I thought this week would never end! It wasn't a bad week by any means, but work-wise the days felt long, even on busy days. I was so happy to see Friday afternoon roll around.
It's Saturday afternoon as I write this and in just a couple hours the Tampa Lightning will meet the NY Rangers for game 6. They currently lead the series 3-2 so if they win tonight they take the Eastern Conference Championship and play for the Stanley Cup! For the third year in a row! Tonight is a home game so I have high hopes that will play in their favor. Can't wait to pull on my lucky Tampa Lightning shirt at game time and cheer them on! :)
UPDATE: They did it! The Lightning beat the Rangers 2-1 and are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals for the 3rd year in a row! Wooooo!

Gas prices are creeping slowly (or not so slowly) towards $5.00 a gallon. It's $4.89 here which is just... *cringe* Now would be a good time to be working from home again!
Technically summer doesn't start for another week or so but, as with every year, Florida is ahead of the game. It's over 90 degrees (32 C) most every day and when I walk out of the office (where it's practically frigid) in the afternoon it feels like walking into an oven. Summer is my least favorite season so I'm not looking forward to the sweltering heat over the next several months.
I got my second Covid booster yesterday and I am so thankful for it. 🙌
I shocked (and impressed) myself by creating four posts this week. Who even am I? One to two a week is my norm but I was feeling all kinds of motivated this week. I have zero confidence that it will continue but it was fun while it lasted. lol
This week's 80's music fix is Monkey (1987) by George Michael. Love this song, love George Michael.

HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?
I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT!
I just googled and saw your team won - congratulations. I am sure people in my neck of the woods are disappointed. I apparently never knew the name of the GM song was Monkey. I know the song and the name makes sense, but I did not recognize it by name. I still keep hoping my company will allow some lines of business to do hybrid, and hopefully, the increasing gas prices do not result in an increase in train fares. A girl can wish.
ReplyDeleteSam - Yeah, I imagine Rangers fan are pretty down right now. They're a good team with a great goalie. It's super exciting to see my team compete for the Cup three years in a row. :)
DeleteFingers crossed the train fares don't start shooting up, too.
Congrats Tampa Bay Lightning!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie! :)
DeleteCongrats to the Lightning! I watched that game, and it was a good one. I guess your favorite team is about to play my favorite team for the cup. :) I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Aj! It was fun series. I was concerned when the Rangers won the first two games but then the Lightning won the next four in a row... awesome. :) And now my team and your team face off... eeek! LOL My only hope is that the Avalanche have been off for so long that they'll be rusty. heehee
DeleteCongratulations to The Lightning! You must be so excited. I just love George Micheal too, his music is so energizing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! It was pretty thrilling when they won Saturday's game!
DeleteI just saw a gas station yesterday that had $5.03 for regular - yikes! Summer is my least favorite season, too, not looking forward to the hot temps.
ReplyDeleteAngela - Wow, so it's actually topped $5 in your are. Not good!
DeleteGas has gone up here $.50 in just one week. It was insane! Also after all the flooding rain we had it's now going to be 95*F every day and we've got heat warnings in place for feel like temps of 105-110*F. So I feel you with the heat!
ReplyDeleteCarrie - Wow, 50 cents in one week is insane. Makes you wonder where it will stop. That's a killer heat index... be careful!
DeleteCongrats to the Lightning!!! Also I am going to read all your posts now! I was simply exhausted this week and didn't blog hop! Here gas is more than 8 USD for a gallon Tanya, just saying....
ReplyDeleteSophie - I understand being too busy/exhausted to blog hop. Happens to me frequently!
DeleteCongrats to the lightning! I have a friend in Tampa who is also over the moon about it. Gas is just over $5.00 here so I am just not going anywhere!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Samantha! I think the gas prices will have that same impact on a lot of us!
DeleteYay for the Lightening. I'm worried more about the temp being around 100 this week than gas going up. We have the lowest prices on average around the world here. Also I drive electric 99% of the time. I hope this week is a more comfortable pace for you.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Anne - Wow, that's some serious heat coming your way this week. Time to stay indoors. I don't tolerate heat well and it's so easy to get over-heated.
DeleteCongrats to the Lightning! I miss the days when my team was good lol.
