Top Ten Tuesday: Contemporary Romance

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme
This week's theme is Top Ten ALL TIME favorite books from whatever genre you choose. Well, picking the genre was a no-brainer: contemporary romance is my jam. But picking my top ten of all time? Yeah, that proved slightly more difficult...

In no particular order:

Ugly Love - Colleen Hoover
The Summer I Found You - Jolene Perry
Some Kind of Perfect - Krista & Becca Ritchie
Him - Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy
One True Loves - Taylor Jenkins Reid
Easy - Tammara Webber
Wait For You - Jennifer L. Armentrout
Ten Tiny Breaths - K.A. Tucker
Leo - Mia Sheridan
On the Island - Tracey Garvis Graves
What's your favorite contemporary romance?
Or your favorite genre?

  1. YES YES YES re: Easy and On the Island! My favorite is probably The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand although I love Unleashing Mr. Darcy and the Escape to New Zealand series by Rosalind James, too!

    1. On the Island was one of those books that I absolutely could not stop thinking about. Months after I read it I was still thinking about Anna and T.J. I got to meet Tracey a couple years ago when she was touring for Covet and came to a local bookstore. Me and my sister was super early for the signing and we had a chance to just sit and chat with her about OTI before the signing started. I'm not familiar with Rosalind James... need to go look her up!

  2. Yay we have Him in common. I loved On the Island and One True Loves too. I have Ten Tiny Breaths and The Summer I Found You so I have to bump them up now!!! Great list!

    1. On the Island is such a favorite. I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I really need to read more by Tracey Garvis Graves. I love the whole Ten Tiny Breaths series but that first book is still my favorite.

  3. I've only read Him from this list and LOOOVED it so that counts for something. I did read Ugly Love, it was an ok read for me, I have a hard time connecting with CoHo characters tbh...

    1. Loved Him so much! I really need to read Us soon. Have you already read that one?

  4. This *might* come as a surprise, but I don't have a particular genre I'd call my favorite! I do tend to favor contemporary, but I'm not especially picky about it :)) Ugly Love and Wait For You have been on my TBR for quite some time now- looking forward to reading them!

    1. Ugly Love was the 2nd book I read from Colleen Hoover and while it's impossible for me to pick a favorite from her, Ugly Love is definitely right at the top. And Wait For You... oh my goodness, love that one! Once you read about Cam you'll forget every other book boyfriend. LOL

  5. Oh gosh, I don't know that I could keep my list to 10! I absolutely agree with you on Easy and Him. Loved, loved both of those. Colleen Hoover would make my list but I'm not sure which of her books I'd choose. I just read Four Seconds to Lose, which was my first KA Tucker, and I LOVED IT! And of course, I love JLA but have yet to read any of her contemporary stuff. I am a fan of contemporary romance, obviously. But I don't think I have a favorite genre...as Lexxie says, I'm a genre omnivore. ;)

    1. I know, Brandee! I actually gave up on picking my ten favorites (because IMPOSSIBLE!) and instead just picked ten that I loved. And I picked just one by Colleen Hoover to keep it from being a total CoHo fest. LOL I'm not sure any more which my favorite is by her but I just went with Ugly Love because back when I'd read 2-3 by her it was my fave. So, so glad you loved the K.A. Tucker book! Ten Tiny Breaths (the first book) it still my fave but Four Seconds to Lose is a close second. I just loved Cain!

  6. I really like Stephanie Perkins (are her Anna series considered contemporary romance? I'm really bad with genre labels LOL) I am definitely on board with Colleen Hoover after reading Confess (thanks again) so I can't wait to start another one of her books. I actually just bonded with a girl in one of my English classes this week at school. we had to talk about our favorite things/books and she brought It Ends With Us to class and I freaked out. I can tell we're going to be good friends already LOL. Most English majors at my school look down on the YA genre (so frustrating) so I was excited to see a peer who loves some of the books as me. She's a Sarah Maas fan as well!

    1. Also I haven't read any of these books on your list, so I am severely slacking in the contemporary romance department!

    2. As much as I love YA contemporary, I think only one YA made it onto my list - The Summer I Found You. And I would probably consider it upper YA (one character is 17 and one is 19). I *really* need to read the Anna series! I just know I will love it. Don't you just love bonding with people over books?! It's like, instant connection. I just recently finished It Ends With Us and I can see why she considers it a favorite. I'm still reeling from it and haven't even contemplated a review yet. And the whole looking down on YA thing... ugh. Get over it already.

  7. GAH how have I read NONE of these?! Such a fail. I do want to read quite a few of these though- definitely One True Loves and Ten Tiny Breaths! Okay, my favorite contemporary romances should be easy, because I either love them or...not ;) I'll Meet You There, Emmy & Oliver, Truest, Everything Everything... I think those all kind of fit in that niche. And The Serpent King isn't like, romance-romance, but there is some romance and is one of my all time favorites? Same with Rites of Passage! As for my favorite genre? I don't know! I have a soft spot for dystopian/post-apocalyptic, but I really do read a huge variety I think! Love your list!!

    1. None? Not even one? Ack! I am rethinking our entire relationship, Shannon. LOL Seriously though, there are just too many books and too little time. It's a cliche for a reason. Ten Tiny Breaths... loved it (obvs). The whole companion series is good but TTB is still my favorite. One True Loves - YES! It will without a doubt be among my favorites of 2016. And it introduced me to a new favorite author. I came so close to adding I'll Meet You There. So. Close. But I wasn't sure I really considered it a romance (I mean, I know there's romance) and I wavered so long that I finally just left it off. Similar with Emmy & Oliver. There's romance there but... I truly loved that one, though. The two of them were so, so precious.

  8. Great titles on here - I need to read more of them. The only one I've read so far is Him and I LOVED that one. I also really loved the sequel too.
