The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
The Husband and I went out last Monday night to grab some curbside pick-up for dinner and I realized it was the first time I left the house in nine days. I got ready like I was going to be center stage at Madison Square Gardens. Never mind that I never even got out of the car. :)
I came across this video a couple days ago and it made me smile. This kid in the middle is killing it!
I've been totally slaying the exercise/activity thing. (Note: In this case, slaying only means that I've actually been getting exercise. Not that I have a shred of strength or endurance. LOL) I fire up a YouTube video every morning around 6 AM and go to it. I haven't missed a day in two weeks. And a big thanks to Nick who recommended Team Body Project. I'm loving their videos and instructors.
I'm taking part in the August of Books Giveaway so if you haven't entered yet you can do that HERE. Last week to enter! You could win a book of your choice and who wouldn't want that?
This week's 80's music fix is Say It Again (1988) by Jermaine Stewart. Love the song but I still haven't figured out what the girl is wearing. Two leotards over bike shorts? I don't remember that being a thing. :)
It's funny the things we do now to go get takeout, right? And yes it is so weird just the little things we used to take for granted, like eating out! Gah I miss it!! Although I think my local Chinese takeout joint loves me...
ReplyDeleteI love that video!! that kid in the middle has a future lol.
Have a great weekend :)
I can't imagine when I'll feel comfortable eating in a restaurant again, but when I do it will be a long time before I take it for granted.
DeleteSame. I still can't bring myself to eat in anywhere...
DeleteI don't remember that song at all. Always fun to look back out at 80's fashion right.
ReplyDeleteSad but true, but I actually miss 80's fashion. lol
DeleteYay for exercise! I've been running this week, thanks to my friend who asked if I would come with her.
ReplyDeleteNext Wednesday is when my handball practice starts for the new season. I'm so happy since we haven't played since March. I am scared though, because I have a shoulder injury. I'll just try to do the easy exercises, run a bit and try to throw with my other hand. But just being with my teammates and exercising again makes me happy!
I think actually running would do me right in. LOL But the cardio videos are something I can mostly keep up with. I hope your hand is healed enough to return to handball!
DeleteTanya, well done for getting up each morning and doing some exercise! Sadly my yoga and jogging has gone out the window a little as was busy decorating my bedroom and then got poorly! Hopefully be back on it next week! Take care, stay exercising and happy reading! 😃
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica! I read something recently (an Instagram post from a favorite author) about how she's felt like she's put her life on hold since all this started. And she had this realization that she can't keep doing that because who knows when this will end. It really resonated with me. Hence me deciding to get up and get moving. :)
DeleteYour totally random made me spit my water out. It's crazy because it's true. Good for you two weeks in a row. I had drag my butt out for my walk a few times this week. The funk is strong in these parts. I will have to check out Team Body Project for inclement weather days. I won't lie. I put on mascara when I go to the market. It's the most socialization I get these days.
ReplyDeleteI've become quite the fan of Team Body Project. (Who even am I? lol) I like how they stress going at your own pace and that it's about progress and not perfection.
DeleteLol at the "old" picture! It does already feel like that though doesn't it? Like the olden days when we could go out and be in public no problem. Sometimes I watch tv and have a moment where I am like "they are standing too close!" Then I remember. :(
ReplyDeleteI need to start with some sort of exercise something or other. I'm a slug these days.
Sometimes it does feel like the olden days, doesn't it! "Normal" seems like ages ago.
DeleteLOL, you are killing me this week - I can totally relate to getting dressed (up) to get in the car! It's the only time someone other than my husband might see me! And at the rate we're going in my state, we're not going to be eating in restaurants for awhile! Congrats on keeping up with the exercise routine - we had a string of really hot weather, and I just couldn't get motivated to do anything, even inside.
ReplyDeleteRight?! The thought of someone else (possibly) seeing me, or me seeing someone (even from the car) is exciting enough to pull it together. My how far we've come. LOL I can't even imagine going into a restaurant any more. Or how long it will be before that's something I'm comfortable doing.
DeleteSounds like you have a great streak and hope you continue with the exercise. And yay to staying put safe and dressing up when you can!
ReplyDeleteI have never been one to exercise so the fact that I have been sticking with it is motivating in itself. :)
DeleteCongrats on all the exercise. I have managed to get back to my normal diet for the most part, and that's about all I've accomplished in that area. But, that's progress I suppose. With the craziness at the grocery stores I had to make due with what we could find for a while.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Alison, the earlier days were just make-what-you-could-find and it wasn't always the healthiest options. It felt good to get back on track.
