Does anyone else feel like Christmas is speeding toward us like a locomotive? A couple weeks ago I was feeling all smug and accomplished because I had purchased several gifts and had my house decorated. Now I'm feeling stressed because Christmas is less than two weeks away and I am decidedly not ready. Tell me it's not just me.
It was another killer week at the office. Did no one get the memo that November (the busiest month of the year at the office) is over and that things should return to normal? Apparently not. Or maybe it's all just fall-out from November. Either way, it was an insanely busy week where I was often overwhelmed. Not a good feeling. Thankfully, The Husband is there to listen to me vent and arrange for takeout on nights that it's too much to deal with. He is the gold standard for husbands. ♥
Being overworked and overwhelmed equated to a quiet week on the blog. Only one post and that only made it because I wrote and scheduled it a couple weeks ago. I think it was Thursday before I managed to visit everyone's Sunday Posts. Better luck next week!
I meant to catch some Hallmark Christmas movies this week but that didn't happen. Well, I caught parts of two but I don't think that counts. Again, better luck next week! Does anyone have any favorites they've seen so far?
We're going a little non-traditional with this week's holiday 80's music fix. Christmas Wrapping (1981) by The Waitresses is a fun one. I have the video starting almost a minute in to cut out the long preamble and get straight to the lyrics. Enjoy!

I know that song! It's an earworm too, so I will be singing it all day. LOL! Glad the hubs is there for you during this time. It's terrible that we have two big holidays during busy business times. Someone needs to work on that.
ReplyDeleteRight? How dare they expect big projects to be carried out over the holidays. It's criminal. :) On a whim I decided to take off the whole week of Christmas so that's helped my outlook significantly. LOL
DeleteLove the song! I feel we're speeding towards Christmas too but at least now I'm in the Christmas spirit because we've been to the Pantomine and the trees are up. Thankfully, I bought all my presents on a day off in November bar a few stocking stuffers so I'm doing o.k. Hope you get caught up.
ReplyDeleteYou are my Christmas shopping hero, Emma! :) Next year I need to take your cue about knock it all out a month early. That would make for such a easier December!
DeleteChristmas is a very busy time! I'm your new follower and I invite you to my blog if you want to.
ReplyDeleteThanks and have a nice day.
It's not just you!!! I thought I was so ahead of the Christmas game! Put my tree up early, got gifts for most people and then BAM! Now, I'm freaking out because I haven't got anything ready for Christmas dinner!
ReplyDeleteI've only seen one Hallmark movie this year sadly, Dear Christmas. I want to want more!
I got some wrapping done over the weekend but still have plenty to do!
DeleteI panicked this week when I realize how close to the deadline we are for the Cybils! I have all of Christmas done so at least I'm not worried about that. I hope it calms down for you there!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for having all your Christmas tasks done!
DeleteLol I thought I was prepared for Christmas but I am NOT. I've been wanting to read The Simple Wild. I hope you enjoy this one!
ReplyDeleteI adored The Simple Wild. I hope you will too!
DeleteIt's not just you. I thought I was prepared, but now I know I am not! Looks like some good books this week, I will be reading Countdown to a Kiss soon as well! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLisa Loves Literature
Countdown to a Kiss looks so cute! Hope we will both enjoy it. :)
DeleteI'm sorry you're so busy at work. I hope it slows down for you so you can feel prepared for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too! I hate feeling like it's passing me by and I'm missing it.
DeleteI love Christmas Wrapping! So great! Hopefully work calms down soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope for the same... for both of us! :)
DeleteAww, your hubby sounds like a great guy! I started my Christmas shopping so early and yet I'm still not done!
ReplyDeleteI'm so close to be finished... I'll be so happy to cross these final items off my list!
DeleteWell you are far ahead of me on the holiday stuff. I have bought some gifts but otherwise have done nothing. I really hope you have a slow down so you can enjoy the rest of the month!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thanks Anne. I hate feeling like it's passing me by and I'm missing it all.
DeleteNope, definitely not just you. Work is still sucking the life out of me as well. I've only ordered two gifts so far and have no idea when I'm going to shop for the rest of the people on my list. Yay for your hubby doing what he can to make things less stressful for you. That's wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteUgh, I feel you, Suzanne. It seems like our work lives have been oddly similar the last couple month. We both need a break!
DeleteIt's not just you. :) I've barely started buying presents so don't feel bad. Everything is just crazy and the month is flying.
ReplyDeleteI think I saw Love Hard (Netflix) over at Karen's blog and the trailer sold me. We'll probably try that one. If you're interested...
Take care this week Tanya!
So true, Greg! The month is flying by. Hopefully we can get it all done. :)
DeleteI feel like ever since I became an adult, Christmas always speeds up like this so quickly. I just want it to slow down so that I can enjoy this time haha but it never works out that way.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Renee. Christmas is a whole lot different as an adult than it was as a child. :)
DeleteI totally agree with you!! Christmas is coming way to fast, and I'm not close to ready either.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your week was so crazy busy. I'm glad you got the support of your husband. He sounds amazing!
I hope you'll have a much better week. Happy reading.
I'm so thankful for my husband and his support. He's a keeper! :)
DeleteThe fitted sheets quote!!! Hahaha that's a good one. Christmas is approaching so fast!! Like, I wanted to enjoy December a little bit longer. I need to wrap up my gifts!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
Same here, Genesis! I really do want to slow down and enjoy it all, but there doesn't seem to be time.
DeleteHad a giggle over your random. So true! Sorry to hear you've been overwhelmed at work lately! I've had the same issue and it's hard to fit in reading much less blogging when that happens. Hope things settle down for you. Your husband is a gem!
ReplyDeleteExactly, when time is short something has to give. And that's when reading and blogging tend to take a backseat.
DeleteI love that after all these years you say that your husband is the gold standard of husband! Also you are wise to not push yourself too hard and post after hard work days. I learned to just relax in the envening and not push myself too hard on the blog too.
ReplyDeleteIt makes life easier when you can let go of the small stuff. And in the grand scheme of things, my blog is definitely the small stuff. LOL
DeleteI'm not ready for Christmas either. I've bought the majority of the gifts, decorations are up, I'm starting to bake, but it still doesn't feel like Christmas to me. Probably because it hasn't snowed yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about work love. I was talking to my SIL and she felt like work places were trying to squeeze even more out of people and I can definitely see it.
If I waited for it to snow to feel like Christmas, well... LOL I hope you get some snow soon, though!
DeleteIt's always extra busy and stressful this time of year at the office. It'll go back to normal soon enough. :)
I hope this week is decidedly less hectic and overwhelming - at least when it comes to work! It's crazy that it's now only a week and a half until Christmas. I'm okay on the gift front, for the most part, but there are still lots of things I'm trying to do and fit in!

Thanks Lauren! This week has already been so much better than the last 2-3 weeks. And I'm off all next week so that helps! :)
