Unless you've been living under a rock (or taking total refuge in fictional worlds in order to avoid the real one - and who could blame you?), I'm sure you've heard that Google is discontinuing Feedburner's RSS email subscriptions. They've announced that this is effective July 2021 so no way to know if that means July 1st or July 31st, but suffice it to say that email subscriptions through Feedburner are now living on borrowed time.
Like many others, I'm not thrilled with the decision, but what can you do, right? Roll with the changes. :)
For those of you who subscribe to Girl Plus Books via email, first of all, thank you! And secondly, I hope you'll continue to follow along with either Bloglovin' or Feedly (follow buttons in the right sidebar). You can even subscribe to my Bloglovin' feed via email - just look for the box in the right sidebar where it says "Follow Posts by Tanya" and enter your email address. Not much will change and you'll still receive updates in your inbox any time I post. Easy peasy!
There actually aren't all that many of you who subscribe via email - most are already following on Bloglovin' or Feedly - but I wanted to give a couple options for those that do. And no matter how you follow, whether you're new or have been here from the start, whether you comment often or just lurk around quietly... thanks for being here. I appreciate you taking time to check in on what I have to say. For the record, I think you are delightful!
I'll just keep stopping by to check out your posts!
ReplyDeleteI would miss you if you didn't! :)
DeleteYou can also check out follow.it as an alternative to feedburner emails. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look into it. Thanks Nick!
DeleteI am like the only person doing nothing. We have almost 1300 email subscribers, but I doubt any are real. Probably all old junk emails. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I probably should have just carried on, like you, instead of spending a ridiculous amount of time figuring out how to add that stupid Feedly option. LOL
DeleteIt sucks they're doing this! I went the ConvertKit route. Hopefully, it works!
ReplyDeleteI hope that turns out to be a good option for you!
DeleteI'm not bothering with it. I checked but I don't have many subscribers and I don't even know who they are - they aren't regular visitors.
ReplyDeleteI don't subscribe to anyone myself so I'll stick with all the methods you mention.
they making blogging so difficult and it's liking they're trying to push us all into oblivion. I'm done jumping through hoops or paying for services.

Yeah, paying for an email service wasn't even a thought. I'm not paying $$ to blog. *eye roll*
DeleteI have so few email subscribers (compared to Bloglovin) but I decided to at least offer another option. I'm a giver that way. LOL
I've been putting off doing something about the Feedburner thing and I couldn't even get my subscribers following the directions either. I think a lot follow through Bloglovin but I think I'm going to sign up with follow.it. Maybe...
ReplyDeleteI can relate. I got the email from Feedburner back in April and I kept procrastinating.
DeleteI really need to do something about the feedburner thing. It's so hard to know what to do!
ReplyDeleteYes it is! And I'm not tech savvy enough for a lot of the options out there. LOL
DeleteI switched to MailChimp, but I had tried ConvertKit first (I couldn't get it to work for me, it stressed me out, so I tried MailChimp and it did not stress me out bwhaha). It's rough, because SO many of us started out on Blogger (and in many cases, are still!) and that was just kind of the default mail situation to use.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I am one of the rare people who actually likes the follow by email option (idk why, I just feel like I see posts more that way?) so it's going to be rough when so many people's emails no longer work.
Yeah, I know there are some that simply prefer the email option and that sucks for those of us who aren't tech savvy enough to offer a replacement. Boo. :(
DeleteI'm going to have to be more active on Bloglovin now :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully between Bloglovin and Feedly everyone can find a way to follow that works for them. :)
