Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Bookish People You Should Be Following

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme

Ten Bookish People You Should Follow On Twitter/Instagram/Youtube/Snapchat/Facebook -- you pick the platform of your choice to talk about all the interesting bookish people to follow! If you don't use social media much, you can pick your favorite bookish blogs or new blogs you've come across to follow.

Awesome topic this week! It's the perfect opportunity to share some love, sing the praises of some of my favorite people, and otherwise gush about the people who make me giddy when I see a new blog post/video/etc. In no particular order...

1. Sarah at Words With Sarah

I've mentioned Sarah several times before so if you're still not following her what are you waiting for? :) I can't even remember how I first came across Sarah's blog but when I took a look at the books she was reading and reviewing... I was sold. We share a deep and abiding love of the Addicted series by Krista and Becca Ritchie, we both enjoy new adult (including Colleen Hoover and Jennifer Armentrout) and beyond that she has become a friend. Sarah is smart and funny and we actually got to meet briefly at ApollyCon earlier this year. I adore this girl!♥

2. Emily at Rabbit Hole Reviews

Emily is an absolute sweetheart and I never miss one of her blog posts. She focuses on both YA and NA and I love reading her thoughts on what she reads. Whether it's something I would typically read or not, I enjoy Emily's reviews because she always has something interesting to say from her own unique perspective. When I read a review of a book she loved, her excitement is so contagious and I instantly want to read it, too!

Brittany is another blogger whose choice in books is very close to my own. That's what initially drew me to her blog. But I stayed because of her. She has a way of sharing her thoughts and opinions that is so down to earth and it feels like she's just chatting with you about books. She's super friendly and super funny and I love our conversations in the comments of our posts.

4. Shannon at It Starts at Midnight

Shannon was one of the first bloggers to really make me feel like part of the blogging community. She welcomed me, answered questions, commented back (like me, Shannon is a true believer in novel-length comments). And Shannon's blog is something to behold. She writes amazing reviews, she hosts giveaway hops, she talks about the TV shows she loves, she shares her book hauls and the ARCs she reading. But her real superpower would be her incredible discussion posts. Shannon always has something to say, a new topic to tackle, and I'm totally in awe of that. Shannon also puts so much of herself in her blog - it's never cold and impersonal but has her own unique stamp on everything she does and I love that about her and her blog.

5. Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee
6. Grace at Rebel Mommy Book Blog

Like Shannon, Brandee and Grace were also among the first bloggers to welcome me, to leave comments and really just extend a hand when I was a brand new blogger. They are both incredibly friendly, passionate about books and reading, and I never miss their posts. I love the different genres that Brandee and Grace read (contemporary romance, historical, new adult, urban fantasy, YA, nonfiction) and the personality they bring to their blogs.

7. Hope at Hope Ortego

How long do you have for me to sing this lady's praises? :) I don't even remember how I first came across Hope's channel but I'm so glad I did. Hope is simply the sweetest, most upbeat, positive person around. I love her energy, I love her excitement over books and she has such incredible ease at expressing her thoughts and feelings about what she reads. Her book reviews are amazing and her monthly Best In Books videos are not to be missed. Beyond that, I feel so very lucky to call Hope my friend. I love our chats via comments, Twitter and texts. Bonus: she's my fellow Daemon Black fangirl. :)

8. Sara at sarawithoutanH

Sara's channel is pure fun. I adore her quirky humor and as it says in her channel description "the sass comes free of charge." Book reviews, library hauls, tags, readathons... and if you haven't seen her discussions on the Shadowhunters episodes you are so missing out.

9. Epic Reads on YouTube

I rarely hit up the Epic Reads website but I never miss a video. The Book Nerd Problems videos are funny, the themed book quote are great, and the author facts are always interesting. But it's Margo that is the shining star. Nowadays I pretty much only see her in her end-of-month book hauls or a rare tag video, but I never miss a video that features Margo. She's such a dynamo and I love her personality. I got to meet her briefly at YallFest and I wanted to make her promise to be my Book Best Friend. :) (Side note: Does anyone else mourn the days of the old Tea Time episodes with Margo and Aubry? *sob*)

10. Colleen Hoover on Instagram

It doesn't matter how you follow Colleen Hoover - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter - just do it. If you've never experienced her dry, sometimes warped, sense of humor you're just missing out. She's my favorite author for the phenomenal stories she tells but she's also someone I totally want to hang with. I love her deadpan delivery and the bizarre stuff she sometimes chooses to share. The videos that she's posted with Tarryn Fisher are some of my favorites.

So there are my favorite bookish people that I think you should be following, too. Do you already follow any of these awesome people? And what awesome people do you follow that I need to know about? Tell me below!

  6. Thanks for sharing! I know some of these blogs already (and they are great) but I'm off to check out the other ones you mentioned too. Love finding new bloggy friends. I don't think I could do a list like this. I've been blogging for so long, I'd have wayyy too many people I'd want to name. haha

  7. :) Your words warmed my heart! Xoxo my friend!! Sigh, Sarawithoutanh is hilarious. I love her channel. She was a great choice. Also, I LOVE epic reads videos too. I don't ever visit their site but I'm always watching their latest upload. Also, what a creative way to squeeze Coho in there. My sister and I were JUST talking about her instagram on the phone 10 min ago. No lie! My favorite post from her was when her son texted her about going to see a movie with Pascal and she told him no drugs, drinking, Kanye West clothing, or Nickelback. Hahahaha YAS!

LOL Too funny that you and your sister had just been talking about her Instagram! And I totally remember that text that she shared! Oh my gosh, that was so hilarious. She's gotta be one of the coolest moms ever. :)

  14. Girl, you're the sweetest! I am so glad we found each other. Bookish friends are the best. I know distance isn't on our side. But that's why the internet was invented, for online friendships. I mean I'm pretty sure that's the whole point. And Netflix. Anyhow... Love your blog! Love that we have super similar taste in books. Love that it's easy to discuss hot book boys with you. Just all the things. xoxo

  17. You are going to make me cry the happy tears! Goodness you are just the sweetest! And I mean, sure, I am a week behind in comments, but at least I am in the right month (sometimes) ;) Seriously, you are the best. We also still need to figure out what we want to do with your blog button! It kind of ended up in Shannon Purgatory or something hahahha.
