The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
- Hurricane Irma aftermath is in full effect. Thankfully, we made it through with no real damage. We lost power for about 18 hours. TV, phone and internet were out for 2-3 days. Overall, we were very, very lucky and we are very thankful. Unfortunately others were severely impacted as there was historic flooding in my city. A lot of loss of homes and property. It's heartbreaking to see .
- Thanks to everyone who commented and/or messaged me last week. It was much appreciated.
- Got less reading done than you would imagine since my parents were at my house for the duration of the storm.
- It was only a three day work week (I was at home Monday and Tuesday due to the storm) so that made for a seriously busy three days at the office. I came home so tired every night.
- Met my sister for lunch yesterday and had such a great time. We sat there for over 3 hours and just talked. Can't remember the last time we did that. 😊

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
You know I want to hear about it! :)
Oh my god I'm so glad you're okay! Are you currently living in Florida? Or Miami? Irma is actually said to be one of the biggest hurricanes in a long time.
ReplyDeleteYep, I live in Florida. Not in Miami but in the northeast part of the state. The winds weren't as damaging here but we've had terrible flooding. Irma was definitely no fun!
DeleteI'm so glad that you and your family made it out of Hurricane Irma alright!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
Thanks Ronyell.
DeleteI am glad to here you and your family are safe. Have a good week
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI am happy you had your power restored so quickly. I never realized how much I loved electricity and internet until it was gone for 8 days due to Sandy. And like, showering every day is my personal luxury too. Dear Bridget caught my attention. It sounds like it may be a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam. Ugh, no power for 8 days. That's horrible. And quite a hardship. I so beyond thankful that our power company was able to restore ours so quickly. I;m so excited for Dear Bridget. I actually have another post going up tomorrow for the release day blitz.
DeleteI am happy you are safe. I hope the weather calms down now and that the damage around you wasn't too bad. It must be so stressful, I can't even imagine. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteThanks Olivia! There is a lot of damage across the city but thankfully my home wasn't affected. My fingers are crossed that the rest of hurricane season is uneventful!
DeleteI'm glad you are all okay! The before/after pic is crazy!!!! Seeing all the islands in the Caribbean that were demolished has been mind boggling!
ReplyDeleteI am really curious about Dear Bridget! It sounds good!
Thanks Samantha! Oh my gosh, those small islands in the Atlantic were just pummeled. Barbudo looks like it's been decimated. It's horrific to see.
DeleteI'm excited about Dear Bridget, too! I have another post going up tomorrow for release day and it just makes me want to read it even more. :)
So glad you are okay....I have seen earthquake damage in these parts, but no hurricanes. I think the water would scare me more.
ReplyDeleteYou sound calm and it's good that you have family around.
Have a much better week...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Thanks Laurel-Rain. Thankfully my home is not in one of the city's flood zones so flooding wasn't a real concern for me. I was more concerned with wind damage. I'm definitely feeling very thankful this week!
DeleteGlad you are ok and Irma didn't get you too bad. That before and after is crazy though! Happy reading and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. Yeah, there are a lot of before and after photos like that but this one from the park really shows how bad the flooding is.
DeleteI'm glad you are OK; that must be a huge relief. But I'm sad that there's been so much damage and loss of life throughout Florida and the Caribbean. The magnitude of Irma, both in strength and size, was really frightening. I hope the storms currently brewing in the Atlantic will stay out to sea and not hurt anyone.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, and best of luck to your town and state as the recovery stage continues.
Thanks so much, Lark. (Beautiful name, btw!) It really is horrific to see the aftermath in south Florida and down in the Caribbean. Makes me wonder if some of those smaller areas (like Barbudo) will ever recover.
DeleteThank you! It's my blogging nickname, actually, but I like it so I use it other places online as well. :-)
DeleteI know what you mean. I'm not sure some of them will recover for decades. And I fear Puerto Rico and the other islands hit by or in the path of Maria will be in similar straits.
I'm glad you are fine. That photo you showed us looks positively shocking :0 let's hope next week is a lot more laid back!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I hope so, too!
DeleteSo glad that you're ok! That picture is amazing yet sad at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Aleen. The pics and video from around the city are pretty devastating.
DeleteGlad all is well with you. We have friends impacted by Harvey and it's just heartbreaking. I know the clean-up and rebuilding will take time, but hope it happens fast.
ReplyDeleteJen Ryland
Thanks Jen. Thankfully we were spared the worst of it but I know a lot of residents it's going to be a long haul.
DeleteGlad to hear that you and your family came through the storm ok! I'm sure it's going to create some stressful times ahead though, as your city recovers. Hang in there :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Berls! Seeing all the damage in my own city makes me feel so very thankful that my own home wasn't damaged. It's heartbreaking to see others who have lost so much.
DeleteOmg that flooding, I'm so happy that your fam is doing well though Tanya! I'm also happy you got to sneak in some family time in the midst of all of this craziness!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber. Luckily, life has pretty much returned to normal for me. I know many others are still dealing with the damage so I am so very thankful!
DeleteI'm so glad that you didn't get too much damage or bad side effects from Irma! It's scary stuff.
ReplyDeleteOoh I love We Now Return to Regular Life. Can't wait to see your review.

Thanks Lauren!
DeleteWe Now Return to Regular Life was So. Good. I think my review will post this coming week.
Wow, that flooding is insane... :( I'm glad it was relatively no big deal for you guys, although losing power is still a bit of a pain. And yay for long, enjoyable conversations over lunch!
ReplyDeleteSooo thankful that my neighborhood didn't flood!
DeleteI wish my sisters and I had more opportunities to take those long, leisurely lunches.
Oh gosh Tanya! I didn't even realise you were in the path! I'm so glad you and yours were okay and that everything was relatively okay. What a scare.
ReplyDeleteI've been having a crazy busy month so I've been a bad blogger, but I'm catching up slowly and getting back around to everyone. I'm glad that you are well and looking forward to a catch up in your week tomorrow.
Thanks Di!
DeleteOnce you get behind it is *so hard* to get caught up again! Good luck with that!