DeleteI understand you dressing to the nine just to go get food LOL I ventureed in some boutiue this week to buy a dress! Oh the feeling of wearing something other than T shirt and jeans or shorts!!!! Have a great week Tanya!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the last time i wore "real" clothes! I wouldn't know how to act! LOL
DeleteI totally get the getting ready thing when you're going basically nowhere. I do my hair and dress nicer when I take my daughter to soccer practice -- which involves me sitting in the car the entire time. Makes me feel better, though! ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I was slaying exercise this week. Instead I'm wallowing in self-pity. We went hiking/walking on a trail a little over a week ago. I slipped and fell. It made the arthritis I have in my knee flare and my foot/knee/leg is swollen. Walking isn't even in the card for me for a bit. :( I might try it this week, though. We'll see. That's my sob story. LOL
Right? Sounds like you do the same. It's like, all of a sudden sitting in the car during soccer practice is worthy of pulling it together and looking your best. lol
DeleteYou deserve a little wallowing over that injury! Poor you. I hope you're able to get around a little better this week, Deanna.
Thanks! I am. Thanks. :)
DeleteI'm so impressed by your dedication to working out. I used to always work out in the AM before getting ready for work. But now, I have to be in the shower by 5 am, so I am NOT getting up early to exercise! Then, when I come home, I'm exhausted. Hopefully I can find a new routine for myself and get some exercise in.
ReplyDeleteAre you back at the office, Sam?? I haven't seen you mention it, but your comment about "when I come home" makes me wonder...
DeleteOh geez, just ignore me! I was thinking of the wrong Samantha when I read your comment. LOL
DeleteAmazing video - what fun! I like great music for exercise. It's great you are keeping to it in your schedule. I fell out of practice when moving and have to recreate a schedule for myself.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
In this case, working from home has been a real blessing because I have plenty of time to do 30 minutes of cardio in the morning, get ready, have breakfast, and still walk into the home office by 8 am. :)
DeleteI don't go out to eat too much, but when I do its such a precious blessing to me. The things we take for granted right? If anything this year has shown us how precious these moments are. Hope You are enjoying that Emma Scott book.
ReplyDeleteYep, it's hard to take small things for granted these days. And they don't feel like "small" things anymore, either!
DeleteThat’s great you’ve been getting in to exercise, I’ve been trying to walk more and I’m feeling a difference.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
I'm feeling a difference, too. My legs are killing me, my arms are killing me... LOL
DeleteOh yep, it was a thing! LOL you should try it during your am exercise
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
Lol at the picture from the olden days 😂!! I know, I find myself getting more dressed than anything for my weekly errand pickup (I go into target for a few items, but otherwise never get out of the car). It's crazy. Thanks for sharing that video, put a smile on my face to watch that little guy killing it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Right? The smallest things now feel "special" and I use that as an excuse to get dressed up (which, these days, means wearing actual pants LOL).
DeleteIsn't it funny how different our life looks now. I have a weekly ritual of dropping off my COVID test (work provides on every week) and picking up my curbside groceries. Congrats on sticking to the fitness plan! Strength will come with time!
ReplyDeleteWow, a test every week. And you're right... who could have predicted our lives would look like this? Working from home, grocery pick-ups, testing, distancing... strange how quickly it all seems normal.
DeleteThat's great you got out, even if you didn't leave the car. Sometimes I just need to be out of my house. LOL
ReplyDelete-Lauren
www.shootingstarsmag.net
Exactly, Lauren. I don't really need to interact with people or go in a store. But I do need to get the heck out of the house now and then. LOL
DeleteWe have such similar reading tastes! I can't wait to pick up The Girl in the Love Song. American Prince looks/sounds so good too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new exercise regimen! They say it takes 21 days to create a habit - so not too much longer for you. 😊 Keep us updated. Maybe your dedication will motivate me. I've become a couch potato since quarantine. lol
Have a great week! ♥
I am loving The Girl in the Long Song even though it's already breaking my heart. Then again, it's Emma Scott so what did I expect? :)
DeleteIt may be a habit soon but I don't think that will mean I love it. LOL And I'm definitely not always motivated. But I am dedicated, so that helps. :)
time is going soooo fast. glad you had a good week
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Hard to believe next week is September!
DeleteCongrats on getting back in the exercise groove! I've been walking a bit more which helps my overall mental health.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about dolling up. Whenever we prepare to go outside, I put on lipstick even though it's pointless.
Exactly. :) It's like, who am I even dressing up for anymore? But it makes me feel better so I do it.
