The Sunday Post #216

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • It's been brutally hot the last few days with more to come. It's supposed to be 98 today. The chances of finding me outside are slim to none.
  • My mom had a fall on Wednesday and ended up in the ER for several hours. After CT scan and X-rays it was determined that nothing was broken but she's still pretty banged up. A sprained ankle, a black eye, all kinds of scrapes and bruises. It could have been so, so much worse and I am so thankful she's okay. She's definitely taking it easy right now.
  • This week's 80's music fix is Would I Lie to You (1985) by Eurythmics. This was always one of my favorites by them.

  1. It is getting hotter by the minute here in Dubai too. We are trying to stay in anyway, so summer is not that bad in 2020. I hope you enjoy those lovely books and your mom gets better soon.

    1. So true, it's hot anyway so staying safely indoors is not exactly a hardship. :)

  2. I hate that your mom fell; I hope she bounces back soon.
Oh, I totally forgot to tell you that I received my copy of King FINALLY. It got lost in the mail for over a month and I was afraid that it was never coming. It looks beautiful on my bookshelf and I cannot wait to collect the others in the series. Thanks again! ♥

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear it took so long, but thank goodness it finally showed up.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Reading that really hit home for me, but oddly enough, my mother-in-law actually took a fall this past week too and broke her ankle. Hopefully they will both make speedy recoveries!

  4. I'm so glad your mother is ok! That is really scary.

We had a very hot week, too, with lots of rain, but hopefully we will get a little bit of a break the next couple days.

  5. What an accurate meme. Also, the heat and humidity are terrible! I've been in the habit of leaving my sandals just outside my door instead of inside and they were soaking wet just from the humidity when I went out this morning! A bit gross! Haha!
I hope your mother heals nice and quick! Stay safe and have a great week! :)

  6. Oh I am happy to know that your mom is not really badly hurt Tanya! And going to the hospital in this COVID madness must have been quite tricky! Now you last "meme" with the wooden stake and all made ma laugh so hard!!! Thank you I needed this.

    1. Yes, having to go to the hospital during COVID wasn't exactly ideal but necessary.

  7. It's getting stupidly hot here too. I hate it. I hope you're enjoying your read of Tyrant. I absolutely love TM Frazier! I hope your mom feels well soon and that she'll heal fast. Stay safe and happy reading.

  8. We've been in the 90s too, but I won't complain I feel so much better physically in the summer. I am sorry your mother fell but happy it isn't worse. So scary. Be safe and have a good week!

  9. Its pretty hot here too, we are in the three digits now. But it isn't bothering me that much, just makes me want to be outdoors more probably because I have been cooped up inside for so long, lots of hiking I am doing this week lol

So sorry to hear about your mom, hope she heals fast and smoothly.

I love the cover to "Kiss Me Tonight" the way he is holding her face *swoon*

Hope you have a great week love!!

  10. I'm glad the fall wasn't worse. That's no joke when they're older and fall.

I do not miss that heat! lol

    1. Exactly. A broken bone could be devastating at this age for her. She was very lucky.

  11. Sorry to hear about your mother's fall! I'm happy that at least she didn't break anything. Although, a sprained ankle isn't fun. It's been hot here, too, over a 100 degrees all this week and supposed to be 105 today. I hate it when it's this hot! I'm ready for Summer to be over and it's just begun.

    That random is so true!

    1. Right? I'm with you, Rachel. I'm already done with summer. LOL

  12. Its been in the 90's here and I am over it. I'm so sorry your mom fell! That is terrifying! My parents bruise so easy now it seems they always have at least a few on them. Scary! And that meme about leaving the house is SO TRUE. Also, making sure you have enough masks for your whole family since no one else remembers them.

    1. Yep, my mom always seems to have bruises now, too. It happens so easily.

  13. Oh no- I'm sorry to hear about your mom! Thank goodness it wasn't more serious, but ouch- sounds like a nasty fall. Hope she's feeling better soon. And I'm with you on the heat and I'm not even in Florida lol. We had some 90's days here and I was like next haha.

That leaving the house cracked me up.

Great pick this week! I always loved that video too. :)

    1. Thanks Greg. She fell on a driveway so it definitely could have been so much worse. She was so lucky.

  14. I'm glad your Mom didn't break anything. My Mom broke her hip about 1.5 years ago and hasn't been able to live at home since.

It's hot here so I'm carefully checking the weather to see which hot day will have the wind from the north so I can mow the lawn. It's mostly mid 90s this month. Luckily it's only about 4-6 weeks and then it's more reasonable.

Have a wonderful week and stay well!

    1. Oh no, that's terrible about your mom, Anne. That was my immediate fear with my mom's fall so I'm extra thankful that it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

  15. I'm sorry to hear about your mum but I'm glad that it wasn't more serious. Wishing her speedy healing.

I don't blame you for hiding indoors from the heat! That sounds like a hell sauna. :(

  16. Oh no! Your poor mom. Glad nothing was broken, but that's scary. It's summer. It's hot. It makes me unhappy, but at least I am not commuting to work in this, and I am in comfy clothes. Winning

    1. Yeah, it really was scary. And she's definitely a ll banged up (black eye, cut and scrapes and bruises) but it could have been so much worse.

  17. I'm so sorry about your mom! *hugs* Hopefully she'll heal quickly and be good as new!

We've been staying indoors because of the heat too. It's obnoxiously hot. The kids pool had a leak so we tossed it, and the stores are completely sold out of replacements. Bicycles, trampolines, camping equipment - - anything summery is sold out.

I read King ages ago and DNFd it. I didn't like the unnecessary profanity and rape, although it seems to be a really popular book.

    1. I can see where some people wouldn't like the content in King (it really is dark) but I was in the mood for dark so it worked for me. I'm actually on the third book in the series now.

I hope you're able to find another pool!

  18. Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your mom's fall, but glad she is on the mend already. It has been over 100 every day here, so I'm right there with you on the heat. This month is looking to be full of horror novels for me, not that I'm complaining!

  19. I'm so glad to hear your mom is okay. I'm sorry she had to fall and go to the ER, though. That's scary in these times. I hope you survive the heat. We've been in the 70's. That's about as hot as I like it these days.

    1. Yeah, the hospital is not where you want to be these days, for sure!
I'm jealous of those temps in the 70's!

  20. Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I'm glad it wasn't TOO serious, but that's still pretty banged up like you said! I'm glad she's home and doing okay though.
And yeah, that is way too hot. We've been getting some super hot weather too and it's not my friend.

  25. It's been hot and humid over here too! Nothing like the weather you're experiencing, but a week of 90s is torture, especially since I hate A/C!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, that's so scary!
