The Sunday Post #72

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

The only news here this week is Hurricane Irma.
Everyone here has been consumed with news reports, forecasts, planning and preparing. For those who don't know, I live in Florida, which is where Hurricane Irma is taking aim next. The latest forecast puts my area slightly more out of range than we were, but we still anticipate feeling the effects Sunday and into Monday.

We had plans to evacuate about 80 miles to the north, but the hotel where we had reservations called to say that they are evacuating, so... our reservation was cancelled. Oops. Between that and the fact that Irma's path shifted to the west, we decided to stay home. Believe me, if I thought we were in real danger we would leave without a second thought. But I'm not in a flood zone, I'm not under mandatory evacuation orders, and by the time it makes its way to the northern part of the state (where I am) it should have significantly weakened, so we should be okay.

    1. Thanks Grace.
I'm enjoying Bossman. It's interesting how Chases's past is told in bits and pieces.

    1. Thanks Samantha. It was quite the experience- worse than Hurricane Matthew last year for sure. I hope your friends in Tampa fared okay and are safe!

  3. I was totally thinking of you, and I am glad that you won't experience a direct hit. I hope you and your family make out ok. Nineteen Letters does sound like it will yield many tears. I want to read the Tracy Wolff book, as I enjoyed the Extreme Risk books, and this premise sounds great. Stay safe!

    1. Thanks Sam. We did okay. Lost power for about 18 hours, no phone/tv/internet for 2 days very minimal damage at home... but that's nothing compared to so many. The flooding here in Jacksonville is terrible and some don't even have power back yet. And all this was without a direct hit. Yikes!

  4. Oh, that's a bummer about your hotel reservation but I'm glad that it looks like you won't be hit all that hard when it gets to you. It should be hitting my grandma and grandpa soon, so hopefully it won't be too bad!

  5. Stay safe, we have family in Broward and Seminole Counties as well an in Punta Gorda. I just saw video of someone on Facebook driving around and it made me mad. My nephews are first responders and I wish people would just stay inside. They put more than their own lives at risk.

    1. Thanks Kimba. We did okay - power is back along with tv/internet now. I certainly hope your family is okay and didn't suffer too much damage. It's maddening to watch some people take unnecessary risks and put themselves in harms way. And then expect others to risk their lives to save them.

    1. Thanks so much, Jennifer. This was definitely worse than Hurricane Matthew last year but we are okay.Power is back on and we had minimal damage. So many were not so lucky, though. It's heartbreaking. I hope you did not suffer any damage from Harvey. I know it's going to take a long time for some to recover.
