The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
Our book blogging community lost someone special this week. I don't feel like this is the right venue to address it (in the midst of book hauls and what I'm currently reading), so I'll share my thoughts another time. But I considered Grace a friend and I will miss her.
- I don't know what it was about this past week but I was going to bed at the same time as your average third grader*. One night I barely made it to 7:00 pm. I've been feeling run-down in general and I suspect my B-12 levels have bottomed out again. Good thing my annual physical is coming up because I think it's time to start back with the B-12 injections. (*I actually have no idea what time third graders go to bed so who knows if my comparison was even accurate. I apologize to any third graders who were offended by my comments.)
- I went to a baseball game Friday night which was something new and different. The Husband is on the executive board of a USPS council (it's an ancillary position - he doesn't work for the USPS) and this was a group outing. They rented out the Sky Deck at the baseball grounds, there was a catered dinner, and - surprise, surprise! - the weather was actually perfect! It didn't rain and it wasn't sweltering hot! In fact, we were marveling that it actually felt totally pleasant out - in the mid-70's with a delicious breeze coming off the river. And a beautiful sunset. It made for a fun evening.
- I saw the trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood this week and almost got teary over it. Wasn't Mr. Rogers part of everyone's childhood in some way? And what perfect casting. Is there nothing Tom Hanks cannot do? I'm sure I'll be at the theater on Thanksgiving weekend watching this one.

Review: Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker
WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:
I'm so thankful Sam sent this one to me. I knew it was going to hurt my heart - and indeed it did - but I loved this story of loss and starting over, friendship and first love, letting go and finding peace and hope.
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
Even thought the advance reviews/ratings of this one aren't stellar, I love Renee Carlino and am excited to get into this one. I plan on starting it today.
Nothing this week.
How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!
Gah my comment got erased! Anyway, I feel so bad for what happened with Grace, especially for her little kids :(
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read The Last Post!
The baseball game sounds a lot of fun! ANd going to sleep early, too! I miss the days when I'd go to sleep at 8pm.

Doesn't it drive you crazy when the internet decided to eat your comment?! That happens to me sometimes and it always feels like it's only when I've written a long, rambling comment. :)
DeleteI have high hopes for The Last Post!
I've never been to an outdoor baseball game. It looks like so much fun! I'd love to go to one when we visit Chicago, I think.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to get your energy levels back up. That sounds awful.
I am eagerly looking forward to the new Mister Rogers movie. He's right up there with Mother Teresa for me.
I am off to look for Hope and Other Punchlines. Thanks for the thumbs up. Have a great week!
I think that was the first baseball game I'd been to. It was our local minor league team but still a lot of fun. I bet a game in Chicago would be an awesome experience!
DeleteThe Mister Rogers movie is going to be priceless, I think. What a special man he was.
I hope you'll love Hop and Other Punch Lines if you decide to give it a try!
Yeah! I am glad to hear you enjoyed H&OPL. You know I adored it. Mr. Roger's was one of my favorites. He was just a great person. I was sad that my own child did not embrace him the way I did. I mean, I wan't to live in the Land of Make Believe. I cannot believe it was cooler in Jax than here, but glad you had the nice weather for a night out.
ReplyDeleteLoved H&OPL! But oh my goodness, did it bring on the tears... several times. I didn't always watch Mr. Rogers (I was a Captain Kangaroo devotee LOL) but I still enjoyed him and his show a lot. He was such a kind and gentle man.
DeleteI saw the trailer for the Mr. Rogers movie and teared up several times while watching it. Tom Hanks really does capture him perfectly and I can't wait to see the film.
ReplyDeleteSame, Suzanne! He had such a pure heart and what he tried to teach and share was timeless.
DeleteTom Hanks is amazing! He is perfect in this role. Glad you enjoyed the baseball game!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Samantha! He is so talented and I think he'll truly do Mr. Rogers justice.
DeleteI hope you doctors are trying to find the cause of your B12 levels dropping as well as boosting them back up {hugs}.
ReplyDeleteAs a Brit, Mr Rogers wasn't a part of my childhood but Tom Hanks is such an amazing actor that I'm sure he'll do the American audience who has treasured memories of Mr Rogers, proud.
I hope you have a good week and enjoy your reads. Here's my Sunday Post
Flora x
Never have pinpointed why the B-12 is low so we just concentrate on boosting it. :) I agree about Tom Hanks... he's so gifted that he can carry off almost any role. Hope you're having a wonderful week, Flora. The weekend is almost here!
Deletehope you enjoyed the ballgame. we have a minor league team here that my husband works for and i do enjoy the games. the season is running out and i plan on going to one more before it ends
ReplyDeletesherry @ Sunday Memes
Wow, how interesting that your husband works for the team. I guess you find yourself at the ballpark a lot more often than I do. :)
DeleteThe news about Grace was shocking and I feel so for her family. Absolutely tragic.
ReplyDeleteThe game sounds like a lot of fun! And I hope you feel better soon- hopefully your physical will get you all squared away. :) And I agree about both Mr Rogers and Tom Hanks. So true.
Have a fabulous week Tanya!
I only lasted until about the 4th or 5th inning but it was fun up until the time I got bored. LOL It was more a professional gathering than anything so once that part was accomplished... time to go home. Ha!
DeleteMy heart just breaks for Grace's family. She was such a light to so many in this little community, but our loss is nothing compared to that of her children. I'm simply at a loss.
ReplyDeleteShe was so active in the community and so welcome and accepting of all. It's truly painful to think of her husband and children and their loss.
DeleteSorry you've been feeling under the weather Tanya! I hope things pick up for you. I remember from back in my anaemic days (they lasted on and off 10 years!) that I always felt more energetic after B12.
ReplyDeleteThe roof top dinner looks wonderful! I'm glad you had a nice evening.
Ten years of that... oh my goodness! There was so much going on last year that I let my B-12 shots lapse and now it's caught up with me. Hopefully I can get started back on them soon.
DeleteThe game looked fun! I can't believe we haven't made it to a baseball game yet this year! We usually go to at least one during the summer. I hope you enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to a game soon, Molly! We had a great time and might try to go back again soon.
DeleteOooh! Glad you had a fun time at the baseball game today!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!

