The Sunday Post #112

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

I haven't done a Sunday Post since mid-June and it feels good to be getting back to my regular schedule.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone who left such kind and supportive messages on the post about my father last week. Every single one was much appreciated. Thank you.

Have y'all seen the YA Title Generator? Epic Reads came up with it (as a promo for The Loneliest Girl in the Universe) and the results are so funny. Apparently my YA adventure title would be: The Friendliest Pirate in the Mansion. Sounds like some bizarre children's book. LOL What's your title?

WHAT I FINISHED IN THE LAST WEEK:

The Impossibility of Us - Katy Upperman
Katy's second novel was even better than her first. I loved this story of total acceptance and sticking to what you believe in the face of obstacles.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
The Simple Wild - K.A. Tucker
I'm only about 15% in to this one but already enjoying it. Tucker has an amazing way of making me feel an emotional connection to her stories from the very start.

PHYSICAL BOOKS:
Roomies - Christina Lauren

KINDLE BOOKS:
The Smallest Part - Amy Harmon

eARCS FOR REVIEW:
Everything Under the Sun - Jessica Redmerski

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. SQUEEEE! I am starting The Impossibility of Us probably later today. So, I for one, am glad to hear it was great. I have had a good run on books this weekend, and want to keep the streak alive. The generator did well. I do think you would be the friendliest pirate though. =)

    1. Can't wait to see what you think, Sam! I'm part of the blog tour so my review won't post until the 30th I think. But it will be filled with mush gushing. :) Tanya the Friendly Pirate. LOL

  5. Everything Under the Sun...hmm, the book looks very familiar...

Don't worry about not posting weekly recap for a period of time! I stopped posting it for literally months because I was so busy.

The Swooniest Unicorn Sea. I'll see if one day a weirder name than this would come up in my life.

    1. I don’t *think* so but I’m not positive. I think it’s more a girl hiding her feelings for the man she loves because her best friend also loves him. But I’m not sure beyond that. All I know is it’s Amy Harmon and that means she’ll make me cry and I’ll love it. LOL

  8. K.A. Tucker is one of those authors who I always meant to read way back when New Adult burst onto the scenes but I just never got around to doing it and now I'm a bit, meh.
I am still curious but I bet by the time I'm able to loosen my purse strings again it'll have fallen off my radar once more. :/

    1. I first discovered K.A. Tucker through a new adult novel (Ten Tiny Breaths) and have enjoyed several of those as well as adult romance and mystery. I just love her style of story telling.

    1. The Classiest Corgi... LOL Good one.
I’m really enjoying The Simple Wild. It’s very much relationship/character focused instead of plot-driven and I’m loving it.

    1. Haha! I can actually imagine that being some off the wall cartoon - with the scrappy chicken fighting off bad guys in the drugstore. LOL

I’m looking forward to Everything Under the Sun. Seems unlike anything else she has written.

  16. The Tackiest Wizard in the Kingdom... I feel like it's insulting me... ;)

I've been looking for new books to read with my son, and stumbled across the first three books in the Gregor the Overlander series at a Half Price Books. I haven't read it myself yet, though I've wanted to, and thought this would be a fun series to have at home. I've only heard great things about it!

I'm very sorry to hear about your father, Tanya. It's never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, and my heart breaks for you right now. Please let me know if there is anything you need. *sends love*

    1. I feel like my thoughts are not currently translating into words, but that's likely because of the time. I really need to give myself a bedtime... Ignore the words that fail to make sense within their sentences, lol.

    2. I’m sure it’s the book they’re referring to... not you. Let’s go with that. LOL

I had to look up Gregor the Overlander. How cool that they’re written by the Hunger Games author! I hope they’re a hit with your son.

Thanks for the kind words, Lindsi. I appreciate it so much. I try to remember that I was lucky enough to have a wonderful father for almost 50 years. That’s more than a lot of people get. Still so hard, though. Thanks again for what you said. It means a lot.
