This Week's Top Ten Tuesday Topic:
Favorite Audiobook Narrators
As a fan of audiobooks, I have definitely developed an ear for certain narrators and recognize their voices quickly. While I have come across a small handful of narrators that I didn't jibe with, overall my experience with audiobook narrators has been so positive. Some I enjoy so much that I have purposely sought out books they have narrated, just to enjoy their voice/performance. Here are ten of my favorite narrators, and a few examples of their work that I have enjoyed most.
1. TEDDY HAMILTON
2. ANDI ARNDT
3. JOE ARDEN
4. CALLIE DALTON
5. SEBASTIAN YORK
6. MAXINE MITCHELL
7. ZACHARY WEBBER
8. ERIN MALLON
9. JASON CLARKE
10. ALEXANDRA HARRIS
Do you enjoy audiobooks?
Any favorite narrators?
I haven't listened to any of these, but I will remedy that.
ReplyDeleteBonnie - Hope you enjoy!
DeleteI like when celebrities narrate audiobooks, and not even just their own memoirs - Daisy Jones and the Six had a great full cast, and some of the voices were very recognizable.
ReplyDeleteAngela - Taylor Jenkins Reid always seems to have the best narration. It's often full cast and the production is just amazing!
DeleteI love all of these narrators! Most of them made my list today and if they didn't, they should have.
ReplyDeleteDeanna - I'm not surprised that we share so many of the same favorites. :)
DeleteI wish I listened t omore audio, I'd get s omany more books read!
ReplyDeleteGreg - Audiobooks make a huge difference in how much I read!
DeleteI had Zachary Webber on my list today as well. I've only listened to one book that he narrated (by Cara Bastone) and absolutely *loved* his voice and immediately sought out more that he's narrated. 😂 Andi Arndt is also another narrator I've seen mentioned a few times so I'll definitely have to check out what she's narrated. I think I might even have something with her in my TBR library, lol. Great list, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteDini - Zach Webber is so good! As a matter of fact, he narrates my current audiobook (Say You Want Me by Corinne Michaels).
DeleteI'm listening to the Other series on audiobook at the moment and I agree that Alexandra Harris is great! I also love Teddy Hamilton and Callie Dalton a lot for Mariana Zapata's books!
ReplyDeleteLindsey - I love that Alexandra Harris narrates all of the Others series. Her voices for those characters are so distinct and instantly recognizable.
DeleteZachary Webber is on my list but I forgot Teddy Hamilton! I loved him in The Roommate by Rosie Danan!
ReplyDeleteSophie - I just love Teddy Hamilton! He narrates for Sarina Bowen a LOT so I get to enjoy him often. :)
DeleteI listened to Written in Red and remember absolutely loving the narrator and I've heard amazing things about Sebastian York. Now I want to try the rest of the ones you've mentioned.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - I love that Alexandra Harris narrates the whole Others series. Her voice for those characters is so perfect!
DeleteI've never listened to an audio book! However, my fellow reviewer put together a list of her favorites this week. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
ReplyDeletePoinsettia - I only started to listening to audiobooks 5-6 years ago and I am hooked on the listening experience!
DeleteAgreed. I've only come across a handful of narrators whose voices grated on my ears enough that I stopped listening to the book. In general, I've experienced mostly good ones as well as a few exceptional ones.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Susan - Yep, I've had that happen. I listened to the first book in a series and took an instant dislike to the narrator's voice. It actually soured me on the whole series.
DeleteSebastian York is one I love. His voice! And Julian Whelan is amazing. I was trying to see if I listened to any of the narrators on your list, but it seems I read all the books they narrated.
ReplyDeleteSam - Sebastian York's voice is just delicious!
DeleteI love audiobooks! I've found a couple I don't vibe with, only one I'd say where I wouldn't listen to them again because I really didn't vibe with their voice. My favourite is Saskia Maarleveld, she's such an engaging reader and her skill with doing different accents is second to none!

JJ - Saskia is a good one. She seems to do a lot of historical fiction.
DeleteI haven't listened to many audiobooks since I never can find the time to actually listen to them. But I've been wanting to for sure. Some of these books I loved so much. It makes me want to start listening right away! :D
ReplyDeleteMaureen - I have become such a convert to audiobooks over the last 5-6 years. Now I love the listening experience!
DeleteI love audiobooks but I'm terrible at keeping track of narrators aside from Julia Whelan, who I love.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - Julia Whelan has such a distinctive voice. She's a total pro!
DeleteThank you for sharing your list of favorite narrators. I am hoping to start keeping a list to draw upon, and your list will be very helpful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! Hope you find some you enjoy.
DeleteI love audiobooks! One of my favorite narrators is Karen Cass.
ReplyDeleteLucy - I'm not familiar with Karen Cass. I'll have to check her out!
DeleteOooh, I'd have a tough time with this one. I am ridiculously picky about narrators. I'm new to audiobooks though and I think it's more of a learning curve.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
Karen - It took some time for me to find some favorite narrators. And I've also come across a few that just don't work for me.
DeleteI've only tried one romance on audiobook---I can't even remember which one---but I had a hard time with the male narrator doing a female voice. Not sure if that's a common thing?? I had to switch back to print. 😃
ReplyDeleteDedra - I think it's such an individual thing. Either finding a narrator that works for you, or deciding if audiobooks work for you at all. Very subjective, for sure.
DeleteSuch a great list!! All but 2 of these have caught my attention as good narrators.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison - I love having narrators that I know I can depend on for a great listening experience.