ReplyDeleteI love Florida but I'd melt down there in summer ha ha. It's perfect though in, like, February when it's snowpocalypse up here. :)
That wTF is hilarious!
Greg - Uh-oh, who is your team? Now I'm curious. :)
DeleteYeah, Florida summers are no joke. And they're long - like April to October!
The Red Wings! Ah glory days :)
DeleteLOL Greg... maybe next season!
DeleteIt's been super hot here too. Our AC is working over time. The difference is we have dry heat. I feel bad that you also have to deal with the humidity. You probably don't even notice, though. I hope Tampa won last night.
ReplyDeleteJenni - Oh believe me, I notice the humidity. LOL I'm a lifelong Floridian but even so, I loathe the heat and summer is my least favorite season. I just dash from one air conditioned spot to another all summer. :)
DeleteI love all Meghan Quinn books, I read her latest this past week! It's getting really hot here, so I feel it! I'm glad that I'm off for summer break with the gas prices, although I've got a trip the second week of July that I'm not looking forward to those fill ups on the drive. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteLisa Loves Literature
Lisa - Meghan Quinn is such a go-to author for me. I always know I'm in for a good time when I pick up one by her. Oh boy, filling up on a road trip is going to hurt.
DeletePetrol prices are ridiculous here too! It's just... Not good. Our home energy prices are rocketing too as well as food prices etc. It's crazy. :( The one plus for summer here is that we mostly run the house off of our solar panels from May - Sept so that should help a little!
ReplyDeleteI met Meghan Quinn and Sarina Bowen at RARE Edinburgh! (It finally happened after the 2 year delay!) I wish I could say they were lovely but they were mostly coolly polite and obviously frazzled after a hectic days signing. (I met them both towards the end of the their signing days because of queues...) Ah well. I don't blame them! lol
Nicci - With prices on virtually everything going up. it makes me wonder about how bad it will get. :( How fun to finally get to RARE! Too bad you caught both Sarina and Meghan at the end. I imagine by then they were exhausted (same as everyone else).
DeleteI loved reading all your posts this week! I'm glad you had such a great reading week and that your team won! Also, love me some old school George Michael!
ReplyDeleteGas prices here are already above $5.00. I think it was $5.29 for regular last week. Diesel is over $6.00. Crazy. Groceries are just as insane. I wish I could get a second booster. I feel like everyone I know is getting covid and it's just a matter of time. If my family can make it through this last week of school for my daughter without getting it, I will be amazed. We get daily notifications that someone at her school has it now.
Thanks Deanna! Oh wow, so gas is already over $5 where you are. Ugh. I know it's coming here. So are you not eligible for a second booster? I think a lot of places are giving them regardless of eligibility. I used the pharmacy at a nearby store and I think they were allowing anyone who wanted one to get boosted. I mean, it can only benefit us all, right? Hope y'all can get thru the rest of the school year healthy!!
DeleteCongratulations on your teams win. That's exciting. And it looks like you've got some great reads this week.
ReplyDeleteGas prices has been going up and up here as well. It's crazy!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thanks Maureen! It was super exciting to see them win. And the final round starts tomorrow night so I'll be glued to the TV again. LOL
DeleteCongrats to your team! I hope this week won't drag at work. That's no fun! It looks like you got a lot of great reading done, though!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison! This week should fly by. I worked from home on Monday and I'm off on Friday for my nephew's wedding. So only three days in the office! :)
DeleteA shortened work week and a family celebration. Enjoy!!
DeleteCongrats on your team's win. That's so exciting! Gas prices hit $5.00 a gallon here too and my first comment was that I was glad to still be working from home. I don't mind summer but I have to say that the older I get, the shorter I wish the season was, haha.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - That's great that you're still working from home... especially with gas now $5 a gallon! Ack!
DeleteWe're at $5.49. My grocery store does points towards gas so I usually end up getting a $1 a gallon off so that's at your high.
ReplyDeleteWe're way below normal with our temps still. Everyone is calling it Junuary lol
Karen @For What It's Worth
Well thank goodness for the discount. That helps make it a little better.
DeleteLOL @ Junuary. Wish it was like that here! We're having record-setting temps this week. Yesterday was 97. Ugh.
