The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
- We were keeping a close watch on Tropical Storm Humberto this week. Thankfully it's veered east and is headed off into the Atlantic. Buh-bye, Humberto. It could still be rainy today but no complaints here.
- I had such a disturbing dream last night that it woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep. Does that ever happen to you? It was about a family member and it really rattled me, no matter how many times I told myself it was just a dream.
- My mom leaves tomorrow for a bus tour to Nashville and I am so excited for her adventure. It's her first time traveling solo (well, she's with a senior tour group but still) and I'm crossing my fingers that she'll have a fantastic time.
- I have the SiriusXM 80's channel playing on the computer as I'm working on this post and they're playing "Total Eclipse of the Heart." The video didn't make a bit of sense (as with most video's from the 80's) but the song was a good one.

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK:
I actually found myself pulling for Cage in this one. Who would've thought? I haven't been bothering to review the Sea Breeze books here on the blog because there's really not much to say. But I share my random, snarky thoughts at GoodReads.
I had this one sitting on my Kindle since the day it released but kept putting other books ahead of it. Then I decided I was dying to read it... but a physical copy. So I ordered a copy (thank you, Amazon Prime!) and started it on Tuesday. Just as I knew... Sarina + Elle = Writing GOLD! I loved Keaton and Luke so much.
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
I have to admit, I struggled through the first half of this one. Heidi's reactions to anything even vaguely sexual were so over the top that it was ridiculous. When finding out that her new place of employment produced romance audiobooks she was appalled. She referred to them as p-o-r-n. (That's right, she couldn't even say the word porn... she had to spell it out.) She came across as a virginal, sexually repressed girl from the 1950's instead of an adult woman who, apparently, had some sexual experience. I'm about 90% done now and I will say that Heidi has definitely grown on me and there have been some laugh out loud moments. Overall, the humor is just too silly for my taste, but it's still a fun listen.

