The Sunday Post #162

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • For those that celebrate the 4th of July, I hope you had a happy and safe holiday.
  • To have been a short work week (I only worked Monday-Wednesday) I got shockingly little accomplished. I had such big plans: get caught up on blog hopping/commenting (I have well over 100 notifications in my inbox), blog posts, read. And... virtually none of it was done. Laziness called and I answered. #noregrets (well, okay, maybe a few regrets... alright, alright, I'm riddled with regrets over wasted time)
  • The Great Master Bedroom Makeover of 2019 continues. On Tuesday the painter came and I *love* the result. (I went for a soft gray.) On Saturday we ordered a new dresser and bedside tables. And we found some new artwork for the walls. It's coming along!
  • I camped out in my library on Thursday and did a massive weed-out/unhaul. I must have pulled at least 40 books from my shelves. A local used bookstore accepted some of them (I made a staggering $27 LOL) and the rest will be given away/donated. I'd been holding on to so many books that I wasn't ever going to read.
  • I'll leave you with one of my favorite remakes... and if you're into 80's movies you'll remember it from the end of Some Kind of Wonderful. :)

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Fumbled was wonderful and I loved Poppy and T.K.'s story. I love how Alexa writes these strong female leads who are nobody's fool. They have no issue speaking up and standing up for themselves - and the ones they love. It's awesome! And the audio version of Getting Played was just what I wanted. Dean and Lainey were a perfect match and watching as Dean went from total player to totally lovesick... swoon alert! :) Plus, Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber are narration gold.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I'm about 40% into Raze and enjoying it so much. Felix is the absolute sweetest guy. A little shy and a little vulnerable but still willing to be brave and put himself out there. Huey/Dane is just as vulnerable but has spent the last decade building walls while maintaining his sobriety. I'm living for the moments when he shows his softer side - and his fears - with Felix. And I keep thinking: why have I never read anything by Roan Parrish before??

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
This week was all about weeding out... not adding more.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

    1. Well, I meant my home library... not the public library... so it's easy to camp out when it's just down the hall. LOL I spent an entire afternoon in there, sorting my books, shelving new ones, reorganizing. It was fabulous. :)

  4. Hope you've had a great 4th weekend! Glad to hear the room makeover is going well. It's nice to see things come together.

I did a recent unloading of books I was never going to read, and it was so liberating haha!

Can you believe I've never seen Some Kind Wonderful? I know... :)

    1. Yes! It's felt so good to unhaul all those books. It's like, I felt guilty for not reading them but I had long since lost interest. Better they go to someone else.

Greg! Go forth now and watch Some Kind of Wonderful! It's 80's gold!! :)

  5. I am happy to hear your "sanctuary" makeover is going well. Can't wait to see the final product. I LOVED Some Kind of Wonderful. Such a classic. The Playbook series has been very, very good to me, and I am really excited about the next book.

    1. Some Kind of Wonderful is my favorite out of all the 80's teen movies. Love it! My sister showed it to my 11 year old niece recently and now she's hooked on it, too. She's been raised on the 80's classics. LOL And I'm so excited for Blitzed!

    1. Well, my library is a room in my house (not the public library) so it makes it easy to hang out in there. :)

  8. Yay for getting some weeding done. And I always appreciate getting some money back when I sell off books. It's something, right?! I'm glad you are loving Raze. I need to start that ASAP- I loved the first two in the "series."

    1. I enjoyed Raze so much! I definitely want to go back and read the previous two books. Especially Theo and Caleb's story! :)

  9. I'll have to check out Raze. I haven't read anything by her in awhile.

I was pretty lazy over the holiday too. I didn't do anything reading/blog related except for a blog tour post I had to do.

  12. I had three days off and planned on doing pretty much nothing but relaxing. Mission accomplished. LOL And I need to clean my book shelves and make a trip to the used book store. The only problem is I'll find some new ones to bring home. LOL

    1. Sometimes doing nothing is just what you need. :) And I don't think either of us will have trouble finding new books to fill up our shelves. LOL

  13. Glad to hear your bedroom makeover is going well. I love it whenever we redo rooms in our home. Impressive that you were able to weed out so many books. Now you have room on your shelves to buy more! LOL!

  14. I need to purge some of my books too. Congrats on getting that done! Now you have room for more lol

  15. I am too much of a hoarder to cull my books, I’m sure my family wishes I would though.
I’m embarrassed to admit our bedroom furniture still consists of bedside drawers from my husbands childhood bedroom and a the bed we first bought together 25 years ago.

    Have a great reading week

    1. I love having my bookshelves full of books but some I knew I was just never going to read. Or had read them and didn't feel attached to it and was okay letting it go. It felt great to free up some room (for more books, of course LOL). You definitely get plenty of use from your furniture! :)

  16. I really need to do a massive unhaul. I have books on my shelves that I know I won't ever read. I just have a hard time getting rid of something I haven't read yet in the hopes it may be my favorite book of all time. I am good about getting rid of books that I have already read and didn't care for. And PS it is totally okay to be lazy some days!! =) I hope you have a great week!!

    1. I know what you mean.. I wavered on several of them, thinking "but what if one day I get around to reading it and love it?" But I had to face facts that if it had set on my shelf for 2-3 years (or more) I just wasn't going to read it. So buh-bye. LOL

  17. I love that totally random!
Glad to hear the bedroom redecorating is going well.
I had a big weed out of books when we moved and it was so hard but really freeing so lots of luck! (And try not to spend that whopping $27 all at once...)

    1. There were some that I wavered on but I had to face facts that I was just never going to read them. And it felt good to clear them out! And yeah... what to do with my $27. The options are endless! LOL

  18. Oh to have had a short working week! But yay for clearing some books from the personal library and making a little cash too! And it's nice to let books go knowing they should make their way to a better home (we hope). I can't believe I still need to read Fumbled. I'm waiting for the price to drop so hopefully that will change soon.
