Top Ten Tuesday: The Outdoors Edition

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This Week's Top Ten Tuesday Topic:
The Outdoors Edition

Today's topic is all about the outdoors - cover and/or titles with things found in nature.
I am the least outdoorsy person ever. Maybe it comes from living in Florida, where it's
blazing hot most of the year, or maybe it's just my nature (pun intended), but you won't
find me hanging around outside. I avoid the sun like the plague, I can't remember the last
time I was in my back yard (the only action it sees it when the yard guy comes once a
week to mow it), and going on a hike sounds like a punishment. So basically, the closest
I get to nature is through these book covers. 😄

Wild at Heart - K.A. Tucker
The Sweetheart List - Jill Shalvis
Credence - Penelope Douglas
Malibu Rising - Taylor Jenkins Reid
Fractured Sky - Catherine Cowles
Coming Home - Shelley Shepard Gray
The Choice - Nora Roberts

Are you outdoorsy?
Or does being in nature make you
want to run back inside? 😉

  1. If I could live comfortably in a small home amid the trees, mountains, and sea, I would.

  2. I'm not a big nature person either. I want to step outside, experience it for a few minutes, and then go back inside where there aren't any bugs, lol. Great selection of covers. That one from Amy Harmon is so eye catching!

    1. Bonnie - The Choice was a fun read - as was the entire trilogy.

  4. I love nature, but not when it’s hot. So I totally get why you’d stay indoors a lot and avoid the Florida heat.

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

    1. Lydia - I think it was a cruel twist of fate that I'm a Floridian that doesn't like the heat. lol

  5. These are so pretty! I've always loved that ocean scene on Malibu Rising!

  6. I love winter, but I agree with you about hating to go outside in the summer. It's too hot!

    1. Felice - I don't tolerate the heat well so I tend to hibernate in the summer. :)

  7. You picked some pretty nature covers today! I like the outdoors, but it doesn't like me as much as it used to. I never had allergies until I was an adult and now they get me. And I used to love heat, but now I hate being hot.

    1. Deanna - Funny how things can change as we age. I've had allergies since childhood but my husband has only developed them in the last few years.

  8. I'm not a big outdoorsy person either - I do like the outdoors, but not when it's cold or rainy or full of mosquito's and unfortunately that's like 80% of the time :D I do love those covers for K.A. Tucker's Simple Wild series!

    1. Lindsey - I can handle cold and rainy a lot easier than scorching hot and humid. LOL Tucker's Wild series has wonderful covers.

  9. I try to be outdoorsy as much as I can in the summer because the winters in North Dakota are usually terrible!! Although, our summers get to be pretty hot and humid too sometimes, so really, it's only the Fall 😂 I definitely prefer to spend my winter months indoors curled up on my couch.

    1. Kenn - I can't really imagine a North Dakota winter. Eeek! But curled up reading on a couch sounds like the best way to go. :)

  11. I enjoy spending time outside, but the summer can be too hot & humid (even here in Canada). I prefer the cooler weather, as I can always add a layer before heading outside. I tend to get sunburn in the summer even if I apply a gallon of sunscreen.

    1. Pam - Same! I much prefer cooler temps. You can always add layers. But when it's blistering hot there's nothing to do about it except dash from one air-conditioned place to another. :)

  12. Shalvis tends to have some great outdoor covers, and all the Simple Wild books were lovely. The Harmon cover is really picturesque

    1. Sam - The Simple Wild covers were all so gorgeous. I loved those. I wish there was more to come from that series but it doesn't sound like Tucker has any plans to return to it any time soon.

  13. I like being out in nature, as long as it's not for TOO long and the temperature is mild. I'm definitely not the camping/hiking sort, but I don't mind a pretty nature walk now and again, although I agree - nature-y book covers are more my style :)

    Happy TTT!

    1. Susan - Like you, I have "rules" about any time I spend outdoors. A short duration and the right weather are two main factors. LOL

  15. I love nature when it's cool outside but I haven't really been out in nature since before the pandemic.
The book covers you choose are beautiful!

  16. If there was a way for me to live comfortably in nature, I would get rid of my house and do so!

  17. What great choices you chose here. Catherine Cowles is perfection for that. But yes to Amy Harmon! Love her covers that deal with nature. My favorite is from RaeAnne Thayne or Emma Cane.

    1. Renee - RaeAnne Thayne is a great one for nature-themed covers. I'm sure I could have done an entire post with only her books (except I don't think I've quite read 10 from her).

  18. I'm the same way. I dislike being outside most of the year because of the extreme cold or extreme heat. When we do happen to get moderate temperatures, about a month of the year, then I'm more apt to being outside. I don't hike or anything like that, though, because I'm terrified of spiders and snakes. I do enjoy going sailing or swimming, but I'm covered in sunblock and my swimsuit is an actual shirt and leggings (swimsuit material) so I can avoid the sun.

    1. Jenni - Good for you for being so conscious of potential sun damage! I have so many friends/coworkers that are constantly having spots removed at the dermatologist (pre-cancerous and cancerous). I enjoy some pool time but then I've covered in sunblock. And then I run for the shade or back indoors. LOL

  20. I love the outdoors - or fresh air really - but I'm not like, an adventurer or anything. I became a hermit during the summer in FL lol

Summers are spectacular out here and I try to pack in as much outdoor time as possible. But more like eating outside, sitting outside at a concert, long scenic drives.

    1. Karen - I guess in some case it very much depends on your surroundings. In my case, I don't gravitate to the outdoors even if it's cooler temps and nicer days. Being able to dine al fresco does sound nice, though!

  23. What gorgeous covers! I love the Nora Roberts and the Jill Shalvis especially - and I liked those books! I have mixed feelings about the outdoors. I like hiking and stuff but I would like it much better if it didn't have mosquitos and all the things I'm allergic to!

    1. Katherine - I always say I would enjoy the outdoors more if there were no bugs, no dirt, and if it was air conditioned. lol
