The Sunday Post #349 | September 10, 2023

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

It seemed to be a busier than normal week, hence the single post I managed this week. Labor Day was good, with an outing to one of my favorite lunch spots (Chicken Salad Chick) with my mom, one of my sisters, and The Husband.

The Husband was out of town on Wednesday to attend a shooting competition (target shooting) and came in first place! He shot three targets and had *perfect scores* on two of them. So excited for him. 😊

I had a yearly check-up on Thursday and as much as I get worked up and overly-anxious at medical appointments, this one went so well. I loved my provider (a nurse practitioner). She was kind, listened, asked questions, was patient, and I never felt rushed. Got positive feedback on my recent lab work, and scheduled a few specialty appointments. All good stuff. The Husband and I went out for a late lunch afterward and my lunch may look and sound basic, but sometimes the simple things are the best things. Turkey, bacon and cheddar on rye. And the fact that it came with tater tots put it right over the top. So yum. 😋

Feeling rather mellow today so in keeping with the vibe, this week's throwback song is Oh No (1981) by The Commodores. Enjoy!

  5. Oh wow congratulations to your husband! Mine has problems shooting now with his new glasses so he tried with a laser (?) and that was way better!

    1. Sophie - I don't think my husband has a laser on the one he competes with. But he has something called a scope and I guess that helps. I know very little about it! lol

  8. The simple recipes done right are usually the most delicious. The sandwich combo is one of my favorites, too, though I usually do it on sourdough bread and broil open faced so the cheese gets a melty. Yum! Sounds like you had a wonderful Labor Day and how exciting for your husband!

Hope you enjoy Coming Home! It was a sweet romance and I still just love that cover!

    That random is so true!

  11. I love a basic lunch and that sandwich looks delicious!!! And I love tater tots. And DANG IT I just realized I still have some creamy tomato basil soup in the fridge from MY basic lunch last week! Oh please still be good, soup! I promise to eat you today!!!!

I forget where I first heard of Chicken Salad Chick but I've wished I had one near me ever since. I'm imagining all different varieties of chicken salads to choose from. Curry, tarragon, basic, with dried cranberries...

That's awesome that your husband got first place!

Well, you know about all my annoying health care drama lol but I've loved each and every PA I've ever had. They're been better than most Dr's. I'm glad your visit went well.

  15. I'm happy to read that everything went well with your checkup. My husband is out of town this week too. He's got a big announcement at work tomorrow, so he flew our to corporate to be there for it.

In my mind, there's nothing better than a simple turkey sandwich. It hits the spot everytime!
