Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Books of 2023

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This Week's Top Ten Tuesday Topic:
Favorite Books of 2023

Since I just posted my yearly wrap-up on Saturday, it was easy to pull this list together
today. :) While my reading in November and December took a hit (I read much less at
the end of the year), overall it was a great year of reading with some real stand-outs.

Wolfsong - TJ Klune
Fourth Wing - Rebecca Yarros
Lotus - Jennifer Hartmann
Pucking Around - Emily Rath
The Stars Are on Our Side - Jennifer Hartmann
Grace Note - J. Bengtsson
The Lovely Return - Carian Cole
None of This is True - Lisa Jewell
Still Beating - Jennifer Hartmann

What was your favorite book of the year?

  6. I've heard such great things about the Rebecca Yarros series. I'm glad to see it on your favorites list. I hope you have a great 2024! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

PS. What app or website do you use to make your book cover collages? The one I used to use doesn't exist anymore and I'm struggling to find on that doesn't cut off the covers. Thanks in advance.

    1. Jenni - I'm not really a fantasy reader, but Fourth Wing was pretty awesome!

I use Canva for the book collages. I use the free version (although there is a premium/pay version) and it's fairly easy to use. :)

  7. As you know I loved Fourth Wing too. I don't think I could read Still Beating. It sounds too intense for me, but I am curious. Great list, Tanya!

    1. Rachel - As much as I loved Still Beating, I will say that it's not for the faint of heart. It was dark and was hard to read at times.

  12. Happy new year, Tanya! I picked up Wolfsong after reading your review of it last year. It and The Fourth Wing are on my list too. Pucking Around looks interesting and it's available on KU. I might just give it a shot!

  13. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE has been on a bunch of lists this week. I really need to check it out. I bought a copy of FOURTH WING because of FOMO, but I'm still not sure it's going to be my kind of thing. We'll see, I guess. Glad you enjoyed it and all these others.

    Happy TTT!

    1. Susan - I was unsure about Fourth Wing, too. I'm not a fantasy reader. But I am a fan of Rebecca Yarros and I knew I loved her story telling so I gave it a try. I'm so glad I did! Her brand of fantasy felt totally accessible for a non-fantasy reader like me and I was so invested. Hope you'll enjoy it if you decide to try it!

  14. Fourth Wing was probably one of the most popular titles and seemed to make it onto everyone's lists of top 2023 reads! I *loved* Wolfsong as well and need to finish that series. I hope your year of reading in 2024 will be amazing, Tanya! 😍

  24. Everyone seems to have loved Fourth Wing in 2023 and I'm still waiting to get to it. Hyped books always have me hesitant in case the hype is stronger than the book. I think 2024 will be the year I give in and read. I have Wolfsong on my TBR. I've enjoyed so many other books from TJ Klune so I know it will be good but I'm almost saving it for a day when I really need a good book to enjoy.

  25. I finally bought Fourth Wing because everyone is obsessed with it, so... one of these days heh. The Stars are on Our Side looks interesting, and I really like the cover! I see it is connected to some of the other books you have loved, so I need to give them a try, I thinK!
