The Sunday Post #25

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

Happy weekend! It's amazing what one extra day off can do for you. Having a three day weekend last week because of Labor Day on Monday was such a treat. We didn't even do anything particularly special: had lunch at one of my favorite places, Noodles & Company, browsed at HomeGoods, and that was about it. But we had a great day and having a short week at the office wasn't too shabby, either. :)

I debuted my Freebie Friday feature last week and I was really happy with the response. The winner of the first giveaway was Eva from All Books Considered and her book is on the way to her. Be on the lookout for another Freebie Friday coming up this week!

Thursday, September 8: I went back a couple years for this week's That What He Said Thursday and shared a quote from Rainbow Rowell's Attachments. It's hard for me to pick a favorite from Rowell because I love both Attachments and Eleanor & Park a lot. So I'll say that Attachments is my favorite adult novel from Rowell and E&P is my favorite YA. :)

Friday, September 9: On Friday I shared two audio book reviews - one was a hit and one was a miss. Tell the Wolves I'm Home had me feeling all ragey about most of the characters. But The Crown's Game was an absolute gem. Me loving a fantasy book... who knew?

Finished
Tell the Wolves I'm Home - Carol Rifka Brunt
Blurred Lines - Lauren Layne

Current
It Ends With Us - Colleen Hoover

Brace yourselves... because there were *no* new additions this week.
No physical books, not a single Kindle book... nothing. What is this life?
This cannot be allowed to continue. Obviously.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
You know I want to hear about it! :)

  1. Ok so I loved Blurred Lines, it was my first Lauren Layne novel. And I've read everything that she has released since. I'm trying to read her blacklist titles. ANYWAYS, how are you feeling about It Ends With Us by CoHo? I thought it was really, really good, but I find myself having a hard time recommending it to others. Does that make since? It feels like I would just be saying..."Hi, You should read this book, it will gut you, but it's really good."

    1. Blurred Lines was so good! It was only my second by LL (I read Crushed about a year ago) but I'm sure I'll read more. I wouldn't call them 5 star, unforgettable reads, but they're great contemporary romances. I just love her dialogue and the banter. :) I'm about 200 pages into It Ends With Us. I'm reading this one slowly - just bits at a time. It's already hurting my heart. Because (without putting spoilers in the comments) it's already happened once. This one is going to do me in.

    1. I'm about 200 pages into It Ends With Us. I find myself reading this one very slowly. I adore CoHo but I have a feeling this one is going to pack even more of an emotional punch than her others.

    1. Yep, it's official. We took a poll, Kei. You're the only one. LOL Actually you could probably hurry and read it before I finish it... because I am reading this one so slowly. I'm savoring it... plus I'm nervous about what's to come. :(

  4. Sounds like you had a good week. I had a friend come down to visit and we went to the zoo. It was a pretty low-key week for me. :)

    1. You're so welcome... of course! And your book was mailed out yesterday. They said it should be received by the 19th or 20th. (I have a tracking # if needed.) I haven't written my review for Blurred Lines yet but I enjoyed it so much! I just loved Parker and Ben. Their friendship was everything and I loved their banter. :)

  6. *gasp* You had an extra long weekend and you STILL didn't one-click a single book?!? *haha* I was actually looking at Blurred Lines yesterday. I didn't one-click it...yet. Did you like it? I've been hearing good things about Layne, so... I hope this week has gone well. I can't believe we're in mid-September already! <3

    1. I know, right? No books! I made up for it this past week, though. :) Nothing crazy, but I just couldn't let TWO weeks pass with no new pretties! I really enjoyed Blurred Lines! It was my second by Lauren Layne and definitely won't be my last. I just love her characters and her dialogue and the humor. Her weekly newsletters are great and the 5 @ 5 videos she does with her husband on YouTube are so much fun. :)

    1. Isn't that place awesome! I just wish it was a little closer instead of halfway across the city. I've yet to have the mac and cheese (even tho I LOVE mac and cheese!). I've had the pesto cavatappi and the buttered noodles with grilled chicken. Sooo good! Would you believe I've never had potstickers?! What a sheltered like I've led... LOL
