The Sunday Post #93

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Superbowl Sunday... will you be watching? I won't be glued to the TV but I'll be in and out, keeping my fingers crossed for the Eagles. The halftime show should be good (Justin Timberlake is such a good performer) and it's always fun to see the commercials.

  • The Husband has been felled by sickness. It all seems to be concentrated in his head - runny nose/congestion, sneezing - which sounds like a cold, but it also came on very suddenly which is quite flu-like. We'll see how he feels today before deciding whether to go get him tested for flu. My entire house is coated in Lysol and I'm practically walking around in a Hazmat suit. Fingers crossed that this is just a cold!

  • It's been a total book haul kind of week and it's made my little book loving heart so happy. A couple new releases, a couple steals from Amazon, an ARC I was excited about... I had a book delivery almost every day! :)

  • Greg at Book Haven has been killing it lately with his music selections in his Sunday Posts. He was on an 80's kick the last few weeks and I was totally reliving my high school days with each selection. :) I decided to add one of my own favorites this week.

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Royally Matched - Holly Black
The Julian Chapter - R.J. Palacio

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING
 Autoboyography - Christina Lauren

WHAT'S UP NEXT ON AUDIO:
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid

PHYSICAL BOOKS:
(This one had been pre-ordered since last September. LOL)
(So excited for the start of a new series from JLA!)
(A favorite author + a new release = Must Have)
(Was going to get this on Kindle but the trade paperback was only $5.59!)
(I'm not a big fan of mass market paperbacks but this one sounds *so* good.)

eARC FOR REVIEW:
Then She Was Gone - Lisa Jewell
Hardcover came out last year, paperback releases in April.
I guess they're doing another round of arcs for the paperback release.

I'm just putting this here for Daniela... because she knows that while I want to see her Patriots taken DOWN today, I still adore her. :)

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  2. Oh yeah, almost EVERYONE wants the Eagles to win - including my family. I hope your husband doesn't have the flu - but if he does, fingers crossed you don't get it.

    1. I had no idea so many people disliked the Patriots until this past week! LOL It was exciting to see the Eagles take the win.

And it's looks like The Husband just has a cold - no flu - so that's a huge relief!

  3. I am writing this as I listen to your song. I have not heard this in ages!!! I love the 80s! I think I saw someone with my HS haircut. Sorry the hubs is sick. This flu is crazy!!! I am making sure I get enough rest, keep hydrated, and wash my hands a lot. I had the flu once. It was terrible. I like The Ones Who Got Away. I actually have a DRC of the next book, and am pretty excited to get to it.

    1. That song is one of my absolute favorites. And one of the few times that I actually like the remake better than the original. Like you, I've only had the flu once - and that was enough for a lifetime! I'm excited for The Ones Who Got Away. Seems like it could be quite emotional.

  4. Ha love that Super Bowl graphic! And excellent song choice! Thanks for the shout- out by the way. After reading it I kinda wished I had picked another 80's tune lol. Oh well next week I'll be back with the program. :)

Hope your husband feels better soon, the sickness going around is crazy!I read somewhere today that the flu shot this season is only like 10% effective? Yikes.

the seven Husbands looks good, I like Taylor Jenkins Reid. and that new Lisa Jewell looks great too. I've read two of her books now I think, that might have to be my third. :) Lovely cover too.

    1. Yeah, I saw Pink Panther this week and I was like, "Oh no, the 80's run is over!" LOL

Yep, I read the same about this year's flu shot. Kinda scary!

I'm still getting into The Seven Husbands but so far I'm enjoying it - and the narrator is very good.

  10. I know nothing about football but I was rooting for the Eagles too. Did you see that SNL sketch about the superbowl? It was pretty funny. And I hope the sickness passes over you!

    1. I know! You can't count on other people to act responsibly (cover their mouths, wash their hands) so it's kind of scary touching *anything.*

Haha! I think a LOT of people enjoyed watching the Pats lose. I know I did!

  12. I hope that cold is just a cold and that you don't catch it! Fingers crossed!

I loved Say You'll Remember Me. My review of the ARC posted about 2 weeks ago. I just enjoyed it so much that I purchased the hardcover, too. :)

  13. That Superbowl graphic is hilarious. I'll confess to being completely without an opinion on pretty much all football---I saw a few minutes here and there of the game, but that's about it.

    1. I'm not really a football fan (or sports fan) either, Nicole. But after the Patriots beat my home team, the Jaguars, in the playoffs... I just really wanted to see them get taken down. LOL

  14. hahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha you always make me smile or laugh! Sorry it took me so long to get to this post! CRAZYYYYY week both at work and at home. That map is hilarious! Love it! But hey! we awesome people tend to be unpopular ;-) I still cant believe my beloved Pats lost! Sorry to hear hubby was sick! I hope he is felling better now! I have to read the rest of the Wonder series. That book was SO GOOD! did you watch the movie already? I haven't . I keep procrastinating because I need to be in a good state of mind :)

    1. Yeah, I figured you'd get a kick out of that... especially since you know I mean it all in fun and without a shred of mean-spiritedness. (Is that even a word?) Husband is starting to feel better but now I seem to be going downhill. Blah! I haven't seen Wonder yet but I definitely want to! Like you, I'll need to be in the right mood for it. Can't see it if I'm already feeling emotional/hormonal. I would be a wreck! LOL

  15. hey we are bookworms! The LEAST they can allow after reading this much is to coin out own words and terms so hell yeah "mean-spiritedness" is a word! sorry to hear hubby is down the hill again :( oh yup be careful with Wonder!
