WWW Wednesday #92 | June 17, 2020

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

I actually just deleted the first paragraph I wrote, ranting about the upswing in positive COVID-19 cases here in Florida. And wondering where the strong leadership is that will put public health and safety above the economy. But I realized I'm just tired of talking about it. It's not political, it's just about doing the right thing. And I don't see a lot of that being done in my city and state. It's pretty disheartening.

So instead I'm going to take a minute to say that my husband is amazing. I mean, this is nothing new, I've known this for almost 30 years. :) But he had a pretty tough day Monday and he never once complained. He is so strong and so resilient and always more concerned with me (and others) than he is with himself. I am, as always, in awe of him.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Currently reading: I'm enjoying being back in Port Snow, Maine with the Knightly brothers. And while it's fun to get Reid's story, it's Eve who is really impressing me in this one. This is a lady who really has her act together and I love it. She's been dealt a tough hand but she didn't use that as an excuse to give up. Instead, she made the best of it, shifted her plan, and moved forward. I'm totally cheering for her!
Current progress: 212/335 pages

Currently listening: I just started listening to The Kingmaker this morning so I'm barely into it. I considered waiting until I finished That Secret Crush and reading my physical copy, but actually all six Kennedy Ryan books that I've read have been on audio and it's been a phenomenal way to experience them. So I decided to stick with what works. :) Plus, the female narrator, Jo Raylan, also voiced the main character in Ryan's Long Shot so I already know that I appreciate her performance.
Current progress: 6%

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
Read: While I didn't love The Clover Chapel quite as much as the first book in the companion series (The Coppersmith Farmhouse), this was still a good read. You had to be willing to go with the fact that these two characters made a near-instant connection 9 years ago during a wild night in Vegas and still carried a torch for each other. If you can just go with that, it worked. :)

Listened to: I had been eagerly awaiting the next installment in Corinne Michaels' Arrowood Brothers series. I liked getting Declan and Sydney's story and, as usual with Michaels, the story packed a surprising emotional punch at times (although I guess at this point it should no longer be a surprise LOL).

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

What I read next is totally up in the air... but all of these are ones I'm considering.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  2. I feel the exact same way you do about the whole COVID thing. I feel like as a nation we could have done a better job to snuff it out at the beginning. We've done a pretty decent job here in Western Washington, but the East side of the state has now become a hotbed of infection because it's not taken seriously. It's so frustrating! Sorry to rant! I hope that things are better for your husband today. At least you have some great reads going on!

    1. It really is frustrating. :( And pretty disappointing that the elected officials are allowing their own political agendas to get in the way of doing the right thing for their constituents. Why aren't people coming first? *sigh*

  4. Aww, I'm sorry your hubs had such a rough day, but I love how you deleted the negative and focused on something positive! It's just too easy to get down in the dumps these days with everything going on!

  5. I'm with you on everything COVID. It astounds me that more isn't being done about it, but here we are.

I'm really thankful to be able to escape into books and to have such a supportive boyfriend to lean on. A group of my friends has started a virtual book club, so that has been exciting. We are reading Dune right now, a first for me and way outside of what I'd normally read!

I hope you're enjoying Dune! The virtual book club sounds like a lot of fun!

I'm glad you're enjoying your current read. And I'm glad you got to the new Corinne Michaels one. I loved that one too.

I just finished reading 'Tempting Tim' by Melissa Ellen and I'll start reading 'Hooked On Her' by Stacey Lynn later today.. I hope. ;)

  7. It sounds like your husband is a wonderful guy and we need more strong resilient men like that in our lives. So happy for you that you have been blessed with such a wonderful mate :)

I didn't care for Kingmaker but everyone else I know Loved it, so I am sure you will enjoy it, just wasn't for me. I enjoyed The Lucky Heart too...and I hear KA Tucker is fabulous.

    1. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy The Kingmaker. But not every book is going to be for everybody. I run into that a lot with books that others seem to love and I just don't get.

  9. Your message to your husband is so sweet. I understand how frustrated you must feel with the lack of leadership and the increase in COVID cases. :/
I hope you love The Kingmaker as much as I did! I'm so excited to read your thoughts. And I say you should pick up Love Lettering next! ;)

  12. Your hubby sounds pretty great and so do both of the books you're reading. I'm working my way through The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet at the moment and also plan to start my ARC of Party of Two tonight since I need to review that for next week.

  13. I know what you mean, can be pretty disheartening at times. I went out yesterday to get a few things and almost no one was wearing masks. I was like really people? Is it THAT hard? SMH. Anyway... glad your husband was able to make the most of a bad day. Hope your rest of the week is good. And that things don't get too hairy down there.

    1. Yeah, I definitely see more people without masks than with. I just don't get it.

  14. I get why you deleted the first paragraph, it feels like all we do is talk about Covid-19 and how we miss normal life and our general frustrations. Your husband sounds like a gem, glad you've got him around at least, and I'm sure you find you do more for him than you realise being there for him too. I still haven't read The Kingmaker despite having it on my Kindle for forever, I hope you enjoy it.

    1. It really gets redundant, doesn't it? I decided I was over it (for that week, at least) so I decided to just move on. :)

The Husband is definitely a gem. :)

  15. Curious what you think of The Kingmaker. I adored a few of her books but this one was a miss for me.

I write this long ranty post the other day put it in draft (good idea Karen!) and deleted it because yeah...I was complaining every week and nothing changes.

Your comments about your husband make me smile. I've obviously never met him but he definitely sounds like one of the best ones. :)
