The Sunday Post #86

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • This past week wrapped up possibly the busiest week at the office all year and all I can say is - I'm so glad it's over! :) There's about a three week period between Thanksgiving and Christmas where there is just so much going on work-wise and it's always a stressful time. It feels like everything else in my life takes a back seat during this time (hence the lack of posts lately) and I always feel like a weight has been lifted when it's all over. I'm hopeful that I can now just enjoy this last week leading up to Christmas!

  • Speaking of Christmas, is anyone else marveling at the fact that it's just a week away? How did that happen?!

  • We had a little blast of winter weather last week but now temps are climbing back up to 80 degrees. Noooo! My fingers are crossed that it's short-lived and that by this time next week we'll be back to cooler temps. Here in Florida there are just as many Christmases with the A/C running as there are with the heat on. *sigh* Anyone up North want to adopt me so I can experience a real white Christmas? LOL

  4. We had a blast of winter too. Snow twice and daytime temps in the low 30s. You know my bus was late that day too, and by the time he came, I could not feel my face. I am happy it is Christmas time though, because my child is home for two weeks. All she does is work, but at least we can work, side by side, in companionable silence together. I loved Sweet Little Lies, well, I love all that is Shalvis. I hope you adore it.

    1. Daytime temps in the 30's? Ack! I think my Floridian constitution would go into shock. LOL Actually, it would probably be fun for a short time... then I'd start craving our milder temps. So happy for you that your daughter is home. Is she your one and only? :) I've never read anything by Shalvis so it was a surprise from my Secret Santa. I might give it a try - or pass it on to my mom.

  5. I do like a white Christmas, even a cold one, but the slick roads dampen the enthusiasm a bit. And I have to admit 80's doesn't sound too bad right now. :) Hope you have a relaxing week- and yes, it blows my mind we're only a week away from Cgristmas. As usual this month has flown by!

Hope the reading slump passes, I've had the same problem for a few weeks. I started the Hunger games and that seems to be helping. Love the Winter is (maybe) Coming graphic by the way!!!

    1. As pretty as a white Christmas looks, I definitely wouldn't want to drive in it. That would make me super nervous. Hope you'll continue to enjoy the Hunger Games books!

  6. Ooo glad the stressful work stuff is behind you. This month is on warped speed. Heck the whole year seemed to fly by. I hope 2018 brings us all joy. We are freezing here. Have a good week. Hopefully by this time next Sunday we'll be ready for Xmas.

  10. Growing up in Florida I remember the hot Christmas' and they were normal to us. Strange now that I love in Tennessee though. We are forecasted for some snow around Christmas. I'll gladly give it to you, I'm not really ready to be snowed in again. Especially with my two teenage bickering kids. Lol... The Secret Santa box is pretty amazing!!! Have a fantastic week. 😊

    1. Oh yeah, there are easily more warm(ish) Christmases than cold ones. Add in a house full of people and we're cranking the A/C. But, um, I don't envy you the bickering kids. LOL

  11. If someone would like to adopt me too, preferable where it snows, I'm all in, at least for a few weeks. :D

I'm glad the stress is behind you. This time next week it's Christmas Eve, a week later we already rang in 2018 - it's pretty crazy how fast everything goes.

Let's enjoy our last two weeks of 2017 with lots of reading and Christmas cheer. :D

Have an awesome week and happy reading!!!

  13. I love your Secret Santa gifts, I always tell myself that I'm going to do it then promptly forget!

It's warm by me too, like 50 degrees when it should be 20 and snowing!

I'm also really sad that Christmas is almost here, my favorite is usually the build up to Christmas. NYE is just bleh.

    1. Ha, same here! I'd been meaning to join that secret Santa thing for the past 3 years... and *finally* acted in time to get signed up for it.

I'm with you on NYE... such a non-event for me.
