It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
T H E W E E K I N R E V I E W
I shouldn't have complained about last week being so hot. Because Florida said, "Hold my beer" and kicked it into high gear. By Thursday of this week it hit 102 degrees (39C). I know this is Florida, but it's actually pretty rare that we hit triple digits (at least here in northeast FL). This coming week should be better (I cringe as I say this) with temps "only" around 90 all week. At this point, 90 sounds like a freaking cold front.
In Stanley Cup news, the Tampa Lightning won Game 5 Friday, and that was on Avalanche turf, in Denver. Very exciting game! Game 6 is tonight back home in Tampa. They really need to win tonight in order to stay in contention for the Stanley Cup. Go Bolts!
If you've known me any length of time, you know I'm not a TV watcher. During hockey season I watch the Tampa Lightning games, but otherwise, I don't follow any shows, and rarely watch TV at all. That is, until I heard all the raves for Heartstopper. I watched the trailer and within minutes I had signed up for Netflix. LOL I've watched the first five episodes and... gah! Charlie and Nick - I just can't with those two! They are too precious for words and the casting could not be more perfect. Such an excellent adaptation from the books.
The news this week (in the U.S.) seemed to go from grim to downright depressing. So I'm lightening my mood with some pure pop goodness, courtesy of Debbie Gibson. Enjoy some Shake Your Love (1987).

HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?
I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT!
Good luck Lightning! I hope they take it all. And that is hot! It's been hot here too but not like that. Hope your weekend is nice.
ReplyDeleteOh wow debbie Gibson!
Greg: Well, it ended for the Lightning last night. Just couldn't quite get there this year. :(
DeleteI saw that. :( And the ESPN documentary on the Red Wings/ Avs rivalry from 20 years ago (I mean, it's till there but not like THEN) came out and was all over Twitterdom.
DeleteOh boy, way to stir things up!
DeleteRight???
DeleteI am so happy you fell in love with Nick and Charlie too now!!!! I will do a rewatch soon because they are just so good for my mood! Also good luck to the Lightning Tampa and hugs for what your Supreme Court has just voted!
ReplyDeleteSophie: I've already binged all 8 episodes and I'm ready to watch them again. LOL One of the best adaptations I've ever seen!
DeleteI loved the book Heartstopper, and I definitely need to get to the show. And 39C is where we are currently at in Dubai. And I am hating it too. I hope you have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteGayathri @ Elgee Writes
Gayathri: I hope you're able to watch Heartstopper soon. It's one of the best adaptations I've ever seen! :)
DeleteI am not a hot weather person, so that sounds like torture to me! It is in the 90s here this weekend and I am basically just sitting in front of the air conditioner.
ReplyDeleteAngela: I am not a hot weather person either (says the native Floridian LOL). I can relate to just soaking up the cold air!
DeleteIt's way too hot!! I tried to read outside yesterday, and I just couldn't handle it.
ReplyDeleteJennifer: Oh yeah, way too hot to read outside. Only inside with the AC. And a ceiling fan. :)
DeleteI loved Reason to Believe. We're in the low 90's but are supposed to reach triple digits at the beginning of the week.
ReplyDeleteAlicia: That's so great to hear! Now I'm even more excited to start reading it.
DeleteWe are cheering on Tampa Bay in my house! I am hoping that my pool gets just a few degrees warmer but maybe the humidity could just go away. I think that we definitely need something to lighten the mood right now. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCarole: Our cheering didn't help, I guess. But Tampa played an excellent game last night and was so close to winning the Cup again. Hope the pool warms up a bit for you this week!
DeleteWe recently had some 100 degree weather and it suckedddd. I still haven't watched heartstopper yet!
ReplyDeleteAmber: I hope you get to watch Heartstopper soon! It's precious overload. :)
DeleteBest of Luck to the Lightning!
ReplyDeleteBonnie: Thanks. Unfortunately the got bested last night and the Avalanche won the Cup. They had a stellar season, though!
DeleteI always complain when it's hot here in the UK. It has been cooler this week, but still...
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched a lot of TV recently. I spend my evenings reading. I have a few Blog Tours coming up so I need to get things read!
Have a great week ahead!
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
My post:

Emily: I'd always rather read than watch TV, but sometimes knowing I have to get something read for a blog tour... all of a sudden I put off reading it. Ha.
DeleteLoved Caressed by Ice and Under Locke! How nice you were gifted books on your wish list!
ReplyDeleteIt's been hot here too, but I don't think as bad as it is down south from where we moved. Not as bad as where you are for sure! Especially with the humidity there. Stay cool, Tanya!
Rachel: Under Locke was so good, but I love The Wall of Winnipeg and Me just a bit more. :) I've been slow getting into Caressed by Ice but hopefully I will have more time to read this week.
DeleteOoh Heartstopper looks really good. I watched half the preview and as soon as I find time, I'm in LOL! Also lol Bubble Wrap factory... yeah I don't have the ability for sure!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Berls: I hope you get a chance to watch Heartstopper soon! It is such an excellent adaptation from the books!
Deleteoh yay a hockey fan!! I am not a TV watcher either but glad you found a show to enjoy. I would love to live in Florida if it wasn't for the humidity and heat haha I hope you are enjoying your current reads, I loved both of them!
ReplyDeleteRenee: Yeah, I would love it without the heat and humidity, too! LOL Hope you have a great week! :)
DeleteThat is hot for north Florida, but if it makes you feel any better, it's an oppressive 94 in NJ. There is a claim that the humidity is only 33% but it feels higher. Here's to better temps later in the week. Good luck to your team, and I cackled when I saw you signed up for Netflix to watch a program. Glad it was a winner for you.