I've borrowed this in both ebook and audio versions so I can decide which format I want to go with.
How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!
I don't dream or at least I don't remember them, which is a good thing, I suppose, since your dreams are keeping you up at night. Hope you eventually got some rest. I liked Fix Her Up. The heroine was full of surprises and I adored her. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I dream a lot, but they're rarely disturbing. Thankfully. I'm excited for Fix Her Up. I decided to hold off just a bit and instead start The Burning Shadow. I was seriously itching to return to the Lux world. :)
DeleteAnother storm? Glad this one turned away from you though. I do know what you mean about waking from a nightmare that keeps you awake. You know it wasn't real but it freaks you out enough you don't want to go back to sleep in case you go back into the dream. Normally happens to me when I'm stressed (or I've watched a horror film).
ReplyDeleteThankfully I don't often have such disturbing dreams but that one sure stuck with me.
DeleteI didn't even know about Humberto. I see the wind will be from the north this week givig me 70s-80s, instead of 80s-90s YAY. I loved Heidi but I had all the MN connections. I also really enjoyed Fix Her Up on audio; I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I guess Humberto didn't get as much coverage since it wasn't going to make landfall. I'm so envious of your cooler temps! How lovely! I'm really looking forward to Fix Her Up. :)
DeleteOMG Tanya Total Eclipse of the Heart played when I was a teenager!!! So many memories. And about that dream yes it's happened but luckily once or twice!
ReplyDeleteThat song was everywhere the year it came out, wasn't it?! The radio stations played that one to death. I think she might have remained popular overseas, but here in the U.S. she only had 2-3 hits.
DeleteWhat is it with 80's songs lol? So many of them were weird (but fun. Always fun). :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your mom on her trip. And I hate dreams like that- they freak you out!
Love the graphic- so true!
The 80's had its fill of goofy songs and weird videos... but that was my decade and I loved it. (Still do.) :)
DeleteSO glad that the storm passed you by! I have dreams like that ALL. THE. TIME. And I am really over them. Sorry that yours freaked you out so much! That is so awesome for your mom, I hope she has a fantastic time!!
ReplyDeleteYikes, I'd hate to have disturbing dreams like that so frequently. I feel for you!
DeleteMom left for her trip this morning. I feel like a mom with a kid on travel and like I need to check in with her every hour. LOL
Some dreams are harder to shake than others.
ReplyDeleteTotal Eclipse is one of the songs you can’t resist singing along with (if you are a certain age at least)
Have a great reading week
LOL I agree. I guess we are both of that certain age. :)
DeleteI've had dreams like that, and I know what you mean. It can be really disturbing especially when it's about someone you love. Hard to shake the feelings, even when you know it didn't happen.
ReplyDeleteThe heroine of Heidi's Guide doesn't sound very realistic. Glad to hear she finally started to grow on you. Love your totally random! I feel that way everyday. :)
Yeah, the character of Heidi kind of strained my belief. Like, really? Are there women now who are so prissy that they cringe at "dirty books" and can't bring themselves to say certain words? It had me rolling my eyes a lot but thankfully she really grew on me and she started to loosen up. :)
DeleteNo 80's video made sense Tanya lol
ReplyDeleteyay! I'm glad you liked Top Secret too. it was more angsty than I normally like but I loved it.
And yes! I've had those dreams too. Super scary. Have you had ones where you get in a fight with your husband and wake up mad? I've had those too lol
Karen @ For What It's Worth
LOL Too true, Karen. :)
DeleteTop Secret pulled me right in. I was pulling so hard for Keaton and Luke.
Still laughing about your dream comment. Can't say that's ever happened to me. LOL
I feel like everyone I know has been having nightmares lately! I hope it was a one time thing! I hope you enjoy your new reads. I've heard amazing things about Fix Her Up!
ReplyDeleteI have high hopes for Fix Her Up! I keep seeing great reviews.
DeleteIt's been awhile since I've read any of Abbi Glines' books. I might have to check out that series.
ReplyDeleteI loved Abbi's Rosemary Beach series. The Sea Breeze series induces a lot of eye rolling on my part (LOL) but they are still fun reads.
DeleteI am glad that the hurricane took a turn away from you. I must say that I still love all of those silly 80's videos. You picked a great song to share :) I enjoyed Heidi's guide but I do agree that it was a little over the top at times. I hope you have a great week, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteI miss all those crazy 80's videos! They were so entertaining.
DeleteHeidi was a bit silly for my taste, but it was still a lot of fun. :)
I hope your mom has a wonderful time on her trip. It sounds like fun! Oh, I really loved that Bonnie Tyler song too. I agree about the video though. I remember watching it way back in the day and thinking "Okay, what?"
ReplyDeleteI thought that about a lot of videos in the 80's. LOL Most of them seemed to have very little to do with the song.
DeleteI hope your mom has a great time! And yay for loving Top Secret. That's one I really need to read ASAP.

I think you would love Top Secret, Lauren!
DeleteI often have horrible and unfortunately, very vivid dreams that wake me up with a thumping headache. My mother always warned me about having dairy before bed, I wonder if there's actually any truth to dairy causing nightmares. I can't wait to see what you think of Fix Her Up Tanya, I've heard such wonderful things!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that sounds terrible! I'm so sorry that happens to you often. :(
DeleteI'm really looking forward to Fix Her Up!
Lol, that cat is me! I used to (okay, still do sometimes) come home from work and shut everyone down whenever they tried to engage me in more than yes/no answers as I was so brain dead from talking and generally peopled out.
ReplyDeleteI've had some whacked dreams lately too... The worst was after the professor watched a freaky scifi show while I was reading and my brain obviously inhaled random details and decided to replay them in horrific, alien style, detail that woke me up terrified. Also, dreams of negative equity on my house, lol. I so rarely dream nowadays and that's what I get! :(
I hope your mum enjoys Nashville!
Oh yeah, I get it. Sometimes I'm so mentally drained after work that I just can't make polite chit chat in the evenings. Just need the down time.
DeleteDreaming of negative house equity... now that's some serious adulting going on right there. LOL When even your dreams deal with tedious adult problems! :)
