WWW Wednesday #69 | November 20, 2019

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

What a week it's been... and it's only Wednesday.
Monday was insanely busy at the office and by the time I got home I was wiped out. The Husband took us out to dinner since neither of us felt like cooking. Last night we had an after-work meeting to attend, grabbed some dinner after and got home around 8 PM. That made for a long day and, other than watching a few minutes of hockey and then reading maybe five pages of Blitzed, I was done. No plans tonight, though, so hopefully things will be smoother at work and it'll be an easy day. 🤞

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I'm only about 20% into Blitzed (neither Monday night nor Tuesday night lent themselves to reading) but I'm enjoying it. Maxwell seems like a sweetheart... other than the whole causing damage at the bar thing. The jury is still out on Brynn. She comes across a little immature at times but I feel like I'm still figuring her out.

At 4.5 hours into Grip I'm still waiting for something to happen between Bristol and Grip. I'm pretty annoyed with Bristol and the way she is letting her parent's messed up marriage and her mother's admonitions that Bristol is "just like her" completely rule her personal life. She's kept Grip at arms length for years and for what? I love how Grip doesn't deny his feelings but I'm starting to wonder how long he's going to keep banging his head against the same wall. Bristol needs to realize she is not her mother and Grip is not her father. Get with the program, girl!

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

Repeat was enjoyable and it was easy to pull for the main characters to find their way back to each other again. Nothing stellar but a solid read. Flow was a short-ish prequel to Grip and I liked getting the backstory between Grip and Bristol. Ryan did such a great job of making me feel their connection even during their short time together.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

Under the Who Even Am I? category, I have a Review Book of a Christmas Story that's part of a Blog Tour coming up. Say what? #1) I've virtually stopped requesting ARCs and my focus is on reading my own books (and reviewing only if I feel like I have something to say). #2) I never read holiday stories so why this one jumped out at me I have no idea. And #3), I haven't done a blog tour in probably a year or more. But, be that as it may, an email from Harlequin popped up with several Christmas/holiday-themed ARCs and I requested Coming Home for Christmas by RaeAnne Thayne. I've never read anything from her before but I guess I'll be changing that shortly. :)

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  1. How is it only Wednesday? I feel like this week has been crazy and seems like you've had that seem feeling. I'm actually excited to have a night in to unwind. I was tempted to turn my phone off to make sure I couldn't be disturbed. Sorry you've not had more time to read Blitzed, fingers crossed you can make a bit of a dent in your reading tonight. And how can you be 4.5 hours into an audiobook and still be waiting for something to happen between the MCs? That's frustrating.

    1. Right? This week seemed to last for ages. It's Friday now but it feels like it took three weeks to come around. LOL

Something FINALLY happened between the MC's in my book. At the 8.5 hour mark. Gah!

  3. Brynn has some baggage to work through, and I thought she did over the course of the book.

  6. It's never good when you've had a WEEK and it's only Wednesday lol Same here.

I've only read one book this month but I started Queen of Nothing last night and made to 1/2 way before bed so that's promising.

  8. I have a hard time with busy weeks like you are having. I need some quiet time in the evening to stay sane. I really need to try Alexa Martin someday. I sure do hope you like the Christmas book that you have for the blog tour.

  9. It's hard to read when you're tired from work and whatnot. I'm happy you enjoyed Repeat!

I've read and enjoyed RaeAnne Thayne. I didn't request this one (I have too many right now!) but maybe I'll do a library request in the future. Hope you enjoy the story! :)