DeleteWow, you hadn't gone out for nine days?! We usually don't plan ahead enough for meals to forgo the grocery store that long, but I guess we could do that if we did delivery instead.
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh. Remember when we went out to eat? That random has me very nostalgic, lol! :)
Well, my husband still goes out a couple times a week for his volunteer position. And he does the weekly shopping. I place Walmart pickup orders for in between. :)
DeleteWow, that sounds like me when we first started lockdown, I wouldn’t leave the house for over a week because we were told to stay home, but it definitely led to me feeling really lazy. I’m impressed at the exercise... I walk places every day? Honestly, I am terrible about getting any exercise but I balance it by trying not to eat all of the chocolate in the house.
ReplyDeleteI seem to go through phases where I'm fine at home for a long while, and then I want to get out for a bit (just drives and walks).
DeleteI'd say not eating all the chocolate is a total win. lol
What was it like eating inside mommy?? lol
ReplyDeleteI've been doing MadFit but I'll check out the one you mentioned. I've gone through a lot these past few months. I can only do low impact or I kill my knees or back.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
I'll have to check out MadFit. Same here on the low impact. Even then sometimes my knees scream in protest. lol
DeleteYay for getting in some consistent exercise time. I haven't progressed beyond my morning and evening walks with the dog but really need more in the way of cardio. I'm not familiar with Team Body Project so will have to check those out. The fashion in that 80's vid is interesting. I don't recall multiple leotards over shorts being a thing either, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Nick mentioned Team Body Project because I've really connected with their two instructors (esp. Daniel). That's a big thing for me because if I don't like the instructor I won't follow through.
DeleteGood job getting that exercise in Tanya. That's really impressive. I really should do more too.. but I just can't get myself to that point. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading.
It definitely doesn't come naturally to me. I think I am inherently lazy. LOL But I do try to force myself.
DeleteTwo weeks without missing an exercise session is awesome! And bonus points for doing it at 6am! I'm barely conscious at 6am and definitely not in a position to do anything more than yawn and complain about being awake for at least another hour...
ReplyDeleteThe 6 am thing isn't all that difficult for me because I've always been a morning person. But if you ask me to do anything after 9 pm... that's another story. LOL
DeleteI had a pretty good workout routine going until COVID! The kids being home 24/7 - - and Jacob being home more often during the week - - has made it infinitely harder for me to find time for myself. It's great that you've found something you like! That makes it easier to stick with it. :) Go you!
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? 💬
I took a couple days off (Fri-Sun) but I was back at it this morning. I can't say I ever really enjoy it (ha!) but I'm always glad after I've finished. :)
DeleteI'm absolutely feeling you Tanya, I haven't left our property for over five weeks now, we're in our second lock down. Awesome work on the new exercise routine, I might look into that as well. Being at home, even being active, I'm putting on weight and my body feels miserable at the moment. I hope you're having a fabulous week so far darling and taking care of yourself ♥
ReplyDeleteI feel like so many of our habits have fallen by the wayside since this all started. It's hard to stick with normal routines when nothing feels normal anymore!
DeleteI had put on a little eye shadow the other day and my daughter asked if I had a videochat meeting for work. Yeah, she called it. LOL So, I understand.
ReplyDeleteYay for getting back into exercising! I have been so bad--worse than bad--about that. I really need to at least go for a walk now and then. My daughter doesn't like to do P.E. for school, but it is required even though she's doing virtual learning right now. She has this Just Dance game on Nintendo Switch, and I told her I'd do it with her. It's motivated her to get up and move--and me too. She has her Zoom dance classes too, but the studio is on a break right now.
I hope you enjoy your current reads and the rest of the week. I can't believe it's September. It took so long to get here and yet it feels too soon for it. Take care!
I guess anything can count as activity, right? As long as we're moving. We were at the pool on Friday and I did walking laps back and forth in the pool. The resistance made it quite the workout! I counted it as water aerobics even though I was having fun. :)
DeleteIt is weird going out right. Yay for slaying the exercise routine. I was doing well until the fall..now getting out of bed is a workout. Happy reading my friend!
ReplyDeleteI've never been a fan of exercise so the trick is finding something that I'll stick with. So far, so good. :)
DeleteI almost wish that I could stay in my house for 9 days in a row. I think that I went to some kind of hardware store every day in the month of August. Blah. I haven't ever thought to try to work out with videos online. I am glad you found something that is working for you! I hope you are having a great September so far!
ReplyDeleteWith all you had going on over the summer you didn't have a shot at any real down time. I hope that changes soon!
