. 😔
Have a wonderful new week! ☀
La La - That was sad news about Sinead. And only 56. :( I'm excited for that Mia Sheridan special edition!
DeleteHaha, I can relate about good intentions and blogging. I WANT to post every Sunday and Tuesday. Does that actually happen? No. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj - Yeah, I have a lot more good intentions that actual action/progress. lol
DeleteSinead had wonderful talent. Enjoy your books gift.
ReplyDeleteThanks Harvee!
DeleteI haven't read Archer's Voice but I love this edition! I always seem to think that I am going to do more with the blog than I actually do. I hope that you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteCarole - I'm always impressed with how consistently you post on your blog!
DeleteI do love the new cover for Archer's Voice! All the new editions and covers for books I already own, I already don't have enough bookshelf space, lol, but I want them all. Hope you have a good week, and what a wonderful gift from your husband!
ReplyDeleteLisa Loves Literature
Lisa - Isn't that a dilemma?! I'm not one to rush out and buy every special edition - especially when I already own the book. But when it comes to true favorites, it's hard to resist. :)
DeleteI love the new cover for Archer's Voice too! I really want to add this one to my bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteAlicia - Archer's Voice is an all-time favorite so I was thrilled to see the gorgeous special edition.
DeleteI was the same way this week with posts. They... didn't happen lol. And there's not much better than amazon gift cards! :)
ReplyDeleteGreg - Glad to know it wasn't just me! :)
DeleteI'm eyeing that special edition too! It's a bit cheaper on Amazon than B&N so maybe I'll do that. So nice the hubby gave you gift cards for Amazon! I'd say he's a keeper. Yay for enjoying Kiss of Snow! It was one of my favorites of the series! Yes, on that random! My daughter lives in Texas now and the humidity is no joke!
ReplyDeleteRachel - I loved Kiss of Snow! It's definitely one of my favorites from the series, too. I loved the characters, the romance, and the direction the story took.
DeleteLow humidity is always a great thing. I love those words in the summer. The hubs is so sweet. I hope you find lots of amazing things that make you happy. I had seen the new Archer's Voice. I still haven't read it though I keep meaning to.
ReplyDeleteSam - Archer's Voice is one of those rare stories that I still find myself thinking about years later. I very rarely re-read, but I'd love to make time to re-read that one.
DeleteYay for a husband with great gifts. Also low humidity. We just have to hang on until September, then it usually gets a little better.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Anne - It gets *slightly* better here in September, but it's usually October before we get any real relief.
DeleteThat's a great husband! That Archer's Voice cover is pretty. I can't wait to hear what you think of all the stuff in it when you get it. I'll be curious to know what you think of The Women. I got an email for it, but haven't downloaded it yet.
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered Archer's Voice before I even realized it had the annotations, so that's an added bonus. I'm excited to read all of Mia's notes. Now to wait until November for it... lol
DeleteYour reading list has some awesome books.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nas! :)
DeleteWow your husband is a champ! I agree, that book is lovely! I definitely can see why you want it. I hadn't heard of The Women before now, but now I want it! Also, I feel you about blogging- I have not had a ton of motivation myself, but I have plenty of draft reviews half finished heh. Hope we both have better luck!
ReplyDeleteShannon - I wish I felt more motivated to bang out some reviews. Goodness knows I am waaay behind on those!
DeleteThat edition of Archer's Voice is stunning! Nice work to your hubby on those Amazon cards!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - I think I drooled a little when I saw the Archer's Voice special edition. lol Can't wait to see it in person in November!
DeleteI'm not from the south but my mom is and so I can agree with that random thought there from It's A Southern Thing. lol.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you read some good books this week. I'm such a slow reader so I only have one I read a week, usually, but I have so many I want to read! I'm new to your blog so, hello!
Also..so awesome of your husband. That is truly the best gift. :)
Lisa - Years ago I actually thought I was a fast reader. Then as I became immersed in the book blogging community and saw people reading 20 and 30 books a month I realized that I'm not such a fast reader after all. LOL I average 2-3 books a week, and that's only because I add audiobooks into the mix. :)
DeleteBooks are the very best of presents. Happy shopping! :D
ReplyDeleteLark - I couldn't agree more! :)
DeleteI missed my Sunday post this week. Had company and didn't plan ahead. Sweet presents and yes that is a stunning cover.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Sherry - Hope you enjoyed your company!
DeleteYour husband is a real sweetheart Tanya! And that edition of Archer is superb!
ReplyDeleteSophie - He is a sweetheart. I think I will keep him. :)
DeleteI've had good intentions regarding blog posts for... forever now. I'm just accepting the random moods, impulses and what not nowadays and posting whenever the urge strikes and the brain co-operates. 😂
ReplyDeleteYour husband knows what's what with the gifts! I love it. Amazon gift cards are my love language, lol.
Wishing you a low-humidity week!
Nicci - I'm with you. I quit stressing about any kind of blogging schedule ages ago. I post when I can/want to and that's that. Or as you say, when the urge strikes and the brain cooperates. LOL
DeleteBrowsing Amazon is one of my favorite things and it is also incredibly dangerous. There's no telling what I'll get in those browsings! What a sweet gift from your husbands. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKatherine - LOL I couldn't agree more. It's amazing all the things I come across on Amazon that I "need." :)
DeleteI got that email about the special edition of Archer's voice as well and am really tempted to order it! It is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSamantha - I can't wait to receive it. November seems like a long time off!
DeleteWe spent the weekend in Madison celebrating my little brother and his completion of his PhD in Chemistry. It was great catching up with him and his wife and seeing him in action with his science. We even got to sit in on his thesis defense, though I have no idea what he was talking about haha. I was sad to come home, but it is nice to sleep in my own bed again!
ReplyDeleteEthan - I'm with you, all the science talk would have gone right over my head. lol Glad you got some good family time, though!
DeleteI'm guessing the Monday-Wednesday blur was caused by high humidity :)
ReplyDeleteLucy - I can go with that. At this point I'll blame anything on the heat and humidity. lol
DeleteHa yes....I DO NOT miss that humidity! My husband has to visit New England soon and he's dreading it.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
Karen - I bet your husband is going to be so relieved to get home after that trip! :)
