The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
Hello! It's been two weeks since my last Sunday Post and I totally lay all the blame on WORK. This is always my busiest time of year, this two week period around the end of November and early December, and I always find myself just working to keep my head above water. And, unfortunately, everything else suffers in the meantime. Hence the sound of crickets here on the blog. :) I did manage two (super quick) posts but I haven't been able to visit a single blog in over a week. My inbox is exploding with notifications. Hopefully by next weekend I'll start to see the light and can get caught up - because I miss catching up with everyone's posts!
For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a great day with family or friends. We spent the day at my parent's house and I loved the time with them and my sisters. Since then I've been hibernating as much as possible - trying to decompress after a seriously stressful, albeit short, week at work and avoiding the Black Friday/shopping madness at all costs. How about you... do you go for the Black Friday shopping?
It took me a little while to get into Fire In You but once I did I enjoyed it so much. (I don't think it was the book, more like I was feeling a bit slumpy.) And even though I read (well, listened to) Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda just last month, I was already ready for a re-read. Definitely one of my favorites of the year!
Finished:
Fire In You (Wait For You #6) - Jennifer L. Armentrout
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Audio) - Becky Albertalli
Current:
Our Chemical Hearts - Krystal Sutherland
Jet (Audio) - Jay Crownover
PHYSICAL COPIES:
*From my November Bookworm Box*
I already own The Lovely Reckless but now I have a signed version which is always awesome.
I'm not familiar with J.S. Scott or the Sinclair series but it looks interesting. Has anyone heard of this one?
The Lovely Reckless - Kami Garcia
No Ordinary Billionaire - J.S. Scott
KINDLE:
Too Late - Colleen Hoover
Knight of Ocean Avenue - Tara Lain
Race the Darkness - Abbie Roads
How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
You know I want to hear about it! :)
I know how you feel, some weeks can be so overwhelming. At least you're taking a moment to decompress. I do black friday shop. I wait for it all year, but I've stopped going to the physical stores, I miss a lot of the deals. So, I've stuck to online shopping and feel totally accomplished! Hope the coming weeks are more relaxed and smoother. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jazmen. Once the next week or two passes things will get back to normal at the office. It's like this every year (our biggest trade show of the year is this week) so I know what to expect and it's always a little overwhelming. And I'm imagining you scoring some mega deals now that it's Cyber Monday! :)
DeleteYou sound super busy! I hope things slow down for you soon! I avoided the stores this weekend also, was in full hibernation mode! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, Tanya! Happy Reading!
Hooray for hibernation! LOL
DeleteOur biggest trade show of the year is always the week after Thanksgiving so it's always crazy busy at the office around this time every year. There's an end in sight, though, so that's good.
Hope you have a great week, too, Michelle! :)
Glad you had a great Thanksgiving! And sorry to hear it's been so busy, that can be stressful but hopefully that calms down soon! I don't do Black Friday although I did hit the mall on Saturday (I know, am I crazy??) but it actually wasn't too bad. Busy but not obnoxiously so.
ReplyDeleteI like that cover for Our Chemical Hearts a lot- hope it's a good read! And love your quote as well. So true!
Thanks Greg. Yeah, the work stuff should die down in the next week or so... so there's an end in sight. I can't believe you hit the mall on Saturday. Brave man. LOL
DeleteI like that cover for Our Chemical Hearts, too. I finished it last night and it was a good one.
I did most of my Black Friday shopping online, because there are some great deals and it's easier. I did venture out a bit though - mainly to get supplies to make cookies!
ReplyDelete-Lauren
I much prefer online shopping than getting our in the crowds (and traffic). And cookies... yum!
DeleteUgh to being busy. I also avoid Black Friday but did score some online deals. I can't wait to see what you think of Our Chemical Hearts because I just got it. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOnline shopping is the way to go! No crowds, no traffic... I'm there.
DeleteI finished Our Chemical Hearts last night. I'm going to have to think on it before I wrote my review because I have such mixed feelings!
Awesome set of books you got! I usually try to avoid Black Fridays due to people going insane on that day and just spend it at home with my family.
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
The few times I'm been out on Black Friday (years ago) I was appalled at the way some people acted. So greedy, so rude... as if their life depended on getting that certain item at 40% off. Just insane. I'm with you... I'd much rather be at home!
DeleteHi Tanya, I wanted to stop by and check out your blog and say thanks for the book from the First Annual Obsessive Book Nerd exchange! :) It looks like a good one!
ReplyDeleteNew follower. :)
Stormi
Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh my!
So glad you received it and I hope it turns out to be a really good. This was such a fun and easy exchange. :)
DeleteHere's giving you strength to get through your busy time at work! I am prepping for two trials right after Christmas so I feel you! It never gets easier, haha. But books are he best escape!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I need it, Eva! I was down in Orlando all day yesterday at our biggest trade show of the year and my body is feeling it today. Hello exhaustion.
DeleteNot sure I've ever asked, but what type of law do you practice? With two trials coming up I imagine you're going to be crazy busy this month, too.
And you are so right that books are the best escape!!
GIRL! GIRL. GIRLLLL! Ive been wondering where you were! Teehee! And I feel so much better knowing that I'm not alone in the world because I've been feeling extra slumpy and extra stressed lately! :( with school, Black Friday, holidays, and work I've just bit had the time to do too much of anything so please know that you are not alone girl!♡♡ take all the time you need to relax and decompress! We'll always be here!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, you are sooo not alone. Doesn't everything just feel so overwhelming right now?? I keep telling myself I can only do so much, try to concentrate of one thing at a time, but it's hard when I start thinking about all that needs to get done. Ugh. I want to ditch it all and just sit back and enjoy the holidays. Hee hee!
DeleteGlad you are doing good. I can totally understand the feeling of being overwhelmed. I don't do Black Friday, not brave enough lol. Hope you have a great week!~Aleen
ReplyDeleteThanks Aleen. :) I am so looking forward to things settling down at the office in the next week or so!
DeleteI really enjoyed Simon - hope you do too and I hear The Lovely Reckless is very good.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
Thanks Karen :) I just love Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and have read it twice now. One of my surprise favorites this year. I'm excited to start The Lovely Reckless.
