The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
- Winter continues to be a fickle thing in my area. This past week warmed up to the 60's and even into the 70's some days. But as of today we're back to the cooler temps. One day this week is not supposed to even get out of the 40's. Warm to some of you but that's a cold day to a Floridian! :). How is it in your area?
- I'll be parked in front of the TV come this afternoon, something you'll rarely hear me say. Our Jacksonville Jaguars are still in the play-offs! I'm not a huge sports fan but I do enjoy football and our Jaguars have been killing it this season. I'll be cheering them on as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers today.
- The Dreaded Reading Slump of 2017 seems to be mostly gone. I'm hesitant to say it's completely over, but I actually feel like reading most days which is quite an improvement! I finished Say You'll Remember Me which I loved (no surprise, it's Katie McGarry) and Wonder (which had me questioning why in the world I hadn't read it before now) and yesterday my library hold on The Cruel Prince was ready so I picked that up. Hoping I love it as much as everyone else seems to!
- Speaking of McGarry's Say You'll Remember Me, she had a playlist at the end of the book, which is something she does a lot. One of the songs was George Michael's Praying for Time. I absolutely loved seeing that because it's one of my favorites - and it doesn't seem to be as well known as many of his other songs. It's pretty somber and seems sadly relevant these days, as much as it was 28 years ago.

This teapot!
It makes me want to drink tea all day, every day.
I love it.
How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!
I felt the same way when I finally read Wonder. Just an incredible book. Did your version have the Julian Chapter? That one brought me to tears as well. I slept with my windows open Friday night, but the cold front moved in and I felt the temperature drop over 20 degrees in 2 hours. It's all good, because I bought a fabulous down coat with knit collar yesterday. Hope the Jags win one for you.
ReplyDeleteNo, my version didn't have the Julian chapter! I need to chec my library for that. It sounds worth reading. Now I really want to see the movie. Have you seen it? The new coat sounds fabulous! And so warm. And the Jags did win! Yay!
DeleteI meant to congratulate you on the win. It's always fun when your team makes the post season. I have not seen the film for Wonder. I always fall asleep in the theatre, so I just wait for the movies to come on cable. You need to read the Julian Chapter. I am getting all verklempt just thinking about it. It's really short and worth the read.
DeleteThanks Sam! It was an exciting game. And even more exciting to think we are are one win away from the Superbowl (considering we haven't even made the playoff's in 10 years!). And you'll be happy to know that I've put The Julian Chapter on hold on Overdrive. :)
DeleteYeah we warmed up and now it is cold again. Boo to the cold!! We are excited for football too even though it is none of our teams. Love the playoffs. I still need to read Wonder. I should get on that. Love that teapot!!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty exciting here because the Jags have not made the playoffs in 10 years. It was a dark decade. LOL But they won yesterday (woo hoo!) so next week they take on the Patriots. Ugh.
DeleteWonder was so very good. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to read it!
YAAAS for The Cruel Prince! I finished the book last week and absolutely loved it! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

