The Sunday Post #16

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

It's been two weeks since my last Sunday Post and I'm so bummed I missed last week! But the previous week had been so hectic and exhausting that by the time Sunday rolled around I just didn't have it in me to post... or do much of anything. :) I totally vegged last Sunday and it was fabulous. Note to self: mental health days are highly underrated.

So, a quick update from the last *two* weeks: week before last included an unexpected trip to NC for a funeral. My sister-in-law's mother passed away and though I had never met her, my husband had known her since childhood and we went to be there for my sister-in-law (who is simply one of the best people walking this earth). It was a long three days but I'm glad we were there.

The day after we returned was an event I'd been excited about for months: Sassy in Jacksonville. I was there solely to see Krista & Becca Ritchie and it ended up being one of the best days ever. I also met up with my oh-so-wonderful friend Sarah (from Words With Sarah) and it was fantastic to see her again. I'll do a separate post on the event soon but suffice it to say: It. Was. Awesome.

This past week was a lot less eventful and it was actually nice to get back to the office and a regular routine. My only complaint these days is that summer is in full effect here in Florida and I'm about ready to hibernate until Thanksgiving. The heat and humidity are doing me in... and it's only June. It's going to be a looong summer. *fans self*

Monday, June 6Monday, June 6: On Monday I posted my review for One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Wow. All I can say is this not only instantly became one of my favorite books of 2016 but one of my favorite books ever and I can't recommend it highly enough. Read this book.

Tuesday, June 7Tuesday brought a post of me listing some of the reasons I love the Addicted series so very much. I was so tickled when Becca (Ritchie, half of the sister writing duo) read the post and tweeted about it.

Wednesday, June 8And on Wednesday I shared some of my favorite character names. I had so much fun going through my GoodReads lists and pondering all the character names.

Finished: The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Loved, loved, loved it. JLA is one of my go-to authors and she truly out-did herself with this one. It was emotional and heartfelt and I was completely invested.

The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith
I listened to this on audio which is something I very rarely do. I'm typically not a fan of audio books but downloaded this one on a whim and...wow. So powerful and so good. This one truly made an impact on me.

Current: The Edge of Juniper by Lora Richardson
Lora contacted me recently to read and review her new YA contemporary (which releases today!). I just finished it earlier today and I enjoyed it so, so much. This is *exactly* what I want in a YA contemporary and I'll be recommending this one to anyone who will listen. :)

PHYSICAL COPIES:

I received my May Bookworm Box this week and received King by T.M. Frazier and So Much More by Kim Holden. I actually already own King and had it personalized by Tracey when I met her last year so I'll be holding a giveaway for this copy at some point!

WON/GIFTED:

I won this new Kindle Fire from Jennifer L. Armentrout! Just for being subscribed to her newsletter. I am so often amazed at the generosity of authors (Colleen Hoover is a great example) who are willing to recognize and celebrate their readers. So this was an incredible surprise and I will certainly be grateful and think of Jennifer every time I use it.

KINDLE:

Back to Us - Teresa Roman
Last Will and Testament - Dahlia Adler
Slammed - Colleen Hoover
Adorkable - Cookie O-Gorman
Written on My Heart - Cole Gibsen
The Nightingale - Kristin Hannah

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?

    1. The author event was awesome and getting to Sarah again was great. :) And summers in FL are so lame. Might as well live on the sun. lol

  3. You and Sarah still need to tell me all about meeting the twin goddesses. And of course seeing each other. <3
For some terribly strange reason, I've yet to read The Problem With Forever. Haven't even reached for it. :/
Haha. I also grabbed Last Will and Testament since you know, sale.

    1. I know, I'm so behind on reviews and posts it's pitiful, but I'll get something posted about the event soon. The meet-up here in Jax was even longer than the one in Savannah last year. Loved it! :)
Must read The Problem with Forever. So, so good!

    1. Thanks Jazmen. It wasn't a personal loss but it's still never easy or fun to be there for stuff like that. I'm still mulling over my thoughts for The Problem with Forever. It's one of those rare books where I feel like nothing I can say will do it justice.
