The Sunday Post #337 | May 21, 2023

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

It was a fairly uneventful week. Work, meetings, dinner, reading, bed, repeat. :) I did work from home on Thursday just for a change of pace.

I had a hair appointment yesterday - my first since December. When I contacted my stylist in February for an appointment she told me her son was sick and she was taking some time off. Sadly, he passed away in late March (cancer). He was just 41 years old. She recently returned to work and when I saw her yesterday (with way too long hair) she talked about her son a lot and we both had a good cry. My heart hurts for her.

It was hot here all week with temps in the high 80's every day. Ugh. It's supposed to be in the 70's all this next week and I am so ready for it.

This week's 80's throwback is Always on My Mind (1987) by the Pet Shop Boys. The original video from the 80's is not that great so instead I'm sharing a live performance from 2019. Enjoy!

HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?

  1. It's just not natural to bury your children. Breaks my heart. The weather is all over the place. It has been rather nice in Chicago (under 70, but very sunny each day). Today is supposed to be a high of 73. I packed all the wrong clothes, but what can you do

    1. Sam - Exactly. We always expect to lose our parents, but never our kids. It's just wrong. Enjoy that Chicago weather while you're there! :)

  3. That hair appointment must have been deeply emotional indeed Tanya! Children aren't meant to passa ways before their parents!

  4. That would have been an emotional hair appointment, as we do all seem to get to be friends with our stylists. We had temps in the 80s this week, but then this weekend was nice and cool, like early spring weather, I loved it! Back up to summer temps this week though I think. Hope you have a good week!

  7. Oh, I'm so sorry for your stylist! That is heartbreaking.

Our weather was nice this week, actually a little cooler than average which I didn't mind, but I think the warm weather is coming soon.

  10. 70's sounds good. It's 73 here right now and perfect.

Had to laugh at the random. I often say song lyrics or movie quotes and people don't always get them ha. If you know you know I guess. lol

  12. Oh my heart hurts for your hairdresser. I am glad she got the time with him at the end but that doesn't really help when everything is fresh. It's gotten hot and humid here but the humidity has just been ridiculous lately. I hope you have a wonderful week.

    1. Katherine - I know. I feel just terrible for her. :( We've seemed to have had a break from the humidity the last couple days. And it's pouring rain right now which makes me happy. :)

  13. I'm so sad for your hairdresser! Kids should outlive their parents. I think the pain of losing a child would be a terrible kind grief!

Our weather has been the same, high 80s, hotter than I'd like, and we'll be going back to 70s this next week, too. So yay! Nice that you got to work from home one day!

The weather is okay at the moment, but it's supposed to get into the 80's about midweek.

Your poor stylist! No parent should have to bury their child... Age is irrelevant on that point. Cancer royally sucks.