Thanks :)
DeleteI am excited about the Mr. Roger's movie - and Tom Hanks is just amazing!! I hope you start feeling better soon!

Just from the clip it seems like Tom Hanks is going to do a fantastic job!
DeleteAnd thanks, Lauren... as soon as I start back on the B-12 shots I'm sure I'll pep right up. :)
Baseball and Mr Rogers, two things I know almost nothing about as an Australian ;) I agree Tom Hanks is a great actor though,
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
No baseball? No Mr. Rogers? Oh, the humanity! ;-) But I'm certain you have your own national pastime instead of baseball (soccer? cricket?) and your own beloved childhood TV show personality. :)
DeleteThat second picture with the sky in purple, pink and orange/yellow looks so beautiful. Good to hear you enjoyed the baseball game, Tanya! I don't know the specifics of baseball though but I do enjoy watching the game when it's on TV and I get entertained when the players start running.. I'm still trying to figure this sport out LOL I'm more of a hockey girl.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better though <3 And I'm pretty sure third graders won't mind haha.
Funny you mention hockey because I'm much more of a hockey girl, too! Overall I find baseball a bit boring but since this was kind of a professional obligation for my husband... off we went. And it was still a good time. :)
DeleteGlad to hear you had a nice night out and the weather wasn't horrible. We've been having a terrible heat wave here in California and I'm done with Summer. Glad to hear you enjoy Hope and Other Punchlines. :)
ReplyDeleteLike you, I am so over summer! I'm ready for cooler temps but that's going to be a long wait.
DeleteI just read your tribute to Grace and it was so beautifully written Tanya, Grace will be sorely missed.
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling exactly the same lately, tired and just unmotivated because I'm exhausted. Even reading seems like a chore some days. I hope after a few nights of decent sleep and rest, you'll be able to pick yourself back up Tanya.
Tired, unmotivated and exhausted... that about sums it up, doesn't it? I think we both need a recharge!
DeleteI was going to wait until I read anything you posted on her in the future but I feel like I kind of can't not say it: I am, of course, sending you all the love in the world and hugs and I hope that this week is being kind to you. I am so sorry for your loss and if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to reach out.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I don't want to try and make it sound like we were super close and the best of friends - I wouldn't presume to do that - but it's still a terrible loss. So unfair. :(
DeleteHi Tanya I am finally trying to catch up from what I have missed being away in London attending YALC! I am happy that Julie Buxbaum's book worked well for you as it's one that I plan to read! Let's hope that your physical comes back with that famous B12 that you'll need.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about about your trip! I've seen bit and pieces on Instagram already. :) Hope you'll enjoy Hope and Other Punch Lines. I loved it just as much (if not more) than Buxbaum's Tell Me Three Things.