ReplyDeleteSam: Yeah, my weather app showed 30% humidity the other day and I was like, yeah I don't think so. It felt like I was swimming through air it was so muggy. I know... me with Netflix. How crazy is that? LOL But I just had to see Heartstopper and I'm so glad I did. :)
DeleteHa ha! I love what you said about 90 feeling like a freaking cold front. That's how I feel about the temps where I am. We routinely get over 100°F in Utah during the summer and the heat is so oppressive. The only thing we have going for us is that we live in a dry climate so we don't have humidity added on to the high temps. I know you have to deal with humidity and I'm sorry you do. :(
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Jenni: I had no idea it got so hot in Utah! You may not have the humidity I have, but 100 degrees is still crazy hot. LOL
DeleteOooh, I really want to watch Heartstopper but I'm such a stickler and want to read the graphic novel first. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteKat - Oh, I hope you watch Heartstopper soon! I totally get wanting to read the books first. At least they're quick reads. :)
DeleteI'll be rooting for your Tampa Bay Lightning tonight! I hope you get some relief from the heat soon, and it actually feels cooler for you .
ReplyDeleteWendy - Thanks! It's only in the high 80's this week and I'll take it! Better 88 than 100, right? :)
DeleteI am not a hot weather fan either. You're reading Judd in the Psy-Changeling series. Awww. Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Anne: Yes, I'm on Judd's book. It's been a bit slow-going (I'm only 40 pages in, but hopefully I'll have more time to read this week. I can't wait to Judd thaw a bit. :)
Delete102 degrees? Ugh! Though we have hit some pretty high temperatures for June here in Virginia, too. It's the humidity that really makes it bad in the Southeastern states.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the bubble-wrap factory photo. It's the best laugh I have had all day, and I needed it.
Lark - So true. The humidity truly makes the heat unbearable. Glad you got a laugh from the bubble wrap pic. :)
Deletei have been binging on lucifer and lovin every minute of it. yeah, glad it cooled down a bit today
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Sherry: It's fun to find a series you enjoy so much.
DeleteI'm having 80s flashbacks with that music video. Hope it cools off.
ReplyDeleteKimberly: My musical taste is still firmly rooted in the 80's. :)
DeleteAfter all of the heat, we were surprised with thunderstorms and hail today. I wasn't thrilled about the hail slamming into my roof, but I will take the slightly cooler weather it has brought!
ReplyDeleteEthan: Yikes on the hail but thank goodness for the rain and cooler temps!
DeleteI really loved the first two Heartstopper books; but I need to re-read them. It's been awhile! I also need to watch the show because it sounds so adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteLauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
Lauren: I was so taken with the Heartstopper books and the series is so, so good!
DeleteI actually just picked up the first Heartstopper book because the Netflix rave reviews have had me so curious. I still remember all the words to that Debbie Gibson song. My sister was obsessed with her so that album was on repeat for half my teenage years, lol.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne: I'm not one for graphic novels but something about Heartstopper appealed to me. I've inhaled each book. :) And the series... gah! So precious. Too funny about your sister's obsession with Debbie Gibson back in the day. To this day, when I hear the song Oh Sheila (remember that one?) I think of my younger sister. She played it CONSTANTLY. On repeat. I still give her grief about it. LOL
DeleteIt sounds like you're having the same weather as us. We were between 101 and 103 all last week, and now we're hovering around 90. I never thought 90 could feel like a cool front. I'm so over these triple digits.
ReplyDeleteI need to read/watch Heartbreakers! Glad you're enjoying it.
Alison: Yes! Enough with the triple digits, right? I don't even want to go outside. Ugh. I hope you'll love Heartstopper (book and series) when you get to it!
DeleteI'm going to be singing Shake Your Love in my head all day. That used to be one of my favorite songs as a kid. Haha. I hear you on the weather. I guess I shouldn't complain because we only hit the 90s and are now back to the 70s, but too hot! I can't wait for you to read Reason to Believe!
ReplyDeleteDeanna: You're welcome for the earworm. lol I'm so excited for Reason to Believe. I plan to read it in July.
DeleteYay, Heartstopper! It really is such a perfect adaptation, isn't it? Hope temperatures will go down a bit soon, that sounds way too hot!
ReplyDeleteLindsey: Heartstopper was so, so good! I'm sure I'll watch it again and again. :)
DeleteYay! I'm so happy you watched Heartstopper. I think it's the feel good show we all need right now. I'm going to do a rewatch.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
Karen: Yes! Nothing but good feels (well, except for the awful Ben and Harry). I plan on doing another binge-watch this weekend. :)
DeleteThe heat and humidity is no joke. We've been in the triple digits for a few weeks here in Texas, but we also had a bit of "cold" front here this week. We're all giddy over our high of 93! Haha! I just finished the Heartstopper adaptation and it was SO good! Absolutely adorable. And I was a huge Debbie Gibson fan in my early teens. Love that song!
ReplyDeleteDedra: Right? How crazy is it that we get excited when it's 93? lol I'm so glad you loved Heartstopper, too! I couldn't get over how perfect the casting was.
DeleteI love that you're hitting the Mariana Zapata books! :)
ReplyDeleteHeartstopper is everywhere at the moment! I haven't read the book, webtoon, or watched the show but I've added it to the watch list so I'll get to it at some point! It looks adorable.
Did your hockey team survive? Or are they out of the running?
Nicci!!! Oh my goodness, it's good to hear from you!
DeleteI'm currently on my third by Mariana Zapata. And kicking myself for waiting so long! :)
Heartstopper is an absolute joy - both books and show. I swear, each episode was like a hug to my heart.
My hockey team made it to the very end but finally lost in game six of seven. So close! But it was a great season. :)