My Sunday Post
My Review of The Cruel Prince
I'm so excited to hear that! I very rarely read fantasy but this one really appealed to me. I look forward to reading your review once I've finished the book!
DeleteWe did have a dose of warmer weather here, didn't stay long. Snow and ice everywhere now. 😕 Enjoy your week ahead and happy reading.
ReplyDeleteI sooo want that tea pot!
I think I'll take my cooler temps over your snow and ice. LOL
DeleteAnd that teapot! I would fill it with hot chocolate. :)
Good luck to the Jags! And glad the slump is mostly gone. I had a little mini- slump too and it was annoying. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of getting the Cruel Prince. I've been wanting to try Holly Black for a while, and I've seen some good reviews. I hope you're enjoying it.
Stay warm!!
Thanks Greg! The Jags did beat the Steelers so that was pretty exciting. :)
DeleteI so rarely read fantasy but I read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Black a few years ago and really enjoyed it so that tipped the scales for The Cruel Prince. So far I'm enjoying it.
The weather has been wonky here too. 60 degrees on Thursday, then it snowed on Friday! Nuts!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you have a great week and your team wins!
Oh my gosh, that is crazy weather! Ours isn't quite that extreme. :)
DeleteHope you have a great week, too!
Our weather went from snow to 70 to back down cold again tomorrow. Glad we got our flu shot this year!
ReplyDeleteI see you love to read romance books, so if I'm in the mood for one I know to check your reviews for a good one :) McGarry's new one sounds cute and love that cover!
Wow, you've had some extreme weather changes!
DeleteRomance is definitely my genre of choice - whether it's adult, new adult or YA. I don't often stray from it but once in a while I grab something different (like I'm reading a YA fantasy right now). Thanks so much for stopping by, Kari! :)
Yikes! I hate it when the dreaded reading slump hits! Hope you have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
Thanks Ronyell.
DeleteThe weather has been absolutely exhausting, and good luck to the Jaguars. I know nothing about American football but GET THE POINTS.
ReplyDeleteI hope you love The Cruel Prince!
LOL The Jags did GET THE POINTS, Amber! And they move on in the playoffs. Yay!
DeleteI'm barely into The Cruel Prince but definitely enjoying it so far!
It’s snowing here, so 40 sounds warm. I love that teapot! I don’t drink tea, but I want it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I can't help but laugh at 40 sounding warm. Everyone here reacts to cold weather like we're living on the frozen tundra. Ha!
DeleteI rarely drink hot tea at home, but I still want that teapot. Heehee. :)
I don't drink tea, but I'd totally get that teapot just for decoration. LOL I'm glad that your reading slump seems to have mostly disappeared. That's wonderful!

I rarely drink tea at home, Lauren, but maybe I would if I had that teapot. LOL
DeleteThis weather has been horrible - warm and cold and ... just make up your mind, weather! Hoping I love the Katie McGarry book - I was taking a break from her books until she switched from all the cars and motorcycles. And lol on the George Michael. I am a HUGE fan back from the 80s and glad he's becoming popular again!
ReplyDeleteJen Ryland Reviews
I'm pretty much sold on whatever Katie McGarry writes. Even the motorcycle club series. :) Wasn't George Michael the greatest? I remember seeing him in concert around 1988 or so and it was so much fun. I was so sad to hear when he died. :( Still love his music.
DeleteThe weather has been mostly grey over here. It's England. Rain, darkness and grey. I take cold and I take snow and everything if only it wouldn't be so depressingly grey. It's never even bright anymore. I'm hugging my SAD lamp. I hope your slump is over!
ReplyDeleteI'm considered quite the oddball among my family and friends because I love a grey, rainy, gloomy day. Bonus points if it's cold. Of course, I get those so rarely here in Florida that it's a novelty. I imagine if it happened all the time I'd grow weary of it fast.
DeleteSame thing goes for my 2016-2017 reading slump! I think I've completely gotten over mine... So glad we're both making progress on that end! <3 AND THAT TEAPOT IS TOO CUTE!
ReplyDelete- Aimee @ Aimee, Always
Wow, sounds like your reading slump lasted even longer than mine did! So miserable! Hopefully we'll both have an awesome reading year. We deserve it! :)
DeleteI got my daughter Wonder and we're reading it together. Like you, I'm wondering what took me so long!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
That's so great that you are reading it together, Nicole! I swear, it should be required reading for school kids. Great lesson in compassion and kindness.
DeleteCongrats to your Jaguars!
ReplyDeleteAs for our weather, it's been pretty cold here (today's high was ~39 at my house) but it's supposed to be a record high of 65 in Denver on Friday, so... Oh, and then snow on Saturday. Craziness!!
Wonder is a book my younger daughter asked me to read...and I still haven't. If it's that good, I'll make sure I get to it sooner than later. :) Hope you're having a great week, Tanya!
Thanks Brandee! We haven't made the playoffs in 10 years and now here we are one game away from the Superbowl. Crazy!
DeleteAnd speaking of crazy, everyone's weather seems to be all over the place. Super cold and then unseasonably war. I think Mother Nature is drunk. LOL
Wonder was absolutely precious. Amazing lessons in compassion and kindness. I definitely recommend it!
