The Sunday Post #295 | July 17, 2022

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

I had a busy week at the office but it was productive so that's always a good feeling. Even
so, I was wiped out by the time Friday afternoon came around. There was a rather
impromptu family dinner at my house Friday evening so even though it was great to
spend time with everyone, I was also a little relieved when everyone went home and I
could collapse. :)

As I'm writing this on Saturday afternoon, we're having some serious thunderstorms move through. I'm loving it. I love a good storm and being at home on a lazy Saturday, while it's
pouring rain, is pretty much my idea of a perfect day.

Did anyone snag any major deals during Amazon Prime Days this week? I got a few
things but no big-ticket items. The packages have been trickling in over the past few
days so it's been like getting presents every day. Presents that I bought myself, but
whatever. :)

BookBub shared their 20 Must-Read Romances of the summer and one of my most
anticipated reads of the year is on there. Husband Material by Alexis Hall. I'm super
excited for the follow-up to Boyfriend Material. Have you already read any from their list?

This week's 80's music fix is Be Near Me (1985) by ABC. This was always my favorite
from the band. Enjoy!

  1. I looooove a summer day with a good rainstorm or some thunderstorm. I also love how it smells afterwards..

Yes, Amazon Prime Daaayy! I got myself a new Kindle. My old one was getting slow and kept restarting, it was 6 years old already so I told myself it was time to get a new one!

  2. 4.5 Stars for Kulti?! I haven't read that one yet! It's been on my kindle for years too... I really must get on it considering I love Zapata's books in general!

I haven't read any of the BookBub list yet but Love On The Brain is my number one "GIVE IT TO MEEEEEE" of the summer so I cant wait for that one! Also, Always Be My Duchess is on my list too. :)

    1. Nicci - I hope you can get to Kulti soon! I ended up loving it. I was unsure at first because Kulti was such a jerk (LOL) but I should have know to just be patient. Zapata did her magic. :)

  3. We had a storm come through yesterday too. Unfortunately, it didn't bring relief. --sigh-- What did you get with the Prime sales? Some people at work bought stuff. One guy go Airpods, and the woman I talk books with bought an Oasis.

    1. Sam - My Prime days sales stuff was so minor. A makeup organizer, a pair of shoes, some magnetic chip/bag clips, a new white noise machine. Just odds and ends. :) I heard there was an awesome deal of Airpods and a lot of people were snatching them up.

  4. I purposefully stayed away from Prime Day! :) We had more thunder than actual rain this week, and we really need the rain.

    1. Jennifer - Good for you... I probably should as well. LOL I hate when we get nothing but thunder and no rain. Such a tease.

  5. We need some rain around here, I'd love a good thunderstorm! I picked up some clothes for Henry during Prime Day, but that was it!

  6. I really enjoy the thunderstorms too, both because we need the rain and it smells so fresh afterward. As to the 20 books, I enjoyed The Bodyguard and have the eARC for Love on the Brain. I'm reading Knot Again right now. I'm excited to see you reading the Psy-Changeling books. I just finished #21 which is out in early August. So good! They are pretty much all romance in each book but satisfy my need for plot with the overall story arc. I bought more at Prime Day than expected. The bigger items were a new laptop for my daughter and a couple air purifiers. Everything won't be here for another week or so. I chose No Rush shipping because then I get $ I can use to buy Kindle books.

    1. Anne - It's crazy to me that the Psy-Changeling series is up to 21 books. Wow! I'm reading Clay and Talin's story right now and it definitely seems to have a darker tone than the previous books. Talin's past is just horrific. And Clay seems one step away from losing all humanity. I'm worried about these two! :)

  7. Oh my gosh I hate when I punish myself by getting gas in the morning. I want to go back in time and smack myself!

  8. Sometimes I am tired at the end of the day and it seems like a good idea to get gas in the morning but it is NEVER good. Ugh! Its rainy here today as well! I'm excited about it. Its been pretty dry!

    1. Samantha - Right? Stopping for gas in the morning is always a bad idea. But I never learn.

  9. I love a good thunderstorm! And we had a couple of them this week. We could use one today; it's hot and humid. Poor Mr. Bookwyrm is out there mowing the grass.

I didn't pay much attention to Prime Days this year. I have too much stuff already! But I'm glad you found some things you like. I did order one Nora Roberts hardcover on deep sale.

    1. Lark - Ugh, mowing the lawn when it's so hot and humid is miserable. I'm wondering if the Nora Roberts book you got was The Becoming? If so, I nabbed it, too! $10 for the hardcover was too good to pass up!

  10. I also love when it rains as long as it doesn't last days. If it does last for days, I start to feel a bit depressed. I've never heard this ABC song. I really enjoyed it, though. Thanks for sharing. I haven't read any of the books on that list, but so many of them are on my TBR. :D I hope you have a great week!

  12. Impromptu dinners are fun but it can be nice when they're over too. :) I had a graduation party to host on Friday and it was awesome- but also awesome when it was done!

    I love a good summery rainstorm. :)

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

  16. I hear on the exhausted thing. I wasn't at the end of last week, but my daughter had a soccer tournament this weekend and now I could take a nap. Our weather has been kind of mellow the last couple of days. I didn't get anything from Prime Days, but I don't know that I needed anything.
I'm glad to see you enjoyed Kulti. I already know your feelings on Crownover's book. ;) I hope you enjoy Love Lessons as much as I did.

    1. Deanna - Well, I probably didn't *need* anything from Prime Days either, but that didn't stop me. ;) I'm at about the 80% mark of Love Lessons and they're just returning home from the trip. One of them is going to have to man up and admit their feelings. Gah!

  18. Thunderstorms and pouring rain make for such great reading days. It stormed here this evening and curled up on the couch with a book. I didn't do a lot of shopping on the Prime Days but we did buy a little pool for our dog, so that will be fun for him. I hope you have a great week!

  19. My mom used to live abt 5 minutes from Daytona Beach, and she was always getting pop up storms. I'm super jealous and wish you could send some my way. We're starting to have fire concerns around here with the sustained temps over 100 and no rain.
So glad to see you enjoyed Kulti. Wasn't that the one you weren't enjoying at first?

Yes, you remembered that I wasn't loving Kulti at first! lol He was such a jerk. Ha! But Zapata did her magic and now I couldn't love him more.

  20. Love rain and thunderstorms! Perfect reading weather. I love having company/family over, but it is a relief when everyone goes home. I have family coming on Thursday and leaving on Sunday. We have a lot of fun scheduled.

So happy Kulti ended up working for you! Hope your week isn't too crazy.
