This Week's Top Ten Tuesday Topic:
These Are My People - Bookish Book Characters
As a bookworm, is there anything better than reading about a fellow book person?
Whether a character is a reader, a writer, a bookstore owner, or some other bookish thing, I get positively giddy when I read about someone who loves books and reading as much as I do. It's like, instant connection! And I want to yell: you are my people!
Presley opens a bookstore (next door to the guy who is pursuing her).
Holden becomes a respected author (while pining for River).
Julian owns a bookstore (sometimes frequented by non-humans).
Kat is a book blogger (with a sexy alien next door).
Breen becomes a published author (in between battles and riding a dragon).
Presley loves to read (and gets sexy cowboy Colton to pose in her Bookstagram pics).
Sophie is a mystery writer (who finds herself involved in a real life mystery).
Hazel loves books (so much that she travels to Amsterdam to meet her favorite author).
Winnie helped run her mother's bookstore (and then fell for a professional hockey player).
Cassandra becomes an author (and gets pregnant after one night with a former MC member).
Have you read any of these books?
I haven't read any of these, but I love bookish characters, too! I especially love when stories take place in bookstores, it's a place I've always wanted to work!
ReplyDeleteI always thought working in a bookstore would be the best! :)
DeleteThese are my people, too!
ReplyDeleteBookish people are the best. :)
DeleteI feel the same way! I like reading about bookstore owners too because I'll never own one myself lol. Also, reminds me I need to catch up on Lisa Jewell.
ReplyDeleteI still have a few from Jewell that I need to read, too.
DeleteBookish folks are awesome! :)

Agreed! :)
DeleteLove Winnie from Kiss and Don't Tell! Great picks today!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Read an ARC for the release of Addicted to You (Ritchie twins). The only added content is one chapter written in his POV retelling a previous chapter, a playlist, and some text messages between characters. Thought you would want to know. Might be better to get from library than buy when it comes out.
DeleteDeanna - Winnie was such a great character. Loved her.
DeleteThanks for the heads-up about Addicted to You. I'll probably pass on it altogether. Oh, and I actually got declined for it on Netgalley! LOL I was like, seriously? Netgalley was how I initially discovered the book 8-9 years ago and started singing the praises of the whole series. But now I can't even get an ARC. I just had to laugh.
I've read a lot of books with bookish characters, but none of these! Nice list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy!
DeleteHaha, I totally feel the same way about bookish characters being my people :D Wait, Obsidian is about a book blogger who lives next door to a sexy alien? I need to read that... for science.
ReplyDeleteLindsey - Obsidian is older - I think it first released back in 2011 or 2012? - but it's still one of my favorite series of all time. I love me some Daemon Black (the sexy alien next door). :)
DeleteI haven't read any of these books but they look fun

Zoe - How fun that we both chose Hazel! :)
DeleteI totally agree with you!! I just love my fellow bookish people! :D
ReplyDeleteAaah Kat.. I definitely need to read that book again.
Maureen - I get so nostalgic for the Lux series. I should reread it again soon.
DeleteI am with you - bring on the bookish characters! I especially like when we can spend time in a bookstore too.
ReplyDeleteSamantha - A bookstore setting is the best!
DeleteKat made it on my list as well Tanya! And you also are my people lol
ReplyDeleteSophie - Gotta remember the book blogger character! :)
DeleteAuthors and bookstore owners are always so fun to read about! Love your list. :)
ReplyDeleteI love bookish characters and bookish settings. I've read blogging characters but those have been a mixed bag. Some of the authors don't get it and it's cringy lol
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, Karen. When they get it right it's awesome. When they don't... cringe.
DeleteI totally feel the same whenever I meet a bookish character! I can't believe I forgot about Winnie—I loved this book so much. Also, that Piper Rayne book is now on my radar cos that sounds like a really fun read! Great list 😍
ReplyDeleteDini - The Piper Rayne book (My Beautiful Neighbor) is the first in the series (although there is a prequel novella). I just love the whole series!
DeleteI've only read The Fault in Our Stars. I love bookish characters though.
ReplyDeleteLauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
Thanks Lauren!
DeleteI do love reading about bookish characters. When a character is a reader it just makes me like them more and I know we would be friends but I realise I've not really read any of these apart from The Fault in Our Stars. I obviously need to read more bookish characters.
ReplyDeleteBecky - Bookish characters - especially readers - are just instantly relatable.
DeleteI haven't read any of those, but I did look up Crowbones, Obsidian and have added them to my to-read, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteCassie - Crowbones is maybe 8 books into a series but you could probably read it on its own with no issue. Obsidian is older but remains one of my favorites. :)
DeleteI definitely feel the same way about bookish people being my people!

Bookish people are the best. :)
DeleteWasn't this a great prompt?! I never grow tired of reading about bookish characters. I've only read The Fault in Our Stars from your list, but several others are on my tbr. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dedra! This really was a fun prompt to do.
DeleteOh man, I can't believe I forgot Lisa Jewell's book had a bookish character in it.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - Even after all these months I still think about that book!
DeleteI haven't read many of these. I read The Fault in Our Stars ages ago and remember none of it. lol. I do love those bookstores in Anne Bishop's books!
ReplyDeleteCarole - Yeah, I was really going back a ways for The Fault in Our Stars. LOL
DeleteKat is actually the reason I blog now. I didn't know it was a thing till I read that books years ago!
ReplyDeleteCarrie - No way! How fun that Kat was your inspiration! :)
DeleteSuch a great post idea!! Kat was the first book blogger I ever read about.
ReplyDeleteSame here! I love how JLA made her a blogger. :)
