WWW Wednesday #79 | March 4, 2020

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

It's supposed to be 84 degrees today. Will someone please come and spirit me away to someplace cold? I'm not ready for the 80's yet. Too soon. Do not like.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I just started The Honey-Don't List this morning so I only had a bit of time before heading to the office, but even so I'm already liking it. It's an interesting premise and I'm already curious about how things will progress with Carey and James.
Current progress: 11%

I've had books by Alessandra Torre on my bookshelf and on my Kindle for years but have yet to read anything by her. I recently saw Filthy Vows on Hoopla and decided to give the audio version a try. I wouldn't say I love it but it's entertaining enough. I've heard it ends on a cliffhanger so I'm interested to see where it goes and how it ends.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

It took two full months but I finally had my first five star read of the year. Still was jaw-droppingly good. No great surprise, I guess, because Kennedy Ryan is an insanely gifted writer and is masterful and creating a sense of realism and emotional connection. After Still, I feel like I'm speechless and yet could also talk about it for hours. I'll have to gather my thoughts before trying to write a review.

I listened to Scandalous Billionaire on the Read Me Romance podcast and it was... pretty ridiculous. I'm all for mindless entertainment but this was just stupid.

I took me a bit to fully get into Regretting You, which had nothing at all to do with the book and was soley because I just didn't have time to read. But once I did I flew through it and could hardly put it down. In typical CoHo fashion, she created characters that felt completely realistic in all their flaws. Also in typical CoHo fashion, there were impossible situations, twists of fate, and moral dilemmas that had my heart hurting fall all involved. All that to say, I loved it. :)

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

Not exactly sure what I'll pick up next but I have some really strong contenders. I'm equal parts nervous and excited for Wild at Heart. I adored The Simple Wild but I'm worried about what Calla and Jonah are going to go through in this one. I feel like I see Kendall Ryan's books everywhere but have never read anything by her. I just recently saw that Hoopla had a few by Ryan so I downloaded Playing for Keeps. Lastly, Devney Perry is an author that I have been meaning to try for almost two years now. I'm convinced that I will love her (based on absolutely nothing, but whatever) but even so it still hasn't happened. So Tattered is high on my list and a real possibility for my next read.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  2. Still sounds amazing! I started reading Kennedy Ryan's books back when she first started out, and loved them; but now it's been awhile. I love CoHo, but haven't picked up her stories in quite a bit. It looks like I need to put these books on my list. I'm currently reading, The Rich Boy by Kylie Scott and listening to Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas and The One by John Marrs (Bookclub Read).

    1. I've read some by Kylie Scott and have enjoyed most of them. The Stage Dive series was fun. And Repeat was good. I'm interested to see what you think of The Rich Boy.

  3. I have read and loved many Torre books, but the last one of hers I picked up I had to DNF. I haven't read Filthy Vows. I read and enjoyed Tattered, but I've yet to pick up the next book in that series. I'm hoping to fix that soon. And I really need to read The Simple Wild. It's not on my TBR for the month, but I'll probably end up squeezing it in.

    1. Out of curiosity, which Torre did you give up on?
I own so many of Perry's books so it's ridiculous that I haven't read any of them yet.

  7. Looks like you and Kennedy Ryan are a good match. Yeah for 5-star books! I want to get Wild at Heart in soon too. I am almost done with my April review books, but I have 18 for May (how did that happen?). I liked Honey-Don't. It's no Josh & Hazel, but I did enjoy it. Such an odd set up for a romance, but it worked out.

    1. It really is, Sam. I am so enamored of her story telling and her ability to create such emotional stories. It's such a gift to be able to pull that off and have it feel utterly realistic and not fake or over the top.

Eighteen ARCs for May?? Oh my goodness, that's a lot! But you read so fast/often that I'm sure it's not an issue. :)

  11. I'm juggling three books from different genres and categories that one moment I'm lost. My bad... oh and I'm with you regarding Devney Perry. I've seen her books around but never really bothered picking even at least one up so here's hoping that might change this year.

  12. All we have is cold and rain... I'm ready for some warm and dry now, although if it wants to detour to a couple of days of snow on route, that'd be great. :)

5 stars for Still? I have just have to read it (and the others in the series...)
